The staff were helpful and explained everything preparing us every step of the way. Dr. Mehan and Dr. Johnson are both friendly and noticeably work well with their staff. The practice and staff overall are truly 5 stars!! 04/12/2016 Tightening brackets together and rubber bands time. Good explanation on how to put them in. Everyone is friendly.

So this review is long overdue but I just recently found out about the situation as it has been…read moreover 10 years since I went here. I went here when I was 16 for braces because I had a "snaggle" tooth on one side of my mouth and was super self conscious about it. The rest of my teeth I thought were fine but just really wanted to fix that one tooth. After some begging from my parents they agreed and brought me to get braces. Things were great at first, I had to have a tooth pulled because my mouth was crowded and we couldn't get that one tooth where it was supposed to be. No big deal, got the tooth pulled and then got the braces put on. My mom had made it very clear to Dr Mehan that she did not want my teeth altered at all besides you know the braces being put on and them straightening out. I think I only had the braces on for a little over a year, but after about 6-7 months my smile was beautiful! I loved it. My teeth looked awesome and I was very confident about my smile and was excited to get them off because lets face it, braces are not very comfortable, and figured since my teeth looked straight I should be getting them off soon. They ended up saying that I needed a couple more months which I thought okay no big deal I've made it this far. I remember a visit where they were in my mouth with some type of equipment which I assumed was like filing off some glue off some braces that had moved or something, I don't know I just went along with it because Dr Mehan told me it had to happen and again I was 16 so I trusted him to know what he was doing. A couple months later I got my braces off - how exciting right! Nope not that exciting. I noticed now that on the right side of my smile it was not straight, it was straight in the front but one side of my smile went up giving it the look that i had a crooked smile which my teeth were not like this before. I brought this up to Dr Mehan and he showed me that from the inside of my mouth looking up at the teeth the looked straight, I told him them being straight wasn't an issue my smile was clearly going up on one side. He suggested he put some hooks on the back teeth of that side and we would put rubber bands on it to try and "help pull my smile back down", which never ended up working. Ever since I've been self conscious of my smile. I recently brought it up to my mom that I still couldn't understand how I went from having a beautiful smile a few months prior to getting my braces off and then it all of a sudden be crooked. She informed me that Dr Mehan HAD FILED DOWN MY TEETH on that side, without permission of her and she had confronted him about it the day that he put the hooks in the back to try and "pull my smile down". My mother is not a confrontational person and wanted to protect me from being more self conscious than I already was as a young teenager so she never told me about it until recently, which I wasn't really pleased about I really wish I had known and I wished we had gone through with legal action as he went against my parents wishes AND FILED DOWN MY TEETH! So now I have to look into getting caps put on my teeth or something in order to fix my smile which costs a good chunk of cash that I do not have so probably won't happen for a while. I get that there are a lot of great reviews about this place but please just be careful and make sure he doesn't file your children's teeth down without your permission.

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!! If you do not want to be treated like dirt DO NOT go to Smile Specialists…read morewith Dr. Ralph Ergas. The receptionists are incredibly rude(I called to change an appointment and she accused me of not caring about my child's teeth). They're disorganized (we drove almost an hour to our last and final appt and were told it was cancelled. They had tried calling our old home # that hadn't been valid for over two years-- and I know I updated it because they require updated info every biannual visit). The office is dirty. They provide one or two toys in the waiting room that look like they're never cleaned. The very last time we went there (on the day the appt was cancelled) they had a DOG behind the reception desk. That's got to be some kind of health code violation. Dr. Ralph Ergas is unbelievably rude, abrupt and has no personality. One time he came out of the exam room and without even a hello he says "Yeah everything looks good." Then he turned around and walked away. The only good thing I can say about this place and the only reason I continued going to this place as long as I did is because the dental techs were really great. They were our source of information and good with kids. But that can only take a business so far. We've now switched to another dentist that is wonderful. By the way Smile Specialists/Dr. Ergas is still in Hooksett but they are no longer located on Bicentennial they are on Kimball Dr. Avoid them!!

i do not recommend this dentist to anyone, unless you are into torture and being treated like you…read moreare scum of the earth. the dentist himself is like a drill sargeant. ironic since i read that in another post. i witnessed him yanking a kids face towards his and grabbing his chin and speaking close to his face saying very loudly "frickin sit still"...when the kid started crying he called him a "sissy baby" and let go of his face. there were finger marks all over his face. i only wish i knew what his mother did/said about that.
