Love the handbags, clothing and the people who work there. The shop vibe is very hip.

They were very helpful and got me the exact jewellery I was looking for. I am very happy with their service and everyone there was very kind

Mohair Pear rules! It's a rad vintage clothing store that also sells, everything from records, to shoes, to piercing supplies, to toys, to glasses, gag gifts etc. It's designed really well and you just feel like your entering a fun house every time you walk in! You can also rent vintage suites or cloths so if you want to stand out at Halloween or Prom, this is your spot to go! If I was ever going to go to prom again, (not likely as a 34 year old dude with grey hair) I would totally come here, rent a suite, buy a wig, get some cool glasses, buy some record to practice dancing and maybe even pierce my nose so I don't look to wierd! Heck I might go do that anyway for the fun of it! The staff here is awesome and they have been here for years making the Hill in Cedar Falls there home for fun! They consign local records as well, so if you are in a band they will sell your music! How cool is that! Keep up the goodness here! read more

Mohair Pear was never my type of place, but I have been brought here on occasion by others for shopping trips which has given me the opportunity to conduct field research on the wily and illusive Hipster in its natural habitat. While my charming companion browses Mohair Pear's ironic and vintage clothing, I hide behind racks observing the Hipsters while narrating to myself in an Australian accent. From my vantage point, I spy an alpha male Hipster in his late twenties trying to engage in the Hipster mating ritual with a younger female Hipster. "Crikey!" I say to myself, "Look how the majestic male draws attention to his giant ear plugs with the arms of his shiny thick plastic glasses! Now watch his suggestive body language as he shows off his way-too-tight pants and tells the female how much he respects Che Guevara and hates the establishment. Oh! Now look! The female is showing the male that he has won her favour by nodding slowly and saying, 'I know, riiiiggght?' I think we may be seeing a litter of Hipsters cubs soon!" Leaving the love birds alone, having totally forgotten about my charming companion, I find myself hiding under another rack watching a lone male Hipster wearing a beanie (clearly a beta) trying to pick out a tight "new" vintage t-shirt. "Watch as the ironic little bugger makes his choice!" I quietly narrate from under the clothes rack, "He knows he has to be careful not to cover up his nautical star tattoos. HOW IRONIC!" By now the Hipster has noticed me. "Uh, what are you doing?" he asks in a faux deep voice, trying to make himself look irritated. So I jump out, quickly locating my companion, and grab the Hipster! "JUST LOOK at this bugger, by Crikey!" I cry out to her as the Hipster tries to get away, clearly judging my khaki explorer's outfit as too mainstream, "He's a squirmy one! By now the rest of the Hipsters are startled. My cover is blown! They all look as I restrain their pack mate. What will they do next, will they retreat, or pounce?! They stand silent, except for one young female. "What is he wearinggggg?" she asks, quietly. "Khaki, mate," I say, with a proud nod. "And I was wearing them before they were cool." One by one, they all nod. Then they all smile. I have since been accepted as a member of the pack, and now they all wear khaki explorers outfits. I have since discovered that their habitat is rich in culture and beauty. I now come back to forage regularly. read more

SO HAPPY for Mohair Pear. I should have gone here first, but for the simple - and stupid - fact that I was driving down the opposite side of the street and saw another place which ultimately cut my nose stud too short and thus made it impossible for me to put back into my nose. I walked into Mohair Pear and explained my situation to the piercer. At first, he tried to place the nose screw I'd just bought from the other place - I couldn't get it in, myself. Turns out he couldn't, either. He showed me some pins and said he would just bend whichever I chose however would fit my nose and he'd even fit it for me. I ended up buying two pins which he subsequently bent and fitted for me and I was so, so happy with the whole process. I asked if I could tip him on the card and he said, "Yeah...like...a dollar?" Oh, boy. Give yourself more credit than that. I tipped him $5 for helping me out so much/well and from now on if I ever need anything else related to my piercing when I'm in Cedar Falls, I'm hitting up Mohair Pear. read more

I LOVE MOHAIR super stylish clothes, tons of records, cute gifts for friends and family (and yourself lol), and so much more! absolutely the only place i'll get a piercing and buy my earrings!! great prices and people read more

We shopped here for gifts when we lived in the cf. (now we live light years away in boulder) We tried to get to know the owners but they always looked at us with suspicion. We never were quite sure why but to be honest a lot people in CF treated us this way. I degrees. The selection & price are really good for a small store with no comparison shopping available. The staff always answered any questions we had & seemed to enjoy working there. That is always a good sign. Try it I know you will like it. read more

Love all the hipster clothing! But, this place is not kid friendly. I brought my toddler once with me and had to put him down for a second. My son ran toward there counter and I grabbed him right before he could go back behind counter, (you know toddler boys). The owner was way rude and told me to please not let my son run around. As if I was "letting" him run around. Rude! read more

Overall, I love Mohair Pear. Everything is super trendy and it's totally my type of store. However, there's one huge thing lacking- customer service. Specifically, the piercer. (Sadly I don't know her name but she has blue hair and wears hats.) Freshman year of college I got my nose pierced by her and my friend got her belly button. She was extremely rude to my friend to begin with. My friend has a fear of needles so she simply asked the piercer to count down from 3, and what does she do? Literally laughs in her face. "You signed up for this hun, not me." I'm sorry what? Anyways.. fast forward about 6 months down the road, this is my story from hell: So, I go back here to get my nose piercing changed by the piercer. Prior to that, I had bought 2 studs, a red one and a diamond. I went in the piercing room and explained to her I wanted the red one but if the circumference was too large for my nose hole, she could put the diamond in. I didn't think it was too hard to comprehend...I assumed wrong though. She started trying to put the red stud in my nose, but it was not going. That's probably a sign it's too large and you should stop, right? Wrong. She continues literally JABBING this stud into my nose so far to the point where I literally have to scream "OKAY STOP!" At this point she literally looks at me so confused like I'm a dumbass. I look in the mirror and there's literally blood... but get this- she doesn't understand what she did wrong and shows absolutely no sympathy toward me. She made her customer bleed and doesn't care. In fact, she even has the audacity to say "you said you wanted the red one!!" Wow. The IQ of this girl though. At this point, I demand she gives me an apology and she literally starts LAUGHING. "You want me to say sorry for what...?" I told her this was the worst customer service I've had and how rude she is and it's absolutely unacceptable to treat customers like this and she should be ashamed of herself. Still, no apology. *shocker* I left right after that and let's just say, I'll be back to shop at Mohair Pear but I will NEVER let that piercer near me ever again. Don't trust her. read more

Clothes are mostly over-priced Goodwill finds, but their piercing department is top-notch.

I live in California now but hold off on all piercing cravings until I visit Iowa, JUST for Mohair Pear. You can't beat their prices and quality, I've had countless piercings and not one infection! Definitely recommend to everyone. read more

Absolutely loved it! I got my Daith pierced and Sara was super helpful and informative and made me feel 100% comfortable! And it was only $30! All their piercings are $30 and that makes me so happy. I will forever go here for my piercings from now on! read more

I always find great vinyl here...Good music is sometimes hard to find in CF. I love to wonder around and look at all the random stuff. Every time I visit I have to check out what's new. I love the body jewlery as well. I have been to a lot of thrift stores and this one is high on the list. read more

Every college neighborhood needs a Store of Unusual Things. This is ours! Everyone who works there is nice and friendly, and they have a great selection of fun things, clothes, jewelery, etc. read more

Mohair Pear is a great place to come for a silly gag gift, a Halloween costume, some "off the wall" clothing and accessories, cheap incense, and funny Iowa t-shirts. We spend a lot of time in this store taking funny pictures with the random glasses, looking at all the funny tees, and admiring the craziness. I purchased some earrings I really like (which were CHEAP by the way), and am looking forward to wearing them. They also have some awesome wigs and such for Halloween or a costume party. It's not your average store - and that's why I like it. read more

Extremely rude customer service. I got a piercing a few months ago and shop there on occasion for their knick knacks and usually the snooty behavior from some of the staff is tolerable. However today I was flabbergasted by the treatment I received. When I first got my piercing, the piercer assured me that she would help me change it when I got new jewelry for the first time. I called in advance to make sure this would be ok and the person who answered the phone said they'd be glad to help. However, when I went to the counter and asked the older woman if she could ask the piercer to help me when she was free, she became instantly rude when she found out that I bought my own jewelry. She even told me that if I didn't want to support small businesses, I could have amazon change my piercing for me. When I told her that was incredibly rude she doubled down and even denied being rude in the slightest, again saying that I have a responsibility to support local businesses. I didn't bother mentioning that I support her business frequently and just left with no plans on returning. Immediately after, I went to another local piercer and they were glad to help me change my jewelry, even though I didn't originally get my piercing there or buy new jewelry there. read more

I love Mohair Pear! The sales associates are very helpful and knowledgeable. I am NOT impressed with Sara, the piercer. She was extremely rude. It was an awful experience. I will go back to Mohair but I will not deal with her. I will just go to the male piercer from now on. I own a business and wouldn't dream of treating my customers like she treated me!! read more

Mohair Pear is a unique touch to the Cedar Falls area. It has everything you could ask for, and justify needing. They have great, unique clothing, accessories, gifts, and other random things. While it is not a Goodwill store, the prices are reasonable, especially for the vintage look. The workers are great, and very helpful in finding the best outfit. The whole store reminded me of something I have seen in other bigger cities that have a lot flare and style. It's a great place to spend time in while just shopping around with friends, but also helpful during specific shopping sprees such as Halloween. It's a must stop! read more

If I could leave a zero star review, I would. This is hands-down the worst piercing experience I've ever had, and I've gotten two sets of lobes done at Claire's. Piercer was very unfriendly, brisk, brushed off my opinion on the placement of the jewelry. She didn't use a clamp for my nostril piercing and it is subsequently crooked--I'll have to take it out as soon as it's healed enough to do so. She was also very rude to the friend I went with who wanted to get her jewelry changed. Overall the visit was needlessly traumatic. 0/10, will not be setting foot in that shop again. read more
