NWT Consignment, while it doesn't seem to have as many "new with tags" items as I expected, is…read morestill a good consignment store. I'm in love with their Facebook/Craigslist drop-off exchange service! You can find some pretty good deals here - but you'll probably have to be careful as some of their items seem more expensive than necessary. PROS: -Facebook/Craigslist item drop-off is pretty amazing. Selling something online? Come in here, drop off your item along with $1, and they'll hold the item and allow the other person to pick up the item at the other person's leisure (and they'll collect the money for you + $1 extra dollar from the second person for the service). No trying to arrange suitable times between two people. No meeting in front of random stores to "make the exchange". They'll do it for you, and they only charge $2 - which is split between the two people. -Friendly service. There was a woman that greeted us when we walked in, let us know to ask her if we had any questions. Another woman asked her for help, and she went around and showed the woman all of the shirts she knew of that fit her request. She wasn't pushy, but she was friendly and around to help - and she was happy to answer my questions too. -Nothing seemed to smell like smoke or have pet hair on it. The building itself has a bit of a musky smell to it, but you get used to it within minutes. -Good sales. When we came here, everything (outside of wedding dresses, designer purses, and such) was $10 each. This discounted a lot of the prices within the shop to see well-within reach for consignment items. -Large variety of items. There's jewelry here, everyday clothes, business clothes, men's/women's/children's clothes, wedding dresses, shoes/heels/boots, prom-type dresses, furniture, and some industrial-type building supplies in the back. There are designer and non-designer purses too. They also have men's suits and shoes. -They offer layaway. I imagine this is for their big-ticket items (like wedding dresses) and less-so for their $5 jewelry rack. CONS: -Regular, everyday prices do seem a bit high. $30 for a non-brand name dress at a consignment store is a bit intense - and that seemed to be a standard price for some of it. That being said, they do have regular sales - and it seems like the pricing really does seem to vary by item. I found $5 sweat pants that I thought about walking home with. You can find some good deals if you look around. -It doesn't seem like everything here is new/unworn. I'm not sure what the estimate would be, but especially with shoes, there's a whole lot of wearing on many of the treads. -Organization isn't great among some of the racks. There are different areas for Small/Medium/Large/XLarge/Plus, but pants/skirts/dresses/shirts seem to be mixed in along each rack. The plus-size rack seemed to vary sizes from 14 all the way up to 28, and all of those were all sorts of mixed up too.

I recently bought a gift only to find that the zipper had teeth missing. I called immediately and left a message. I received no response for four days. When I went in to the store to ask about it, I was shown a small sign about six inches above the floor, hidden behind a shirt saying no returns. When I asked why no one had called back the owner got very abusive. Buy at your own risk.

I love that they look everything over before they accept it for consignment to ensure your purchase is in great condition. It beats shopping at our local Goodwill any day!

Short version: Stuff Etc. is a decent enough consignment store, and I'd love it if the prices were…read morereasonable. Unfortunately, since everything is second-hand (or third-hand, etc.), the prices here are pretty high - sometimes more expensive or within a few dollars of what you could get it at a big box store. I love how clean they have things, and I like their huge space (that allows for a large selection), but I find that I have to be super careful about prices here. Long version: My love of consignment stores comes from being able to browse shelves and find awesome items for cheaper than I would be able to buy them new. In some cases, I might have to buff or clean the item because of its used status, but usually the large price break is worth the extra work. For example, I bought an end table at a consignment store in town for $5, and some gentle cleaning, and it was ready for home deocration! Now, this is the problem with Stuff Etc. Despite being a consignment store, the prices are extraordinarily high. To give them credit, they do a good job of cleaning/dusting any items that are put out (which is something other stores or thrift stores may not do), but at a certain point, you might as well go shop at a big box retailer instead of buying second-hand for the price. The prom dresses I browsed, which didn't seem to be any type of brand name or anything, were between $150 to $200. For a secondhand store, that's pretty pricey. Oh well. I was hoping to strike it nice in the furniture department. Oh. $100 bookshelves. Apparently not. Even the chairs were over $100. Purses started at $20 for non-brand-name items. (As a note, they do offer delivery for furniture!) The salvation seemed to come in the housewares, trinkets, and books sections. I wasn't expecting magic after the rest of the store, but these sections are priced pretty reasonably (maybe a bit high, but still reasonable). Books tend to be between $3-6 each. A lot of the bowls/plates/cups were $3+. I ended up buying a set of plain white ceramic plates for $7 - which, while not great, is probably a couple dollars savings than what I could have gotten at a big box store. The employees seemed friendly enough - though the check-out process was slow. The only cashier on duty ended up calling up a second cashier, and things went a bit more quickly, but their registers don't seem particularly streamlined to the check-out process. It probably doesn't help that people end up purchasing a lot of clothing here, so that stuff can be hard to checkout. In terms of the building, it's actually pretty large, and there's a pretty huge selection here compared to other consignment or thrift stores in the area. The items are relatively well-organized, and it's pretty easy to find what you're looking for. Items are clearly marked, and everything I purchased rang up correctly at the register. While the place isn't sparkling clean, there doesn't seem to be any dust or clutter (aside from the front-ish area where they do their take-in for consignment items).

They said a test to do this would be $200, bla bla bla. They then suggested that yes it was crazy, maybe try Roth Jewelers. When I called Roth I got someone who was helpful and knew what they were talking about, they said bring it in we'll tell you. The pearls were fake, but we ended up taking numerous vintage rings to them for resizing/fixing and they have been nothing but perfect every time. Resizing is generally about $55, they'll clean rings for free and give you an assessment for free (if its real, what stone is what). We had a wedding ring from the 1950s that was so worn the band looked uneven. They had to cut the band and redo that part, but the price was reasonable and the work flawless. I really believe they are the best jewelers in the area.
