I was traveling to Moffat as part of a trip to visit the region from where my ancestors came. Moffat is a pleasant little town, but not a whole lot to do. I would recommend driving out the waterfall (Grey Mare's Tail) and see it. Prepare for a little hike to see it. And.....the Moffat Golf Club is quite a good place for a quick round of golf. VERY hilly....I rented a cart since I was playing by myself, which allowed me to drive up to see the green I was hitting into....saved me several strokes. The rough is quite high, as I'm sure most local courses are with minimal maintenance. The greens were quite nice, and fair. Nothing that a decent firm put won't resolve. There is the one hole where the tee box forces you to hit back over the previous green you just played on....that's interesting. It's cut up into the side of big mountain. Some of the next tee boxes are a bit of a challenge to get to....#10 for example. #9 is a straight up par 3....that's an intereting hole. #18 is quite challenging....all down hill, including the green. The staff was outstanding. The young lady who checked me in could not have been nicer. And after the round, the manager who I spoke to was very pleasant and kind. I signed the guestbook, as you should, too. Take the time and visit. It's not St. Andrews, but it's a very good small town golf course. If I'm lucky enough to revisit my "home town", I'll play again. read more
