Flavor was solid, portion was generous, and the food itself is the main reason I keep coming back. The ambiance is chill and local. Most of the afternoon crowd seemed to know each other, which gives the place a comfortable neighborhood feel. That said, the inside is a little dingy and could probably use a renovation. The issue on this visit was the service. When we got there, it was pretty empty, maybe 4 or 5 people sitting at the bar. The guy working behind the bar seated us, but then never brought menus, never brought water, and never came back to take our order. When my friend tried waving him down, he ignored us. Eventually another employee came in, and the bartender just told him, "Go take his order," without acknowledging us at all. I don't know if he was only working the bar that day, but he could have at least brought water, menus, or simply said someone would be right with us. Instead, the whole interaction came across as dismissive and unnecessary. Food was very good as always, but service matters too. Based on this visit, I'd call it 3 stars overall.

I'll be honest and say that I'm not well versed in the names of Mexican food, but anytime I try something, I usually love it. The food here was great! Tasty and filling, which makes sense because the owner of Barrio is also the same owner of our favorite Mexican place, El Palenque! I would say that the food here is a more refined and cultivated style of Mexican food. Definitely need both restaurants to stay for a long time though because I need to have both experiences in my life. Now I need to say that if you visit, it is a MUST to order their Churro French Toast. I'm not exaggerating when I say that it is the absolute best French toast I've ever had in my life. It was HUGE especially for the price it is. I thought it would be small and ordered a burrito, but I was wrong. I couldn't even touch my burrito afterwards. The rice here is THE BEST. I've never had Mexican rice that had soooo much flavor and has the perfect, non-mushy texture. I would be happy just eating this rice for an entire meal. The place is pretty small, but big enough for a sit down meal. It was really cute and unique with the story of the founder/head chef on the back of the menu, the clay pots behind the counter, and all of the unique colorful decorations everywhere. I've never been to Mexico, but I felt like I could actually experience what it would be like in this restaurant. I really liked that most of our food came out in plates/wraps that we could take-out just in case we didn't finish our food. Although, I might be alone in that thought, as some people like to have their meals at sit-down-restaurants on plates. Okay, so the minor downsides; the water cups were in those tiny cups that you use to swish out the paste from your mouth at the dentist's. It's been a really hot summer and I felt bad when the server would keep filling up our 1-sip-cups. We eventually kept getting up to refill them ourselves since there was a water dispenser on the counter. But I really don't think it's fun to keep standing up during a meal. Maybe it's part of the theme? The one food item I didn't care for was the Steak & Eggs made into a burrito. I felt like it was more like a bean and eggs burrito. It didn't feel balanced to me and it felt like it was missing something to really give it that mmm taste. The last thing was that it was kind of confusing how we would pay. I'm so used to getting a check at the table or the server alerting us that we need to pay at the register. I don't mind either, but we kind of just sat there a little confused until we asked how to pay. That's super minor though, and could just be because our server was busy. I get it, I'm not that much of a stickler.

We stopped in for happy hour on our first visit, and it did not disappoint. As Southern California residents, we're a little picky about our Mexican food, but the chips and salsa were excellent. We enjoyed it so much that we made a second trip to the North Shore and stoped in again for lunch. The experience was just as good the second time around. The grilled fish tacos were good, the service was friendly, and those chips and salsa were just as delicious as we remembered. If you're looking for a laid-back, local spot with great Mexican food on the North Shore, Jorge's is definitely worth a visit!

My boyfriend was not impressed as the carnitas did not have any flavor. We also ordered the birria tacos which wasn't too bad. Needless to say, there are probably better Mexican places to try on the North Shore.

I happened to be in the Waipio area, a rarity for me, and decided to see what might be worth taking back home. I had never heard of Acapulco but was in the mood for Mexican grinds and when yelpers Fran and Gail reviews popped up, I knew this was one to try. They have indoor and outdoor dining options. Both spaces are very clean. I ordered two plates to go. Both plates came with rice and beans which were delicious. The gave a nice quantity of food. My meal of choice was the combo chili relleno and a beef enchilada with the red sauce. Both were delicious and did not get drowned out by the sauce and cheese. Excellent balance and taste. With gas prices being what they are, coming here is only going to happen when I'm in the area. But the delicious taste will make me think hard for any excuse to get to Acapulco restaurant when I'm in the mood for Mexican grub.

One burrito was chicken with green sauce. The burrito itself is about a foot long. The green sauce didn't have much flavor. The other burrito was steak with red sauce, this was the better of the 2 according to hubby and son. I had a pork tamale. It was decent. There was a good amount of meat but not enough in comparison to the tamale. All in all good food, decent price and I would return.

They have a tent area with benches near the truck to sit and wait, or enjoy your food. I ordered the California Burrito which came as a massive burrito. One of those OMG moments when I opened the foil to see it was huge. I started to get excited thinking about this steak burrito only to discover it was a let down. There had to be a whole bag of cold, shredded cheese in this burrito, mixed with french fries, steak, and whatever else. I thought the french fries were on the side, not in the burrito so this was a surprise, not terribly bad but unexpected. It was the crazy amount of cheese which ruined it for me. It was like eating cheese primarily. I told my wife that I'd rather eat a smaller, quality burrito than this. I didn't even finish it because it was too much...cheese. I do like cheese, but not that much. My wife did try a taco plate and said they were delicious. I believe there were three mini tacos. Given her review of the tacos, we'd likely stop for tacos but I'm not sure we would try the burrito again.
