Best salad
Allison B.

So we are regulars here. It's moes-they yell at you to welcome you because they are forced too. The staff is always changing. They aren't particularly friendly. The store is always clean. They make great salads for $9. They have grilled veggies and pretty yummy salsa Verde. It's fast food but it works for us. We typically dine in just because. If you aren't familiar they offer tacos, burritos, salads, these stack things (Erin's choice). You get chips and salsa for free with your meal. You can customize your toppings like rice, beans, salsa, cheese, veggies, sauces, guac and queso. Nothing is over $10. I like that the place is always clean. If the staff was friendly I'd give them a higher score... It seems like they all hate their jobs.

Tried this place on the evening of 6/10/23. At about 6:00 pm local time …read more It's a small " mom and pop" type place with lots of locals . If your traveling like I was it was kind of a cool feeling to sit amongst the locals . The atmosphere inside is basic but not in a bad way.... Just kind of simple. Trust me it's not a glitzy place at all .... Almost has a throwback feel. The staff is genuine and attentive. Very down home. They serve food from their menu which ranges from breakfast to burgers to regular southern fare. They serve breakfast all day . I did not order the breakfast but what I saw on the tables of people who did ... it looked great ! For a do's also has a Buffet bar. It's very small but very adequate. It was the buffet bar I ate from . It had a modest salad section with lettuce and most of a salad component I had some of their crab salad that was on the bar and it was fantastic. As for the hot food they offered a variety of meats such as BBQ, fried chicken , fried fish, and nice chunks of ham cooked with pineapple. I had the BBQ and fried fish and a little piece of the ham. All was good but the ham was really good. For sides they had Mashed potatoes and gravy, Mac and cheese, broccoli casserole, pinto beans. I had the potatoes and gravy which was very good . I also had the Mac and cheese which wasn't as good . It didn't taste cheesy and wasn't seasoned at all . . My waitress brought me cornbread with plenty of butter and that was good . On the bar they also had a dessert section but I got nothing from there. I did see that it contained jello, fresh fruits, chocolate pudding, and banana pudding. Over all this place was pretty good .... Polite staff nice local atmosphere and pretty good food . Trust me you could do worse . So if ya want some local southern food I'd pick this place . I will be back here next time I'm in Chattanooga.

My mom has been looking for a country style cooking buffet for a while and she was very excited that we found Fernando's and that it was so good! They also have a full menu that we could have ordered from, but we did not even look at it as we came for the buffet. The servers were very nice and attentive. The only annoying thing was that the phone kept ringing off the hook and the checkout girl was too busy to be able to answer it often. The noise was a bit annoying. Everything else- A+

So glad we tried Neutral Ground at the Proof. What a wonderful concept for up and coming…read morerestauranteurs! Talked to Neutral Ground chef, Kenyatta Ashford, to see how early we need to arrive to try his delicious sounding tamales.... he said as soon as they open! (They were sold out when we arrived at 7:30) Delicious food & fun atmosphere! Definitely recommend the gulf shrimp salad with plantains, the West African Red-Red dish (both were amazing), & Brisket meatball Yakamein! Ended the meal with two truffle desserts by Poppytons! We will definitely make plans to arrive when you open.... I can't wait to hear when & where Chef Kenyatta ventures out to open his restaurant! Keep up the good work Chef! You definitely earned two followers tonight!

Best restaurant in Chattanooga…read more Long post alert! If you don't want to read it all, here's what you need to know: * Spectacular authentic New Orleanian cuisine * Deliciously inventive cocktails * Top notch service with genuine, kind people My family and I went to Neutral Ground today for brunch. We have been extremely cautious about going to restaurants since the pandemic hit, and this was probably only the 6th time we've sat down in a restaurant since this all started. We called on our way to see if we needed reservations to sit outside (still haven't sat inside since last May). They said no, and when we pulled up, we saw that they had already set up the table for us, complete with a small fire pit to keep us warm. They are very careful about COVID. Everyone is required to wear a mask, temp checks at the door, and they take your first name and number for contact tracing, all of which was very appreciated. The ambiance is very trendy, kind of like a modern take on a high end 60s bar. Excellent drink menu as well, and they are happy to make anything for you. Ok, the food. We ordered the standard breakfast for our three kids, which consisted of scrambled eggs, hash browns, smoky bacon and creamy grits. The staff went ahead and split up the meal evenly on three small plates, and it was more than enough for them. My kids are fairly picky eaters, and they are every bite! If you have small kids, you know how rare that is! Speaking of kids, the restaurant is very kid friendly. My wife got the breakfast sandwich, which had spicy sausage and eggs on an English muffin served with plantain and sweet potato chips. It was amazing! The sausage tasted slightly like chorizo, but with a flavor all its own. I ordered the catfish and grits (pictured), and it was perfect. The catfish tenders were fried perfectly; crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. The grits were fluffy and creamy with a melt in your mouth sauce on top. All garnished with thinly sliced fresh jalapeños to give it an extra depth of flavor and spice. SO GOOD. We got some apple cider donuts and strawberry hand pies for dessert and both were truly great. The donuts were soft and sweet, while the pies were flaky and light. What the chef is doing at Neutral Ground is extremely unique in Chattanooga: his food is authentic to New Orleans, yet he makes it his own. This is the third time I've eaten here, and the first time we have all sat down in the restaurant. We love many of the restaurants in town, but in my opinion this one can't be beat for its combination of service, ambiance and food.

We never go to Panera but this day warranted a visit. Husband's daughter's last day of work before…read moregoing off to college. Had to see her at work. She waited on us, telling us what NOT to get and what was good. If it wasn't good, she said she would replace. No need. Was excellent! Given it was New Year's Day, it wasn't busy. It was quiet and our dirty vanilla chais were tasty. Since their best worker (in our opinions) won't be there anymore, we can't say how good it will be for you. But I'd definitely give it a try!

Title: Panera Bread's Masterclass in Culinary Minimalism…read more One star, purely out of pity. I arrived at Panera with the modest dream of a nourishing road-stop meal, something "healthy-ish," as the marketing whispers. What I received was performance art titled Shrinkflation: The Edible Edition. My upgraded "bowl" of soup arrived as a standard cup, artfully placed inside a larger bowl, like a Russian nesting doll designed by someone who despises joy. A bold statement on portion perception, perhaps, but I prefer my statements edible. My husband ordered the signature bread bowl. It materialized as a dainty sourdough thimble, capable of holding precisely three spoonfuls before collapsing into structural despair. He ate the "bowl" itself in quiet resignation; it tasted like regret baked at 350°F. For the price, we could have purchased an entire week's produce section, yet this meal left us both foraging the car for stray pretzels like urbane raccoons. The staff were nice, warm, efficient, and clearly innocent in this corporate theater of the absurd. The true culprit is upstairs, counting our greens while serving us air. Panera, you've cured me of chain-restaurant faith entirely. I'm off to the woods to forage instead. This was, with theatrical finality, my last visit. Bon appétit? Hardly.
