I went to another mechanic who charged me $350 to fix the same issue. The other mechanic diagnosed the problem with my description of the issue and wouldn't have charged me $165 for the diagnoses. I'm not sure why there was such a price discrepancy. Perhaps they tried to scam me (as I'm not a car person and I don't know better) or their prices are simply outrageous. Either way, I won't be going back.

Outstanding service but holy smokes are they pricy…read more Unfortunately, my Equinox requires a specific type of oil so the warranty doesn't void (all gimmicks thanks to good ol' GM!) While one mechanic worked on my oil change, the other put air in my tires. The mechanic walked me through every step which was nice, and at the end, he made sure everything was still working properly in my car. Once it was all complete, he showed me my oil stick to ensure it actually had oil inside. Like I said, really outstanding service. I'm hoping the $53 spent on an oil change, that I don't have to get for another 5,000 miles, lasts long.

I called the next day at 3 PM to see if my car was ready and they said about 10 minutes. I picked it up and went home. I noticed that the tire rotation had not been done when the woman behind the counter lied to me. The reason why I know this is because I removed the air cap from the passengers rear tire when I got home. I noticed the same tire was in the rear, and I called and notified them. They told me that sometimes they go side to side instead of front to back. I told him that neither had not been in touched. Also, none of my fluids were topped off as my add fluid for the window light was still on. In the morning the next day, I went to Belle tire and paying them to do the rotation and check my fluids during the inspection. They showed me my cabin and air filter which were filthy and should've been pointed out if Tuffy really did an inspection. I've been going there for the past three years never a problem Tuffy now lost me as a customer and their ethics are horrible. I keep my car impeccable, and don't even know if the oil was changed. Never again and you should be ashamed to yourself.

It was dropped off at 7:30am and was pleasantly surprised by a 11:30 pick-up call. Bill's quote for a starter RR was about $450, being a very good price as it would have been several hundred dollars more from a RV center and would be several weeks before they could get to it. The kicker being that it didn't need a starter after all, it was just a wire from starter to relay that need to be replaced, saving me hundreds of dollars more. Thanks, Bill, for your honesty and getting me on the road again.

I trust them implicitly and as a person who is not particularly mechanically-minded, that's really important. Bill who takes the work in, distributes the work to the great techs and mechanics in the garage, is a very kind and knowledgeable person and answers every question I have. 4th street takes my car in, checks it out, Bill calls me with the quote and good explanation of what needs to be done and why and when! I never ever walk away feeling like I've been in any way bamboozled, quoted for services I didn't need, or anything close to that. The other great thing is that since my car is a Hyundai hybrid (and one of my kids has an old old BMW) if there are things that 4th Street knows are specific to our makes and models that is not their area of expertise, they'll tell me that as well so I can take the cars to the dealership or BMW-specific repair places. This has only happened a couple of times but I definitely have appreciated that guidance from Bill and staff. A million thanks to Bill and 4th Street Auto in Royal Oak for keeping my car safe and on the road and explaining everything I need to know before any work is done. Plus, they are just great people to deal with every single time!
