We're so grateful we found Reid's Home Repair for our big basement refinish project - great work…read moreand great humans! Our home was built in 1913 and gut rehabbed in 2024. However, the basement was not finished, but had rough-in plumbing installed. We were looking for someone to finish the basement (4 rooms total), including adding an additional bedroom with closet and full bathroom. This included all electrical, plumbing, framing, drywall, door installation, flooring, trim, and painting. Mike was quick to respond to my original inquiry, come check out the space, and provide a quote. He was timely, friendly, and easy to collaborate with. We changed our mind a few times on final design - we appreciate how patient he was with us while we narrowed in on the final plan. The final quote was very detailed and he provided helpful information on the areas for potential cost increase (given that the home is old and there could have been unexpected things identified after work begun). This helped us set our expectations for the project. During the project, he kept us up to date on progress or concerns and kept the area very clean (ensuring very little debris made its way outside the basement into our home). He managed all of the subcontractors (electric, plumbing, carpet, etc) so we didn't need to worry about a thing. Made it super easy by having one point of contact! His work speaks for itself. There were a lot of difficult aspects of the basement to figure out (i.e. uneven walls and ceilings, tricky vents or pipes along the ceiling, water/electrical shutoffs needing to be accessible, etc), but he managed to turn the space into exactly what we were looking for. The attention to detail makes all the difference! In the end, the project took about two months (including carpet installation) and final cost was in line with the estimate. I'd recommend Reid's Home Repair to anyone!

He called me back and we talked about my problem on my roof. He gave me a quote before he came out…read moreto look at the damage. He was prepared to do the job that same day. He finished within thirty minutes. He charged me what he quoted me for the job. I was glad to get the job done before the winter weather arrives.

I debated for several days whether to write this review or not, not too keen on writing "negative"…read morereviews, & genuinely liking Randy as a person. However, after reflecting on the job he did for me, how it turned out, & how much he charged me, I feel like I must share my experience. I had bought one of those 8x6 resin shed kits on Amazon (my first mistake) & hired someone off Craigslist (my second mistake) to put it together, which they royally screwed up, namely the roof. A few pieces were missing, to be fair. After seeing some great reviews for this guy, I brought him out for an estimate & to see if it was salvageable. Randy assured me it was fixable & quoted me $350 to take the roof off & rebuild it. I will say that he was always punctual & professional acting. But as I looked out over halfway through the quoted time, he had taken the shed apart, all the way down to the floor. So I checked in, & he assured me that I was gonna have a working, finished shed, though it'd take a couple extra hours. Fine, I said, I just wanted it done & functional. A couple more hours pass, nearly double the quoted time. And he just gives up, says the best option is to throw a tarp over it & call it done. It will be fully functional, he says. But it's not. The corners blow up, the doors don't work hardly at all, & the middle sags with any rain. He assured me again & again that I'd have a functional shed, & I really don't. Randy kept bad-mouthing the previous people who first put it together, talking about professional quality & integrity. But at least the doors worked (though they were on backwards, okay) & it had an actual roof (though there were a few small gaps). In the end, he ended up billing me for eight hours on a job quoted for four hours & an end result that would've taken two hours (removing roof, flipping the doors, & "installing" the tarp) if he had been honest from the get-go. With his confidence & good reviews, I trusted that Randy would do right by me (my third mistake). He has not, leaving me with a shed that is less functional & less stable than when he arrived, with nearly $600 less in my bank account. If Randy had half the integrity he claimed he had, he would have been more aware & upfront. He acted like he did what we agreed on, very quick to send the invoice in the middle of the night. I have been waiting for him to reach out & apologize. Nothing. I would like a refund of most, if not all, of what I paid him since I'm gonna have to pay to replace the roof he dismantled & did not reassemble. I had hoped we found our new handyman, but not after this mess.

So from the start, I was really excited because the person I had spoken with seemed to be very level headed and business oriented... Only to arrive home feeling COMPLETELY deflated. I requested a "move-in" clean. I advised that the townhome had been unoccupied for a few years. I advised that our things were in the home but I needed a good once over before I felt comfortable putting things away... I can say FOR SURE two things were done that are listed on the contract... The toilets were gross from hard water and they were sparkling clean after. My oldest child's bathroom was clean, floors clearly mopped... Cabinets... ummm... and then I went to warm up take out for my son... VERY communal microwave in the office. My tub.. nope. Vents dusted, (even though they are sited in the quote)... Nope. Doors wiped down? You guessed it... NOPE. Despite how upset I was I tried nicely to convey that the invoice needed adjustment. I was met with begging to come play around in my home (no thanks), then gaslighted to try to believe that I can't read or see either. THEN LEGIT arguing with this lady about messaging me at odd hours of the night. The most basic understanding of consumer law states that even collection agencies can only correspond during certain hours. Only for me today to decide that it's not worth the wasted energy... Only for I guess her to pretend the interaction didn't happen yesterday??? This is truly the strangest, most disappointing interaction with a small business owner I have EVER had. She made very strange and incorrect statements about my financial status ASSUMING I would not be able to cover the bill, my knowledge of business practices, education level and... HEAVENS! See photos below.

We had completed a manual defrost twice in two weeks and water was still building up under the basket in the bottom of the freezer. Eric came in and got right to work, within 15 minutes. He had all kinds of pieces laying on the floor and he diagnosed it as the drain line being frozen up, not clogged. He was able to get it back together and working again, even less than an hour. part of the problem is we had the temperature set too low. We were very impressed.

In late January of this year, Duncan replaced the ice maker in my refrigerator. The technician did…read morean excellent job, and the entire repair took about 15 minutes. Less than six months later, the replacement ice maker failed because of defective internal gearing. The part itself was covered under the manufacturer's warranty, and once again the technician completed the repair in less than 15 minutes. My issue isn't with the technicians or the quality of their service--it was with Duncan's billing policy. I was charged $289 for what amounted to a quick replacement of a warranty part that was known to be defective. While the manufacturer covered the replacement part, Duncan only warranties its labor for 90 days. After that, customers are responsible for the full labor charge, even when the failure is caused by a defective part that Duncan installed. In many cases, service companies can seek reimbursement from the manufacturer for warranty labor, yet I was still billed the full amount. I understand that businesses have overhead, technicians deserve to be paid, and service calls cost money. I was prepared to pay a fair and reasonable charge. However, $289 for a 15-minute repair on a warranty replacement part that failed in less than six months feels excessive. What was most disappointing was the lack of willingness to discuss or reconsider the charge when I raised my concerns. A little flexibility or customer goodwill would have gone a long way. Based on this experience, I will not be using Duncan again. If you're considering them, be aware that while they stand behind their labor for only 90 days, you may still face significant labor charges if a replacement part fails shortly after that period.
