Where do I start on this property? I would like to begin my review by identifying that I try to be a very positive person. I know that most people only write a view to complain, so you have to take the bad reviews with a grain of salt. Moving forward, I have found that the negative reviews pertaining to the local management of the facility are unfortunately spot on.
I initially toured the Marrot around 6 months ago. The facility itself is actually quite impressive, and is definitely a real winner. The location is prime, the views are fantastic, and the amenities are plush. When you first walk in the front doors, you are taken away with a 1920's era luxury hotel lobby, with a coffee bar, 24/7 front desk security, and lavish walls. You are then greeted by your tour guide, who shows you around the facility. Truly, everything that could have been thought of, including free gated parking, has been thought of. It's easy to fall in love with the property easily, especially at its lower price.
So it's at this point, that you're ready to sign the lease. That, is where all of the trouble begins. I originally was ready to sign a one bedroom lease, and was scheduled to tour the property, when someone apparently came in overnight and signed an entire lease, without even seeing the property. As frustrated as I was, I had to consider that this was not Van Roy's fault, and I eagerly awaited their next one bedroom to open up. Fast forward a number of months. I'm now deployed out of the area with the United States Military, so I asked my girlfriend to follow up with the apartment complex to determine if they had any updates on a one bedroom that was available.
To my excitement, she informs me that there is a one bedroom, and I ask her to call them and set up a viewing this coming week. Although I'm a little salty about the first experience I had, I am still elated to possibly move into the property upon coming back from the current mission I am on. My girlfriend calls The Marrott, and asks for an application so we can get the ball rolling. The representative informed my girlfriend that she would e-mail it immediately. A day and a half later, she finally received an e-mail with an applicant, and forwarded it to me. I then asked my girlfriend to try and set up a sit down for the next view days to get everything taken care of while I'm gone. She calls the Marrott on Saturday, and is told by the representative that the representative is "busy, but [she] will call back". Hours go by with no call back, and my girlfriend calls again, only to get a voicemail.
Fast forward to today. My girlfriend attempted to touch base with the Marrott staff first thing in the morning, when she is once again told, they will call back, and that she thinks "the apartment may have been taken this weekend". They call her back roughly an hour later, saying that the apartment has been taken, and that a lease had been signed moments ago. Although tone and demeanor over the phone is subjective, my girlfriend raised the issue that she representative was rude and short.
Overall, the property is fantastic, but management at their level is inadequate, and disorganized. I've never seen an office that is so "busy", when they have 3-4 leasing employee's, but only a few apartments for lease. I have forwarded this up to the regional manager, and am offering the Marrott and opportunity to redeem itself. I will update this review to reflect customer service, upon completion of my inquiry with regional management. read more
