Our new home does not allow for RV's of any kind to be pulled into the neighborhood. We were kind of in a pickle and really didnt know how we were going to wash our rig thats been sitting for a year. Looked around at some truck washes and it seemed like no one really wanted to help. I was going to give up and saw this place and thought well lets just drive by and see if one of their wash bays would be big enough to wash it there. We swung by and parked, went to check the specs, and the owner came out and made us feel comfortable about washing the rig there. The wash bay cleared the rig with no problems and now shes all clean. I travel at least 20 minutes to use this location because it's clean, the attendants are focused, it's spacious, and it doesn't feel confined. Upon exiting the SolarShine Express Car Wash the vehicle was examined but no noticeable damage was found. Later that afternoon we observed a large crack in the windshield. A claim was filed with SolarShine and this was the response: Dear Mr. Moller, Thank you for taking the time to bring your concerns to our attention regarding your recent visit to SolarShine Express Car Wash. We truly appreciate the opportunity to review your claim. After carefully inspecting the vehicle and reviewing our camera footage from the time of your wash, we did not observe any malfunction or irregular operation of our equipment. Our wash system was functioning properly, and our brushes are designed with controlled, light pressure that would not cause damage to a windshield that is not already compromised. Attached to this email are photos showing what appears to be a rock chip in the windshield. The crack in the glass runs directly through this area. Unfortunately, even a small rock chip can significantly weaken the integrity of the windshield. When glass that has been heated by the sun is suddenly exposed to cold water, the rapid temperature change can cause the glass to expand and contract quickly. If a chip is present, this thermal stress can cause a crack to spread from that point. Based on our findings -- including the presence of the apparent rock chip and confirmation that our equipment was operating normally -- we are unable to accept responsibility for the damage and must respectfully deny the claim. We certainly understand how frustrating windshield damage can be, and this is not the outcome anyone hopes for.
