I was told it would be applied on the phone when I made my confirmation, mentioned it again while filing out paperwork and was still charged for it so he said "I'll see what I can do". I then updated my address a few weeks later because I signed a lease at a new place and mentioned it then and was told "I'll see what I can do". I was then able to move out of my storage unit in under a month and when I freed up the unit early I was told the refund was credited to my account that was no longer active because I closed it out. I asked if it could be refunded back to my credit card and was told "I'll see what I could do". I never got my money back. I will happily remove this review if I get the credit back, but until then just know you might be scammed out of a triple digit refund you fully deserve

About halfway through my summer, I got a letter informing me that I'd been locked out of a unit for late payments that I'd at least already sent the money for--don't mail in cash. After calling four times to clarify why I'd received the letter, the gentleman only picked up when I called using a different number, and he charged me again for the rent in addition to late fees. When it came time to end the lease, I communicated the desire and was instructed to call when I had finished picking up the last of my belongings. I called four times, leaving a voicemail to reach back out when he was available. He did not respond. I only got my deposit for the key back because I called him a week later and left another voicemail indicating that I still wanted to make the exchange. And he never gave me the $10 discount he promised because he didn't have change for the bills that I had on hand at the first signing of the lease. I left this experience feeling as though I'd been taken advantage of in a number of different facets. I truly wouldn't recommend this facility to anyone.

It turned out that for insurance purposes I needed a climate-controlled unit, so I had to cancel my reservation before I ever set foot in Laramie. In this case, planning ahead under very stressful moving circumstances did not pay off. Take note, "Customer Service": A nice way to handle this would have been to prorate for the days that the unit was "officially" rented out to me. Bottom line: I usually find positive points to balance out the bad in my reviews, but here I can't find anything. Do not use this business. Go to Laramie Self-Storage instead: they have a better attitude, better rates, better customer service, and spotlessly clean facilities. Vern's is the only business in Laramie that I have found truly deplorable so far. Enjoy the free $100+ you got from me, Vern's! Too bad we can't vote Zero stars.
