This business was a scam, they made me prepaid for a series of visits and filed bankruptcy less than a month afterwards, now they won't respond to my request for a refund leaving me dealing with the credit card issuer directly. I am just returning after giving birth to twins and having an insurance plan that is accepted and I am so HAPPY to be back. Life can really do a number on you, and Modoma is the best option to help get back on track. The massage therapists are knowledgeable and extremely professional and will have you back to feeling your best with their treatment plans. I've been back for a little over a month and I am no longer in constant pain. Krystal, Natalie, and Ebony are all phenomenal and have the magic touch! When you leave you'll be equipped with stretching exercises to help maximize your recovery so that you can work on those in between treatments. Went well over a year ago and had same horrendous experience regarding wait times, lack of communication, and upsale. They wanted almost $3000 and I politely walked out, tempted to bill them for wasting my time. Today I got a random text offering a free $599 coupon. Unfortunately this isn't close to the full amount the wanted but they are obviously having trouble getting people through the door and you sign up. I consider this am invasion of my privacy when I left and directed them to remove me from their systems. It's clear why they are in trouble with everything bring secretive and money gouging. Modoma is amazing! I love how attentive the staff are to my medical needs. I have been going for a few years. I started going for my back, neck and shoulders. I work at a computer 8+ hours a day. So they always get tight. The therapist have been amazing. I love Aubrey Rose, Aureil and Stephanie. I prefer deep massage and they do a great job. I have more mobility in my neck and arms now. I also went for my knees and just finished with their knee protocol hoping it will help! Only complaint is they are closed early on Friday and and not open on Sat. read more

The Wife tells me that I have an appointment for a massage and asks me what time would be best. Well, I'm not going to turn down a massage so I tell her 12-2 would be best of the times she gives me. Wait. Two hours? And then she explains that it's more than just a massage, it's an appointment with a medical professional to see what kind of massage would be best, that usually takes about an hour, then the hour long massage. They give you recommendations on exercises and it's kind of a massage plus some advice and possibly some medical intervention. Okay, I can live with that. So the day of the appointment comes along and at 12:15, The Wife calls and says, "You're at Modoma, right?" No, I'm not. I didn't see it in the calendar (my life revolves around Google calendar) and I didn't remember. I was, however, able to reschedule my appointment and I am thankful for that and why my review is 2-stars and not one. So I hurry up and get over there. The place isn't particularly conspicuous, so I had to hunt around and use the pictures on Yelp to help me find landmarks to guide me to the place. The store front faces West, if that helps. You get into the lobby and it's clean and modern, but it feels sterile. Everything is a hard surface - tile or glass or metal. Because it's a tiled/glass, it's very loud and echo-ey. It could use something to absorb some of the sound bouncing around in there. The women at the front desk greet me and give me 5-6 sheets of paper that I need to fill out before my appointment and they point me to the "Relaxation Room" which is just through a door off the lobby. The Relaxation Room is nice, it's definitely more cozy. There's a couch and another guy waiting for his appointment, I assume. It would have been relaxing but, since it's off the lobby, the voices of the three women are head through the wall and they're chatty Cathy-ing themselves up. One woman spoke particularly loud. I start filling out my forms. It's medical history and where does it hurt and how frequently does it bother you and why are you here and what's your insurance. It's A LOT to fill out, if you ask me, but I power through it because it's just what you do. I finish and return, they take my forms and say someone will be right with me, just wait back in the relaxation room. They're right and a guy calls me back and we go to an examination room. Here he explains what Modoma is, what they do, how they do it, etc. It sounds interesting and I'm curious what they'd suggest. He asks about pain levels and where, how often and how long it's been going on. I'm a bit irritated because these questions were all asked in the intake forms. What's the point of filling out the intake forms if I'm just going to be verbally surveyed in the room? Then he leaves and sends in the doctor. She has me tilt my head forward and back and side-to-side, each time asking me if I feel any pain or discomfort. She tells me to touch my toes and lean back, to the side, to the other side, lay on the table, bend this leg, bend that leg, each time asking if I feel anything. I let her know that I'm aware that my posture and job contribute to my back pain, but it is just when I have used it more than "normal" that it bothers me. She explains she's gathering information to give to the massage therapist to customize my massage so I get the most out of my appointment. She goes further to say that at the start of my massage there will be some stretching and that's part of what they do. She suggests that maybe a posture correction device may be advisable. She leaves and the first guy comes back and gives me a sheet of paper to suggest that I get a monthly membership which includes one massage a month and they're recommending I get 6 massages and then a re-evaluation to see where I'm at. Okay, I'm not sold yet, but we'll keep that in mind. Based on the other reviews, I was ready for them to drop a $1,000 treatment plan on me with a $500 posture device, but all they tried to sell me on was the massage plan. I was surprised. Then he leaves and sends in my massage therapist. She takes me to a massage room, says she'll be back in a couple minutes. I get undressed and on the table and glance at the clock. It says 4:10 and it's about an hour off as it's closer to 3:10. She comes back and begins the massage. I indicated on my paperwork (and maybe that's my problem) that I prefer deep-tissue massage and all I get is a lot of surface massage on my neck, shoulders and upper back. I do appreciate that the massage lotion they use is warmed up and the heater for the table was on too, but that's about it. The massage was mediocre at best and really didn't do anything to relieve the knots and tension in my neck and shoulders, of which I mentioned to both the prior interviewers and indicated in my paperwork. When she says she's done, it's 4:50. It's clear to me, and from their performance, I'm not their target audience. read more

I found Modoma through a FB ad. Since it was 5 min away from my house i decided to call and make an appt. I have been dealing with sciatic pain on the lower back & numbness running down my right leg due to many hours sitting in front of the computer most of the day & pain when sitting for long periods of time. (also currently getting treated by chiro as well) I told the person on the phone that i would need deep tissue. Appointment was at 5pm. I came in 15-20 min early to fill out paperwork. I was called into a room and I explained to her my lower back pain, she took my blood pressure and then left the room. I had to stand to wait as it was bothering my back to sit. Next person came in, I had to explain to her again my lower back pain. She did some diagnosis & recommended this "treatment plan" & said the therapist will focus on lower back during this session. She left the room. The 1st person came back in went over the details of the treatment plan, insurance coverage, and cost. (25 visits for year $1400) Afterwards, she told me to go back to the relaxation room and wait for the therapist to get me at 6pm. By this time it was already 5:45pm so it's frustrating that I have to continue to sit and wait again. I should have just left. The therapist an older lady came and got me she then ask me about my pain. I looked at her and ask "didn't they talk to you and did you see my paperwork??" she responded that she was coming from another session. I asked her to focus on my lower back mainly which was also discussed during my diagnosis. I was already annoyed as there seem to be lack of communication and you would think a therapist would be informed after the consult. During the session i asked her she she can go firmer/deeper. She did the best she could but told me she doesn't usually go this deep as she is older & recommended other people for deep tissue next time. Overall experience, I left there feeling i wasted my time & communication is unsatisfactory . I was not expecting to be there for 2 hours. It was not communicated to me the time i made my appointment that this consult was going to take that long. Back pain was getting uncomfortable for waiting for my massage. There was lack of communication between the person doing the consultation and to the therapist. read more

The massage(s) I received: 5 stars! Everything else: Zero stars I was introduced to Modoma through my employer, they offered free chair massages onsite. The massage therapist was great! The location is located right between my home and work, so I decided to take them up on their offer of a free 30-min massage and exam. I knew the massage would happen at another time, but I arrived for what I thought was the 'exam' only to get a 'lesson' on the spine, pictures taken of me standing (in heels, I might add) to determine how heavy my head was based on my posture. Then I had to schedule my exam and massage. So I was annoyed they completely wasted my time. Also, they wouldn't give me any cost or insurance coverage info at that initial visit. I returned to my massage appt, which was preceed by the 'exam', and despite going in with no issues and only a level 3 pain, was told I needed two back braces, a TENS unit, trigger-point injections, rx lidocaine lotion and twice weekly massage. I said I'd need to look into all that, since it was seemingly A LOT for my few non-severe symptoms. The massage was AWESOME, Nathalie was fantastic. Great pressure, good communication and very professional. I felt great after! That is, until I got the sales pitch and was prescribed a $2,200 medical massage plan (including all of the above recommendations that I did not agree to), that my insurance doesn't really cover because of the type of plan I'm on. The only other option presented was a membership commitment. No thanks! I would have totally gone there for repeat massages with Nathalie if they hadn't tried such a hard sell. It seems like their business model is scamming people's insurance policies. Which is such a shame because they've managed to hire some talented massage therapists. read more

Not what I was expecting. Was immediately told I needed to come once a week even though I was experiencing very minor pain. Was told my major insurance company was out of network and each session would be very expensive. Then my massage therapist was very nice but never stopped talking throughout my entire massage even though I requested minimal conversation during the massage. I give this information out very seldom. I asked if I could just bring the $50 needed in cash. They said no. That seemed very unethical since it was the same amount that they said that they needed my card for if I missed my appointment. Scam?? I've never run across this issue in my whole life. This place is changing my life! First let me begin by saying these are medical massages. This is not a spa or massage envy. You go and meet with a nurse practitioner who discusses the work you need done. Then based on your course of treatment you receive medical massages. I haven't been to one of the therapists that I haven't loved. Not only do they massage your trouble areas but they teach you life style changes. They advise you on stretching exercises to help improve posture, upper and lower back pain, as well as general stiffness. I was skeptical at first. But I have noticed change. Modoma is well known at my company, they've come for health fairs and accept our insurance so when my back issues flared up like they do, I decided to give it a try. I was skeptical at first, it's a bit unconventional in what I was expecting. First time consultation (typical) then had to come back for a visit with a nurse to further diagnose and next visit was first treatment. Like everyone says, the massages shouldn't be spa like. My first treatment was different. (I've been getting athletic/deep tissue/body work massages for a few years now as an avid triathlete) The room and set up is comfortable, very standard, the massage itself was much faster movement then I have experienced but I walked away feeling good and like someone beat up my back but in a good way...so it was fine. I've been to Knead a few times over the last year. They were at a company health fair and I signed up to receive information from them. Turns out, they accept my insurance and I was able to see them with only paying a co-pay. Great! The initial visit involved me seeing the chiropractor, Dr. Speers, for an assessment of what I would need work on. At that time, my lower back was a constant issue. I was assigned a massage therapist who would be able to apply the desired pressure and would be aware of my issue. The next visit I was assigned to Surey and she was fantastic. Now, I do have to warn you that my massages were medical massages and even though they were very relaxing, it wasn't the spa massage that I've received at other places. Also, the massages were exactly 50 minutes. So you must get there before your scheduled time in order to start on time AND the initial assessment must be done prior to your massage if you're going to go through your insurance. On subsequent visits, I started to see Gabby. I must've been really lucky, because she was another phenomenal masseuse. She was a bit more thorough and truly focused on problem areas. I plan to see here from now on. All and all - the services that I've received have been great and have helped my lower back issues. read more

I bought 2 massages through a Groupon when a friend told me his friend had a good experience at Knead. I was not impressed. The first therapist decided my shoulder needed attention and whatever she did, my shoulder was flared up for two weeks after. I wondered if it was "medical massage" because you needed a Dr "after" the massage! I made the second appointment and requested a different therapist, mentioning what my experience had been. She came in and said she did not have my paperwork, did I have issues (I spent a lot of time filling out the paperwork too!). I mentioned my experience with the last massage and having my shoulder flared up She proceeded to spend an inordinate amount of time on the shoulder I mentioned I wanted only minimal massage on. The rest of the massage was a 3 out of 5 at best. When I left I felt like I had half the normal work done on me. There may be better therapists there, but my experience would not lead me to recommend the place. read more
