This place has incredible gowns for the price. I mean mind blowing. Everything seems to be under around $1200... and is beautiful! I am getting married this year, and went here to try on MOB gowns to send photos to my mom (don't laugh) after my client wore one of their gowns to an event. My girlfriends and I went searching for evening gowns on Santee. As soon as we walked into this store we were greeted with amazing customer service by Yoko, Angie and Marlenne. They had beautiful dresses with great prices. We tried on some dresses that we loved but decided to look at the other stores on Santee. The customer service at the other stores was non existent and so were their gowns. We ended up going back to this store to buy our dresses because of the gowns but most importantly their customer service. I highly recommended buying from Modessa. Angie helped me with a MOB dress. She is super friendly and went out of her way to make me comfortable. She is only supportive and not pushy in the least. She walked me to the alteration place a few stores down and she handed them a matching scarf that she provided to make spaghetti straps. The dress fits perfect now and is so comfortable. I have to wait until June to wear it but I do not have to do anything more. It was so easy! The price is more than fair and they have quite a selection. I knew I would find something after minutes of being there. I had many choices within the colors that my daughter wanted me to wear. I had much better luck here than wedding or department stores. I do not advise anyone to shop in this store. I bought a dress from them for my daughter. They didn't have the right size, so they said I could pick up the size I needed the next day. The next day, we picked up the dress and brought it home and saw that the size was small. We went back to the store and informed them that we had been given the wrong size. To which they replied that they did not have the size we needed in the warehouses, they could give us one size more. We agreed to this, and they brought a packed dress. We asked if it was exactly the right size, and they assured us that it was. When we returned home and wanted to try on a dress, we saw that they had given us a dress two sizes large . We called them and they disdainfully told us that size 12 and size 14 are the same thing. We had to spend another $150 to redo the dress. I definitely do not recommend using this store to anyone. read more

Not only do they have a wide selection of styles to choose from, whether you're looking for simple and elegant or bold and sparkly (and more), they provide excellent service as well. After a dress mishap (buying the same exact dress as my friend), Elizabeth was kind enough to let me exchange it for another. All the ladies who work here are very kind, patient, and helpful, especially Vicky who was extremely sweet and always checking in to see if any of the customers needed help putting on their dresses. Absolutely stunning dresses, beautiful store, extremely clean and well organized, and surprisingly not overwhelming considering the insane amount of dresses they had there. Everything was color coded and easy to maneuver. I came in looking for a formal short dress (tea length). The very helpful employee showed me what they had which wasn't really what I was looking for, but then I turned around and there it was, the dress I was envisioning, and wow, that dress was gorgeous!! The employee immediately took it to the dressing room, helped me zip it up and pinned it for me since it was a bit big. She took a picture of me, she showed me what it would look like a size smaller, and anyway, she worked for that sale and boy did she get it. They will be shipping the dress to me (which makes me a bit nervous considering the reviews I've seen about their shipping) but I have faith it'll get here on time. I can't wait to come back and shop for my brother's wedding. That's going to be an experience I'm definitely looking forward to. read more

Let me preface this by saying when we came and tried on the dress originally I had to order my size, but the dress that was in stores already was lopsided from the bottom. If I could give them 0 starts I would whole heartedly. My dress came in yesterday 11/19 and today 11/20 I came to pick it up. I got here and at first I though the dress was perfect... turns out the dress was ripped and a whole piece of material was missing. They stated that the dress would go to the tailor and it would be perfect also that it would only take an hour. 5 hours later when my dress is finally ready I go and try it back on only to find out that some of the dress was cut and that one side of the dress was higher than the other now. I had to wait on this dress for a month, and this dress was going to be the center of attention. I was heartbroken and the owner on the phone apparently said that the dress was $750 but that was only the start of his lies. The dress was $650. He said he'd offer us somewhere in between $65-100 off and then when it came down to it he said it'll be $50 off for the inconvenience. So now we have a liar on 2 accounts. I asked to speak to the owner and they tried to shove our money back in our face to get us out of the store before we can cause a problem for them. I told them no I want the dress. I am absolutely heartbroken by my experience at Modessa Couture. I suggest no one goes and spends their money on a dress only for it to not be how they expected it. read more

I went today shopping for a dress for my niece quinceanera which fashion district has so many options that you can lose yourself there for hours. We went in the store around 11 am since it was next to our parking area. We looked had some okay dresses nothing I liked but my sister was intrigued by a dress on the "clearance rack" a young lady who was pleasant and helpful asked if we needed help my sister said she liked dress but wanted to look at other shops before buying and in the meantime the young lady can find her size,she said she will do her best and we will see her later. We went shopping and came back around 4pm my sister asked if she can speak to young lady who helped us and another was nice to get her. She got dress my sister picked and took her to dressing room to try on,I was sitting in wait area while she did that. As I sat there I overheard her snobby manager snap at employee why she was going out her way for my sister since her dress was "clearance rack" and there was other customers waiting for dressing room with quality dresses! I've never been so appalled by behavior like that especially coming from someone who looks like they came to country illegally. I've heard her speak and her English was bad and spoke spanish only. At this point my sister got upset and said never mind,she wanted to leave. I wanted to punch the bitch in her face. No customer service,compassion or professionalism. I hope the owners of this shop know she is not helping them make money but be lose profit. We will never return and I'm sure they dont care but the shop next to them got business of 3 woman who spent $500 in dresses. I know I'm not the only one has experienced this,she seems like it's a habit she has in being desperate for commission. BEWARE!! Avoid purchasing a dress from this place at all cost. Bought a dress for a wedding and left there for alterations. Dress was supposed to be delivered within 10 days. They did not delivery until two months after, and didnt have a dress for the event it was purchased for. Went to the store to return the dress once it arrived and asked for a full refund as it was never used and was extremely late. The owner was very rude and denied my request. All in all lost money on the dress, had to buy a replacement and had the worst customer service experience ive ever had. read more
