Awful company, awful service, awful boots. I purchased the Jett Patent Croc In black. The boots took over a year to get to me, customer service communication was virtually nonexistent. I had to consistently call them once a month to get an update, always getting the same answer that they'll ship the shoes soon. When the boots finally arrived, THEY WERE FAKE. THE LEATHER IS FAKE. Order these boots online - I think this company might be a scam. These are rad looking boots but the service is a joke. I went online and ordered, with a 50% off coupon. I received a strange-looking generic emailed receipt with my order number on it and some of the order details. The receipt tells you that your order may take up to 8 weeks, for your shoes to be made-to-order. Ordered on December 22nd, and emailed them a follow up with my order information on April 1st asking for status on my order. I received no response to my email. Then I noticed on their Facebook page LOTS of people in the comments sections with the exact same problems as me. Additionally they're complaining that there is essentially zero customer service, missing orders for 5+ months, complaining the shoes have zero quality control, poor materials used, and major manufacturing issues. Update: I finally received the boots I ordered on April 9. A pair of boots that was supposed to arrive in 90 days ended up taking 440 days. I didn't get any shipping updates, and they just showed up at my door in a nondescript USPS box. I'm not changing my rating because I think that's an unreasonable amount of time to wait without receiving communications from them, and it was way too difficult to get someone to return my emails. On the plus side the boots looked exactly like they looked in the photo. I can't really speak for the quality of the craftsmanship yet because I haven't worn them out on account of the pandemic. When I saw there was a sale, I ordered the Original Bolt in pink suede with the intention of wearing them during my bachelorette party. That was on January 1, 2021; the bachelorette party was April 1. At the time, the website said all orders would be received within 90 days. I assumed it couldn't possibly take that long to get one pair of shoes, and even if it was pushing it, I would at least be able to wear them to my bridal shower on April 25 - 114 days after the order had been placed. I didn't hear from Modern Vice. No updates, no nothing. I emailed them and got one haphazard reply followed by silence. I emailed them an additional three times. No response. When I saw they were giving away a pair of Original Bolt boots on Instagram this week, I sent them a DM and actually heard back. I have attached my recent correspondence with the company consisting of Instagram and text messages. Are they being nice about it? Yes, but I do not want another pair of boots. I want the boots I have already waited 119 days for. I want the boots I paid for. I want the boots I was guaranteed would ship by April 1 at the LATEST. And now they're saying I might have to wait an additional six to 12 weeks? Another 84 days? That's INSANE. I have no confidence these shoes will be done for my honeymoon a month from now. Our family simply loves Modern Vice. Each of us have one pair from them, and we get compliments on them every time we wear them out. The quality and craftsmanship shows -- we barely needed time to break them in. And, a couple of years on, they have become as comfortable as a pair of boots can get. Their service has been top notch. Jordan and Sylvia helped find the right boots for us, and have gone above and beyond with help whenever we needed them. While they have a selection of pre-made boots available for sale, I highly recommend the chance to get a custom-made pair. It takes time, as they are made by hand, on-site. But they are definitely worth the wait. I cannot recommend these guys enough. read more

**UPDATE** 5/24/2019 You can see the very nice review I wrote below, which was approx 3 months ago. I take it all back. This place is utter BS, and they can go do one. Heed the poor reviews, people are writing them for a reason. I bought 2 pairs of boots, one is from their sister brand which was been perfectly fine and they stretched them for me. I have no qualms about the talent of the shoemakers, and the time and effort they put into this footwear. The custom pair I bought, the zip broke on the left boot (apparently due to a faulty batch). I took them back to the showroom. Then replaced it and sent it by courier to me. I live in NY where the factory is located. This was in the beginning of March. A week later, the zipper on the right boot broke. I emailed and phoned them, and was soundly ignored. I went past the showroom which is not convenient to me at all and complained. I asked for a refund due to the fact I had to keep going back and forth for faulty items. They refused to give me one, then the owner as a gesture of good will said I could have a refund or an extra pair for free. I took the extra pair so I could gift it to a friend who had also admired the boots. That was around the 23rd of March. It has been 2 months. There have been no boots, no emails, no calls. They have ignored me, and frankly I'm sick and tired of their shenanigans. I called my credit card company, filed a claim and got my money back. Do not waste your time, or money here. I sent friends there, who all bought shoes. I wrote reviews when asked to by the owner, and was genuine in my praise, because I liked the concept and the idea of it. But it's not worth your time. I ordered these shoes in November 2018, and was told there would be a 30-45 business day wait. In mid-February (about 60 business days later), I contacted to ask what was going on. I got the customer service run-around for a few days, and then was offered a pair of free shoes as an apology (this I did receive) and was told my shoes would arrive by the end of the month. The shoes did arrive at the end of February, and they were noticeably asymmetrical--the shaft of one boot was almost an inch shorter than the other, and the studs lining the back weren't lined up properly. I contacted them again and this time received a call from the owner, who told me he would expedite a replacement order for me. This did not happen. My mid-March, I had received neither a status update nor a return label for the faulty shoes. I contacted customer service yet again and received a shipping label, this time with a promise that my shoes would arrive by March 22. I didn't immediately return the shoes as I was wary of their continued false promises, and didn't want to send my shoes off never to hear from the company again. I messaged customer service on March 22 after the shoes (surprise) didn't arrive, but this time received no response. I also attempted to call the owner at the number he called me from before--no response, and voicemail was full (probably from complaining customers). I managed to get a hold of him today, March 25, and he aggressively told me that they wouldn't send me a replacement pair until they received the faulty pair in my possession. At no point was I told that this was the process. He told me they would ship out the shoes this week, but honestly at this point I've given up hope. This experience has been appalling considering the price point of the shoes they sell. Customer service is slow to respond and rude when they do. Winter has now come and gone and I'll have no use for leather boots in Los Angeles spring weather. I would have cancelled my order a long time ago if the shoes weren't so beautiful. I placed an order back in November of 2019 for 3 pairs of boots. I have only received 2. I recently received an email stating it would take 8-12 more weeks for the final pair to ship. That would make it one year later for a pair of boots. The one pair i have received has fallen apart. I sent it back for a repair, but it came back basically in the same condition. I asked them what was the construction, glue slapped on a sole or hand sewn? No response. My bet is it's glue slapped on a heel with some leather. I am very very very disappointed in the construction. And the fact it's been a year and i still don't have my Donna Boot is disgusting. Total scam. Boots were ordered in March 2019, the company finally responded in July 2020 stating that they were delayed "due to COVID". Unfortunately, these were ordered a whole year before we'd even heard of COVID-19. A few weeks later, after much pestering via social media, the admitted the boots "got lost". What an amazing experience at Modern Vice! My friend brought me to their show room about a week ago. I am still thinking about it. Their show room extends to their work space where the boots and shoes are made. We were given a brief tour of their space and process. I never saw anything like it. EVERY SINGLE PIECE is hand cut, and sewn. Every strap, shape, cut out. Not a single dye cut is used. I was beyond impressed with the quality of craftsmanship put into these boots. What can I say, I am obsessed with my new Jett Croc boots! Which I was able to customize and make totally my own!! I was fortunate enough to be able to walk Into their showroom in nyc! It was so cool to see all the hard work that goes into every shoe that is made there and I totally understood why it can take time to get that perfect pair of boots. This goes against the wording in the coupon offer that said what was in my cart could be discounted and is extremely misleading! I ordered 2 pairs of boots supposedly they are hand made to order boots in which you need to give them feet measurements so literally custom made - there is no way to give them your measurements not even at time of order?? So when I received my Jetts they were to small, and I requested the studs to be left off. The boots were totally cheap looking, the studs were on and crooked and the seams were damaged and the leather on each boot was different - high quality Italian leather NO WAY try Mexican tannery hard thick rough leather.
