I'm honestly going to just copy paste my initial review from google since it was lengthy lol "I cannot rave enough about Modern Vice! First of all I have to come to their defense because there are some people that don't seem to understand what the made to order concept is. Yes, if you order a pair of Modern Vice shoes it will take a while to receive them but heres why: THEY ARE HAND CRAFTED, MANUFACTURED IN NYC, HIGH END DESIGNER, ARTISAN SHOES! They only produce specialty items ONCE AN ORDER IS PLACED. They are not a mass produced fast-fashion-sweat-shop factory. Their mission is to create beautiful-fun shoe art using long standing methods. They strive to put in all their passion and skills to make their customers happy. The very people who make these wonderful pieces are skilled masters of their craft who only want to use top quality materials. They curate and only work with the finest leathers and fabrics to make a statement shoe that will stand the test of time. So yes, if you order from Modern Vice please be patient. Their shoes are worth the wait and worth the price. So back to my personal review of my experience with Modern Vice. I knew what I was getting into wanting my dream pair of shoes from them. I appreciate the time, care and passion their team put into my pair of David Bowie Bolt boots! These boots were ordered earlier this year and as we all know how 2020 went....well of corse there were going to be delays. But we kept up communication via emails, Modern Vice took the time to walk me every step of the way as they created my boots. They did everything they could to catch up with all their orders since the pandemic forced them to shut down for a long time. Once their design studio was opened they did their best to make sure I got my boots. I moved and they updated my order to deliver them to my new address. Once I received my boots I immediately tried them on and OH MY GOOD they softest leather! They are so beautiful! I sent them an email to thank them for my AMAZING boots and they were so kind and sweet. You can tell that they really pride themselves in the quality of their shoes and the ability to make their customers happy! I will MOST DEFINITELY purchase shoes from Modern Vice again, they have a new loyal customer for life! " **Side note, my line of work has me standing for long periods of time. These shoes are going to be super comfortable during my long standing shifts** read more

Terribly run company . I sent in a pair of boots for repair over 3 years ago and haven't heard anything back . I have tried to email, call, text , IG message and they will respond once and then not respond after I state I haven't received my boots back . I don't know how they are still in business with how damn expensive their boots are and it seems no one even works there . read more

Awful company, awful service, awful boots. I purchased the Jett Patent Croc In black. The boots took over a year to get to me, customer service communication was virtually nonexistent. I had to consistently call them once a month to get an update, always getting the same answer that they'll ship the shoes soon. When the boots finally arrived, THEY WERE FAKE. THE LEATHER IS FAKE. Unbelievable. Complete bait and switch as the website clearly lists the boots as all leather. I could not be more disappointed. Waited a whole year for a fake product. I'm embarrassed to wear these out because they cracked so badly after only a few wears. You could get higher quality products from Temu or Shein. Save your money, buy your shoes literally anywhere else. If you purchased shoes form this company, speak to an attorney like I did about your options. read more

Order these boots online - I think this company might be a scam. These are rad looking boots but the service is a joke. I went online and ordered, with a 50% off coupon. I received a strange-looking generic emailed receipt with my order number on it and some of the order details. The receipt tells you that your order may take up to 8 weeks, for your shoes to be made-to-order. Ordered on December 22nd, and emailed them a follow up with my order information on April 1st asking for status on my order. I received no response to my email. Then I noticed on their Facebook page LOTS of people in the comments sections with the exact same problems as me. Additionally they're complaining that there is essentially zero customer service, missing orders for 5+ months, complaining the shoes have zero quality control, poor materials used, and major manufacturing issues. I sent a message via FB to Modern Vice and days later I got a response that only reads "I will check" and then no follow up. Check out their Better Business Bureau reviews. read more

Update: I finally received the boots I ordered on April 9. A pair of boots that was supposed to arrive in 90 days ended up taking 440 days. I didn't get any shipping updates, and they just showed up at my door in a nondescript USPS box. I'm not changing my rating because I think that's an unreasonable amount of time to wait without receiving communications from them, and it was way too difficult to get someone to return my emails. On the plus side the boots looked exactly like they looked in the photo. I can't really speak for the quality of the craftsmanship yet because I haven't worn them out on account of the pandemic. I will provide an update once I've worn them a few times. read more

Modern Vice boots are good quality, there is no disputing that. I already have one pair and my mom has several I regularly borrow. When I saw there was a sale, I ordered the Original Bolt in pink suede with the intention of wearing them during my bachelorette party. That was on January 1, 2021; the bachelorette party was April 1. At the time, the website said all orders would be received within 90 days. I assumed it couldn't possibly take that long to get one pair of shoes, and even if it was pushing it, I would at least be able to wear them to my bridal shower on April 25 - 114 days after the order had been placed. I didn't hear from Modern Vice. No updates, no nothing. I emailed them and got one haphazard reply followed by silence. I emailed them an additional three times. No response. When I saw they were giving away a pair of Original Bolt boots on Instagram this week, I sent them a DM and actually heard back. I have attached my recent correspondence with the company consisting of Instagram and text messages. Are they being nice about it? Yes, but I do not want another pair of boots. I want the boots I have already waited 119 days for. I want the boots I paid for. I want the boots I was guaranteed would ship by April 1 at the LATEST. And now they're saying I might have to wait an additional six to 12 weeks? Another 84 days? That's INSANE. I have no confidence these shoes will be done for my honeymoon a month from now. I hope this company proves me wrong. I will continue to update this review. read more

Our family simply loves Modern Vice. Each of us have one pair from them, and we get compliments on them every time we wear them out. The quality and craftsmanship shows -- we barely needed time to break them in. And, a couple of years on, they have become as comfortable as a pair of boots can get. Their service has been top notch. Jordan and Sylvia helped find the right boots for us, and have gone above and beyond with help whenever we needed them. While they have a selection of pre-made boots available for sale, I highly recommend the chance to get a custom-made pair. It takes time, as they are made by hand, on-site. But they are definitely worth the wait. I cannot recommend these guys enough. read more

**UPDATE** 5/24/2019 You can see the very nice review I wrote below, which was approx 3 months ago. I take it all back. This place is utter BS, and they can go do one. Heed the poor reviews, people are writing them for a reason. I bought 2 pairs of boots, one is from their sister brand which was been perfectly fine and they stretched them for me. I have no qualms about the talent of the shoemakers, and the time and effort they put into this footwear. The custom pair I bought, the zip broke on the left boot (apparently due to a faulty batch). I took them back to the showroom. Then replaced it and sent it by courier to me. I live in NY where the factory is located. This was in the beginning of March. A week later, the zipper on the right boot broke. I emailed and phoned them, and was soundly ignored. I went past the showroom which is not convenient to me at all and complained. I asked for a refund due to the fact I had to keep going back and forth for faulty items. They refused to give me one, then the owner as a gesture of good will said I could have a refund or an extra pair for free. I took the extra pair so I could gift it to a friend who had also admired the boots. That was around the 23rd of March. It has been 2 months. There have been no boots, no emails, no calls. They have ignored me, and frankly I'm sick and tired of their shenanigans. I called my credit card company, filed a claim and got my money back. Do not waste your time, or money here. I sent friends there, who all bought shoes. I wrote reviews when asked to by the owner, and was genuine in my praise, because I liked the concept and the idea of it. But it's not worth your time. At all. You can't give 0 stars, but trust me, they deserve 0 stars. read more

I ordered these shoes in November 2018, and was told there would be a 30-45 business day wait. In mid-February (about 60 business days later), I contacted to ask what was going on. I got the customer service run-around for a few days, and then was offered a pair of free shoes as an apology (this I did receive) and was told my shoes would arrive by the end of the month. The shoes did arrive at the end of February, and they were noticeably asymmetrical--the shaft of one boot was almost an inch shorter than the other, and the studs lining the back weren't lined up properly. I contacted them again and this time received a call from the owner, who told me he would expedite a replacement order for me. This did not happen. My mid-March, I had received neither a status update nor a return label for the faulty shoes. I contacted customer service yet again and received a shipping label, this time with a promise that my shoes would arrive by March 22. I didn't immediately return the shoes as I was wary of their continued false promises, and didn't want to send my shoes off never to hear from the company again. I messaged customer service on March 22 after the shoes (surprise) didn't arrive, but this time received no response. I also attempted to call the owner at the number he called me from before--no response, and voicemail was full (probably from complaining customers). I managed to get a hold of him today, March 25, and he aggressively told me that they wouldn't send me a replacement pair until they received the faulty pair in my possession. At no point was I told that this was the process. He told me they would ship out the shoes this week, but honestly at this point I've given up hope. This experience has been appalling considering the price point of the shoes they sell. Customer service is slow to respond and rude when they do. Winter has now come and gone and I'll have no use for leather boots in Los Angeles spring weather. I would have cancelled my order a long time ago if the shoes weren't so beautiful. Buyer beware. read more

Ok, so before yesterday, I was all set to write an angry review. Having read all of the negative ratings on here didn't help, but needless to say - I am more than happy with my boots from Modern Vice. What I wasn't so happy with was the long wait time, but truth be told - it was my mistake for not realizing (and reading) the shoes would take 4-6 weeks to make (as each pair is handmade). Every time I called MV, the customer support was very patient, kind and courteous. Even through my frustration! They never broke kindness, even though at times I was pretty rude. The quality and craftsmanship of these boots are absolutely gorgeous, and they were well worth the wait. The leather is supple and buttery, the boots fit like a glove, and are so comfortable. If you can be patient, and catch one of the MV flash sales on Instagram, I assure you'll be more than happy. read more

I placed an order back in November of 2019 for 3 pairs of boots. I have only received 2. I recently received an email stating it would take 8-12 more weeks for the final pair to ship. That would make it one year later for a pair of boots. The one pair i have received has fallen apart. I sent it back for a repair, but it came back basically in the same condition. I asked them what was the construction, glue slapped on a sole or hand sewn? No response. My bet is it's glue slapped on a heel with some leather. I am very very very disappointed in the construction. And the fact it's been a year and i still don't have my Donna Boot is disgusting. I haven't received any email regarding the "repaired" boot. *sigh* Dont get me wrong, their aesthetic/look is awesome, but that's about it, smoke and mirrors. Not sure i could walk a mile in the boots with out them falling apart. All i wanted to do was shop and support a company that's made in America. I guess I'll have to fly to Italy to find me a solid pair of boots. I've included two pictures. One Is of the damaged boot and one is after the "repair" *sigh* read more

Total scam. Boots were ordered in March 2019, the company finally responded in July 2020 stating that they were delayed "due to COVID". Unfortunately, these were ordered a whole year before we'd even heard of COVID-19. A few weeks later, after much pestering via social media, the admitted the boots "got lost". Took them another 2 weeks to issue a refund. The only way I got them to respond was by replying to posts on IG and Twitter telling others to not buy their merchandise because they don't fulfill orders. I mean, just look at the Yelp reviews. read more

What an amazing experience at Modern Vice! My friend brought me to their show room about a week ago. I am still thinking about it. Their show room extends to their work space where the boots and shoes are made. We were given a brief tour of their space and process. I never saw anything like it. EVERY SINGLE PIECE is hand cut, and sewn. Every strap, shape, cut out. Not a single dye cut is used. I was beyond impressed with the quality of craftsmanship put into these boots. I have now been wearing my boots a little over a week and they are very comfortable, fit prefect, and I love how they look. Thank you Modern Vice. read more

It has been almost 3 months since we ordered a pair of boots. Still have no idea when we will receive them. We ordered the boots on dec 16th off of the available now option. We have contacted them 8 times looking for answers. They said the boots weren't available and would have to make them. Allow 4-6 weeks. After that time they then told us they will ship soon. Well, if you enjoy throwing your dollars into a fan and watching the blades chew up the bills, by all means order from this scam-ass company. Some kind of scam company or really poorly managed. I ordered boots with a 50% off deal off their website back on Jan 15th 2019 and its now May 15th and all I got was a lot of headache. No boots!! They said they will be shipped within 10 days....and of course never showed up. I finally asked for a refund. The response I got back was in all caps, and very rudely told me the code doesn't apply to the section I bought from. So I finally received my boots. I ordered them in January to wear to my wedding in March. They arrived in late November after having been ghosted by the company for about 6 months. When i was able to finally reach them I was given a pair of gift boots to reprieve the situation. Thankfully so, because I have been wearing the guest pair reguarly, however, the pair that I originally ordered arrived missing details and looking rushed. I regret I didn't listen to all the negative reviews about how long they take to ship the boots and how terrible their customer service is. My story is the same as many of yours. I purchased a pair of boots on September 1st and they said they would ship them 30-45 working days, so I waited. By mid-November they hadn't ship my boots so I wrote them on Facebook and they said: "They (customer service) do not have a specific date as to when they will be ready as they are still in production but that it should be soon." I wrote an email directly to customer service on 11/29 and I'm still waiting for an aswer (12/10). At this point I'm seriously considering trying to get my money back. BUYERS BEWARE - The one-star reviews are true. I purchased a $500.00 pair of Jett Crocs with a delivery confirmation of 30-45 business days. Those days have come and gone. I have emailed countless times with no response. I have made daily phone calls which have gone unanswered by a phone with a "full mailbox". If I could give them zero stars I would. It's been a entire year since I originally ordered shoes from this company. 7 months after I ordered them I had to move due to covid, I tried getting into contact with them about an address change, I sent them multiple emails, called them and left them voicemails, texted the number they have available, finally left a post on one of their Instagram photos and someone finally DMed me. A day later I had someone contact me from the company and tell me they would change my address but it would be 8 more weeks before I would get details about shipping. That was 6 months ago...... I texted that same number today to see if they had any details and I haven't heard anything.
