From the very first phone call discussing what we were looking for in our wedding DJ, Tim and the Modern Symphony team were truly the best. One of the things we wanted most for our day was to have our guests out on the dance floor, and they absolutely made that happen. They had song after song ready to go and caught on so quickly to the vibe of our wedding and our guests. They were responsive, on point, knowledgeable, and so incredibly kind throughout the entire process. We truly could not have imagined our day without the energy their team brought. They went above hand beyond to make sure we were happy and that our day was everything we hoped it would be. We are so grateful and would recommend them over and over again! read more

We absolutely loved DJ Tim and Modern Symphony!! I just got married last May and one of the biggest priority was that my music was good and my guests were dancing!! Tim absolutely delivered, and the only complaint from my guests was that we had to stop the music and the dancing due to noise ordinance (we could've gone all night!) . Tim was so kind and thoughtful throughout the process, especially during the day of, he helped us with videography, let us use his fog gun and dry ice for a private dance! The only thing I'd say was there might've been miscommunication on my planners part for the reception entrances because we wanted our bridal party to all be different intros, but Tim and his team bounced back right away and made sure that happened for us at the right times!! I was thrilled he was down for whatever vision we had and executed it perfectly! My walkthrough song was Avatar's Love and they looped it and made it exactly what I needed. Tim really made us feel special and heard throughout our wedding !! DJ Steve helped us during our rehearsal dinner and DJ Junior as Tim's second on the day of, they both killed it!! read more

Modern Symphony - DJ TIM! - DJs Near Me

Tim at Modern Symphony went above and beyond to make sure our wedding day was everything we dreamed of--and more. From the very beginning, he communicated clearly and intentionally, taking the time to understand exactly how we wanted our wedding to feel. It was never just about playing music--it was about creating the perfect atmosphere for every moment of our day. About a month before the wedding, Tim reached out to walk through all the details: playlists, special requests, must-play songs, and more. His organization and attention to detail immediately put us at ease. What truly stood out was that Tim even attended our rehearsal to ensure that every ceremony song was timed perfectly--something we never expected, but so appreciated. And when it came time for the reception... the dance floor was on fire! Everyone kept saying how incredible the party was, and it's all thanks to Tim's energy, music choices, and ability to read the room. He kept the celebration going all night long. We are so grateful to Tim for helping make our wedding day so memorable, joyful, and so much fun! Highly, highly recommend Modern Symphony for anyone looking for a DJ who truly cares and delivers. read more

I truly don't think that I could recommend Tim from Modern Symphony more if I tried. Talk about going above and beyond for a couple! Our wedding day it POURED and Tim made all the adjustments without a single complaint and even held an umbrella over his equipment which left everyone cracking up at his commitment! I truly left the evening so ecstatic with our choice to have Tim and felt like I made a friend out of working with him. I was amazed and everyone loved the music that he played, he worked with us on our ideas and no idea was too big. He even assisted with things so not in his job scope and I just was amazed with his talent! If you have an opportunity to work with Tim from Modern Symphony, DO IT! read more

We LOVE Tim so much! Tim had DJ-ed two of my best friends weddings and both of those were so much fun, that it made picking a wedding DJ so so easy. He makes the whole process so simple and is a great communicator to ensure everything is prepped and set for your wedding. He is all about getting that party going and the party was poppin' on our big day, largely due to how fun and great Tim is at setting the mood and vibe for the wedding per the bride and grooms wants and needs. He played all of our playlists, he kept the good times rolling all night long, and just added so much fun to our already exciting day. He even provided a bubble machine and Co2 machine to add that extra flair and people are still talking about those moments from our wedding. I could go on all day about how wonderful Tim is, so just do yourself and your guests a solid, if you want the party to get started, hire Tim! read more

My husband and I recently had our wedding at Madonna Inn and decided to go with Tim as our DJ. From the beginning of the process Tim had been helpful. Making a Spotify playlist to organize for him was actually pretty easy and took the stress off us with planning. On the day of Rehearsal we weren't aware that we didn't have a Coordinator to guide us. Tim swooped in and saved the day by directing us and helping us understand the order of events. He went above and beyond to help us. The day of the wedding Tim helped keep things in order and helped supplement songs I totally spaced on. My husband and I highly recommend Tim for his patience, professionalism, and value in his work. Thank you so much! read more

We hired Modern Symphony as our wedding DJ and Steve was the absolute best! His communication leading up to the big day was amazing and the guests loved the music! He kept the party going and was overall was just a very nice guy and very accommodating! He even went the extra mile to be at rehearsal so that the music was on point. Can't recommend them enough! read more

We hired Tim for our 10/22/22 wedding in Santa Ynez at a private residence. Before the day, we had a couple of calls with Tim to review our wedding expectations. Tim was very friendly and responsive on the calls and helped put my mind at ease for all those little things we brides stress about leading up to the day. During our wedding, everything Tim did went perfectly! He even made sure to fade out our first dance song after enough time had passed to get the photos, but before it got weird having us swaying there in front of all our guests (this was one of those things we talked to him about leading up to the wedding and he did an amazing job!). We had many guests comment throughout the night about what a great job the DJ was doing picking and mixing our songs. He did an excellent job of reading the vibes and made sure to pick the perfect crowd-pleasers back-to-back-to-back. If you are looking for a reasonably priced, professional, fun, and experienced DJ for your wedding, look no further than Modern Symphony! read more

DJ Mark is awesome! He did a great job as an emcee and DJ at our wedding. Throughout the planning process he was super friendly and extremely responsive. I really appreciate how prepared he was. Leading up to the wedding he had us complete a form with our music preferences, playlist requests, timeline etc. He was nice enough to give us suggestions for a few songs too. We had a wide range of ages at our wedding but everyone had a blast on the dance floor! read more

My husband and I finally had our post-COVID wedding ceremony on 7/10/22 and Tim Lopez was our fantastic DJ! My husband's family mostly stems from Mexico while my family stems from rural parts of the Northwest. Tim made the perfect playlist of traditional Mexican and American wedding songs that kept both of our families on the dance floor all night (no small feat)! Modern Symphony is great to work with - very professional and nice people. If you're looking for a wedding DJ I highly recommend Modern Symphony! read more

We're so happy we chose Modern Symphony for our wedding. Steve is fantastic! From the initial planning stages to the last dance at our wedding, he was a true professional. Steve's attention to detail and ability to keep the energy high made him the life of the party. He flawlessly executed our music preferences and seamlessly transitioned between songs, keeping the dance floor packed all night long. If you're looking for a DJ who will exceed your expectations and keep the celebration going, Steve is the one to choose! read more

We loved working with Modern Symphony! They were very professional, responsive and got people out on the dance floor.

Tim was an absolute pleasure to work with for our wedding in Paso Robles. I was very particular with my playlists for both the Cocktail/Dinner portion, as well as the Reception. Prior to the wedding, we had a great and thorough meeting to review the game plan. Tim took all the notes I gave and hit everything as we had hoped! Most DJs I spoke with prior to hiring Tim were not interested in allowing me to set the playlists and timings, but he was completely open and supportive to our approach which was key to making our dream wedding a reality. He and his team were a real welcomed addition to the party and made timely announcements + conveyed information to the guests. I could not recommend Tim more! read more

DJ Mark is amazing! He has such strong and positive energy. He reviewed all our songs with us before the wedding and it went so smoothly at the wedding ceremony and reception. Everyone loved the song choices and I highly recommend Mark! read more

I hired Tim to DJ my wedding and he did EXACTLY what was expected of him. He is very good at reading the crowd and he had the dance floor completely full ALL night. He was recommended to me by my wedding planner and I have zero regrets!! read more

DJ was supposed to show up to the reception dinner he never did (assuming because we paid the service in full the day prior). We had 2 phone calls and multiple email exchanges to get expectations clear and he did the complete opposite of what we wanted. I spent a year putting together our playlist along with choreographed dances all we needed him to do was to play the playlist in the order it was in our Spotify. He played songs out of the list as well as mixing the order throughout the entire night amid our reminders. My entrance to the ceremony was also wrongly timed. I feel so unhappy about the service that even at my honeymoon I stress about how something so straightforward went wrong. Music and dance was big part of our wedding as well as our culture and remembering it all going wrong really makes me extremely sad. This is the biggest regret I have from my wedding. read more

We were lucky to have Tim & Mark DJ our wedding and couldn't recommend Modern Symphony any higher. From the first point of contact to the day of the event Tim was very flexible and helpful towards our needs. We delayed our wedding several times throughout 2 years and he stuck with us meanwhile keeping the pricing consistent. The day before the wedding, as we voiced our concerns for lighting at the venue, Tim even threw in uplighting at no additional charge! When the day of the event arrived, Tim was very communicative and accommodating as we changed some songs/moments on-the-fly. He played all of our favorites that we had previously selected and blended other music seamlessly throughout the night. The announcements were spot-on as well and they pronounced all names flawlessly. Tim & Mark made our wedding a day to remember-- thanks again! read more

Tim is amazing!! Seriously, my husband and I are beyond grateful for Tim and his partner. We didn't have a wedding coordinator at our wedding and I was feeling nervous about the flow of the day. However, Tim did such an incredible job of directing people and helping everything to flow perfectly. We honestly could not have done it with out him!! Aside from that, his DJ skills were on point! Everyone was having a great time, my grandma even danced with me to "Get Low", she's in her 80's but she was feeling the vibe that Tim was putting off. Tim was also super helpful in making sure people kept their cell phones tucked away. Tim also took a photo of my husband and I walking down the aisle, and it is by far one of my favorites from the day. Overall, Tim and his partner killed it. Hire him!! He is the best out there!! You will be so happy you hired him! Thank you Tim!! read more

We absolutely loved working with Tim leading up to our wedding and he was incredible on the day of, dealing with a complicated set of requests with ease. Even with a late addition of adding singers to both the ceremony and toasts, Tim accommodated our request without a second thought. He was also great with the music and dancing, incorporating a playlist of songs that our guests requested in their RSVPs and adding his picks to keep people entertained and on the dance floor. read more

My husband and I had a great time at our wedding thanks to the fun music throughout the night. Tim was an amazing DJ! They were very professional and kept the party going the whole night. They got everyone on the dance floor and were great at noticing what songs were a hit with the guests (all Bay Area music as that is where we are originally from). We danced the whole night away and our guests kept telling us they had the best time. Even a month after our wedding I still hear from our friends that our wedding was the most fun! I was incredibly impressed with them and how they checked in with me and my wedding coordinator throughout the night. They helped us through the kind of party we wanted our wedding to be. read more

Tim was wonderful! Attentive and very helpful at my daughter Madeleine's June 2nd wedding at the Santa Maria Inn. He came to the rehearsal and made sure that the music she chose worked and offered helpful suggestions for songs and for keeping things moving along with our timeline. When the time came to dance he picked all the right songs to keep several generations on the dance floor and really made the whole party enjoyable for everyone. I have been involved in the planning of several weddings and he is hands down the best DJ we have ever used. I would recommend him to anyone. read more

I was SO extremely disappointed with this DJ at my wedding. When my (now) husband and I had met with him a few months before the wedding, he seemed charismatic, fun, and truly interested in his profession and clients. We provided him with a timeline of events so he would know when to introduce what, and to basically keep the flow of the wedding going. The day of we both wondered what happened to the charismatic guy we had met a few months earlier. On our special day, he seemed bored, unprofessional, and failed to keep the flow going whatsoever. The garter toss/bouquet toss never happened because he never bothered to announce it, though it was clearly stated in the timeline of events that it should occur after the cake cutting. I received many comments from my 60+ guests that he was "one of the worst DJs they had ever experienced at a wedding." Not exactly the kind of thing you want to hear when you carefully choose a DJ for your special day. Music, dancing, flow... those were all high on my priority list. Not to mention, he began packing up before the end time that was listed on the contract and my dad had to tell him to keep playing or else he would be getting dinged. When it was time to pay, he attempted to overcharge, but thankfully my dad had a copy of the contract that was signed by both parties. I would not recommend Laptop Symphony to ANYONE, nor would ANY of the guests at my wedding. Totally, utterly embarrassing. read more

I cannot describe how happy my husband and I are for making a decision to book Tim for our Santa Barbara wedding. First of all, he was a pleasure to deal with from the get go. He was extremely responsive, easygoing, professional and he actually genuinely loves what he does (which is a must in this industry)! He was getting so excited when I would send him our choice of music! And boy did he make the party happen! We had a huge wedding party full of people who were most excited to party and hear all of our favorite songs - and he did just that and more! Everyone, from young to old were up and dancing! He also provided the uplighting and a customized logo for us! Everything looked absolutely stunning! Thank you so much Tim for such an undorgettable event for everyone!!! We recently had Modern Symphony provide services to my wedding on 9/25. We had Mark as our DJ. Mark was AMAZING. I've always heard that the DJ could make or break a wedding/event, but Mark was PERFECT! He had the best music selection. Everyone was out on the floor dancing and having a great time. Even people who don't dance were out there. People were talking about it for days! Honestly it was my favorite part of the whole event. He provided excellent services. He was kind and provided great advice for song selection. I would highly recommend and use his services in the future. read more

Thank you so much Modern Symphony for making our day AMAZING! We had so many last minute changes due to it raining less than an hour before our ceremony and they went above and beyond to adapt and make everything perfect! they had great communication and completely surpassed our expectations! I used Modern Symphony for a grad celebration. The DJ sent by TIm Lopez was a great gent named Jr. I had only experienced TIm's professional manner. Thank you Jr. and TIm for another successful celebration! read more

We might be a little biased, but Tim and Modern Symphony delivered the best party of our lives. From the first time we talked, it was clear Tim had everything under control and knew exactly what he was doing. From getting a mic set up for our ceremony, to the speeches, to perfect sound around our entire venue (much of it outdoors), to the beautiful bistro lights that created the atmosphere we wanted, Tim and his crew got it all done flawlessly. It was very clear that he was 100% concerned with what we wanted for our day. On top of all that, he was super friendly and the kind of guy we looked forward to hanging out with -- and the kind of guy to get people out on the dance floor. If you want smooth sailing and low stress for your special day, we highly recommend Tim and Modern Symphony. read more

We were very privileged to have Modern Symphony DJ at our daughter's wedding. Tim went above and beyond, even when we had last minute changes for the venue he was so accommodating. He met with us several times and helped us coordinate. Throughout the wedding and reception he made sure we were comfortable and on schedule without any pressure. Everything flowed so smoothly throughout the evening and he was right on time with the music we picked out for the timeline... I highly recommend using Modern Symphony for any venue, you will not be disappointed. I give them 10 Stars read more

Tim Lopez was extremely helpful from beginning to end. He was responsive and helped us get everything figured out. On the day of him and his assistant did a great job of entertaining guests and keeping the flow of the wedding. They worked well with my husband and I to figure out what we wanted to do and if any changes needed to be made as far as the wedding timeline. They were very productive and all the guests including ourselves had a wonderful and stress free evening. He gave us a really good price and provided all the lighting and even a personalized monogram. read more

I don't think I could have asked for a better man to get the party started on my wedding day. Tim was there to help us through the rehearsal and the next day was flawless. I sent him a playlist of songs I liked and he took it from there - once I was on the dance floor I didn't want to leave - he could read the crowd so well! I'm so happy that we had him for our wedding! I would highly recommend them, great communication and easy to work with! read more

We don't currently reside in the Central Coast so it was important for us to find vendors who were flexible, able to answer our questions in a timely manner, and make us feel comfortable. The first impression was made over the phone by Mark Gonzales, and the passion and charisma definitely showed! After having all the right answers to our questions ranging from music choices, to interactions with guests, to master of ceremonies, we had to book right away! A helpful timeline/itinerary was provided by Mark that outlined all the music for: the ceremony, grand entrance, first dance, parent dances, cocktail hour, dinner, money dance and general dancing. It was a lot to think about, but we asked for Mark's suggestions on music for the procession portion of the ceremony and he definitely delivered! In addition, we needed his help with providing a template of our monogram, because what we had in mind just wasn't working. So he provided a website for us to go off of and from there we made a decision on what to use. Additionally, we wanted our grand entrance to be something special, something we customized, and I am sure Mark had his work cut out for him. We wanted separate songs played for our parents and sponsors, for our ring bearer and flower girls, for each groomsmen and bridesmaid pair, and of course a separate song for us, the bride and groom. Mark made it work and he did it without question! It was also a big hit during our wedding. Everyone loved it! Before the day our wedding we met with Mark three times. Our First face to face meeting was a couple of months before our wedding. We made a trip to the central coast and set up a time to meet Mark at the venue, The Cypress Ridge Pavilion. We also met his sweet assistant, Taylor. He wanted to scope out the venue and take notes of where to set up all of his equipment. He definitely wanted to be ready for our wedding day. On the second meeting was the week of the wedding, we met to pay the balance and go over last minute questions and clarifications. Again, Mark was super nice and had great attention to detail. It was a short meeting and he also mentioned that he wanted to be at our wedding rehearsal that friday. We definitely didn't expect him to be there, but the fact that he wanted to showed yet again showed much he wanted to make sure everything went according to plan. The third meeting he showed up at our wedding rehearsal with the monogram and at that time we were able to decide where to place it on the day of our wedding. I am glad he did, because we originally planned for it to be displayed on the fireplace and then we decided to have it placed on the opposite wall. Since he was there for the rehearsal, we were also able to rehearse our grand entrance. These were all things taken care of before our wedding day and we were so happy we got it all taken care of before the wedding! On the day of our wedding, Mark was very professional as our MC and our DJ. He played all the songs on our list during cocktail hour, during dinner and kept the party going on the dance floor. Let's just say the dance floor was packed all the way up until the last song. Mark was not stationary MC standing near the DJ booth, he was interactive. He even took it upon himself to personally go up to each table, and dismiss them for dinner. Mark was a key helper in keeping our wedding on schedule. The music and sound quality during the ceremony was perfect. There was no cutting in and out. This was consistent throughout the night. The uplighting was perfectly set up inside the pavilion and the monogram was the icing on the cake. The setup of where Mark had his equipment was never in the way. Joey and I were so grateful to have Mark there for us every step of the way, leading up to our wedding day! All of our friends and family definitely complimented on how professional and nice Mark was at our wedding. His effort to help make everything go smoothly on our wedding day showed! Thank you again Mark, Taylor, and Modern Symphony! read more

I can't say enough good things about Tim and Modern Symphony!! I have been to a number of weddings where the DJ ruins the vibe and kills the mood, so finding a good DJ for our wedding was extremely important for me. From day 1 Tim was responsive, personable, and easy to work with. He was quick to answer emails, phone calls, and texts. On rehearsal he came prepared with all the music for the wedding party and made sure we were 100% ready for the big day. On our wedding day, he helped everything run smoothly and stick to our timeline. From announcements, to music, lighting, Tim was amazing. Our dance floor was PACKED all night long and everyone commented on the great music. I would recommend Tim in a heartbeat. Thank you Tim!!! read more
