Like many such bathroom-plumbing works, this is a complicated installation that can easily go wrong a hundred ways. The RR people planned it and did it at one go. Done right! Our compliments on the excellent work by the technician who visited us to install the shower door (apologies - I did not write down his name). He did an overall fantastic job, start to finish, earning a 100/100. He is competent, professional, and courteous. He answered all our questions patiently and stayed focused on the job without rushing it. Notably, the final cleanup was so thorough! Earlier, the person who visited us for the estimation and measurement was equally good- very knowledgeable! The office personnel who handle the scheduling are very responsive and understanding of our (customers') changing needs and priorities. At first, we were concerned about the high-end quote, but every cent of the price was worth it. Good job, Refreshing Renovations, and the management and support team. I think this is the same company that advertises free inspections and quotes on roofs but the call…read morethat I got back was $450 for a roof inspection. WOW. Big difference, so I took a pass. I did not say anything about selling the house. I was looking to find out if I need to replace the roof yet (the shingles are starting to curl). I had another company come out instead and give me their opinion on the roof's useful time left.

My husband and I hired USA Pro Construction for a project to remodel our kitchen. This included…read moreceramic tile from the entryway through the kitchen to the powder room; new powder room vanity, lights, towel rack, toilet paper holder; kitchen cabinets, kitchen backsplash, granite countertop; painting, light fixture in hall, new baseboard; electric and plumbing for garbage disposal, sink and dishwasher, over-the-counter microwave. I really like Mike and believe he, his brother Keith and a couple of intermittent helpers basically know what they are doing. I would like to say I love the finished product, but it is just okay. Besides the overall incomplete and/or rushed items done in a non-professional manner (paint, trim) and the fact a 3-4-week estimate turned into 7-8 weeks, two of the largest items have major issues. 1. Our new cabinets went up right after the demolition of the kitchen and I immediately noticed they were the wrong cabinets. After admitting this was his mistake Mike continued to tell us new doors were coming. This lie continued for three months. We have now found out that we cannot just replace the doors. Our only option is to order unfinished doors and have them stained, etc. as close as possible to the color of our cabinets. We withheld part of our last payment to Mike but the total expense to replace the doors is more than double the amount we withheld. Unfortunately, we have decided to install the doors that were ordered in error even though they are far from what we wanted and have some minor scratches. My husband installed them. 2. The ceramic tile we had installed is a wood grain look. As the days went by after installation, we could see there was a haze on the tile. Mike said it might take 13 washes or more to remove this haze and twice he mopped on a special acidic cleaner. This did not help. After my 70-year-old husband spent two days (two different times) on the floor applying an acidic cleaner by hand and mopping the floor well over 13 times, the haze remains. We now are having a tile and grout company cleaning the tile, repairing a couple of loose tiles, adding grout where it has come out and sealing the grout in both our floor and backsplash ... with no guarantee the haze can be removed. Mike also promised to give us all receipts and warranties but, after numerous requests, that has not happened. Maybe this job was more than they could handle both knowledge-wise and size-wise or possibly their experience lies in other areas of construction. I know money may have been an issue for ordering new doors, but all Mike needed to do was let us know and we would have paid for them and deducted the cost from the last payment. Maybe better quality and less messiness will come with more experience and I hope for Mike's success with his business, but his priority should be honesty in communicating with his clients and quality work.

I did a lot of homework before selecting a contractor to complete this job. I got five quotes,…read morechecked references on line, and asked for referrals from the insulation company we used who are the ones who tore up our bathroom to begin with due to condensation as a result of poor insulation at the rim joists. Ken was not the highest or the lowest quote I received. However, he was the most consistent and responsive with the best reputation. After the job was done - his quote matched the price I paid! Drywall Day: Let me tell you - the insulation guys tore up my bathroom. Their cuts were jagged, they had spray foam everywhere, they stapled plastic into every wall, and I felt terrible for the drywall people who had to put it back together. Ken sent two men to repair the drywall. They were quiet guys, but extremely respectful of my home and very professional. They replaced over 50 square feet of drywall that was sloped up to a ten foot ceiling. They even did some minor repair to the walls/window sill to prepare it for painting the following week. Their taping and skill with replacing the drywall put me at ease immediately that I made the right decision in choosing Ken for this job. These guys were really top notch. Painting Day: Ken let me know ahead of time that drywall and painting would be about a week apart. I was completely fine with this and I really appreciated him letting me know proactively about the scheduling. His excellent communication allowed me to have reasonable expectations of what to expect for scheduling and timing of the job. Painting went smoothly. Ken is punctual, polite, funny, and most importantly - he is very skilled! This is not exactly a tiny bathroom and it has a lot of obstacles like two large vanities, a shower, a jaccuzi tub, mirrors, etc. He painted the ceilings in the bathroom, water closet, and hallway. While the ceiling dried Ken prepped the walls. Ken was a true professional working with speed, efficiency, and a great attention to detail. The lines where the wall meet the ceiling were sharp and not wavy. I really dislike when I walk into a room and look up and you can see where an unsteady hand made wavy paint lines into the white of the ceiling - Ken's lines were crisp and just as I would expect them to be when paying a professional to do the job. Once the paint was up on the ceiling and walls it was also clear what an outstanding job the drywall guys did as well. You could not see a drywall seam - it is flawless. I recommend Ken for any painting and drywall needs. He himself is a true professional and obviously takes great pride in his work. Based on my experience with his drywall team, he only hires the best to work alongside him. I already requested to be added to his schedule to paint our nursery and put up a chair rail (preliminary quote is between $500-600 for that job INCLUDING paint and chair rail). Ken also does remodeling - I really look forward to using him for several tile jobs, vanity replacements, back-splash, etc in the future.
