I came here for a pedicure with my Boyfriend. The lady named Kim did mine. It was not relaxing or enjoyable at all. The massage was about 12 minutes long and I asked her about 3-4 times to press harder and she didn't. It felt like she was tickling me and lightly brushing her fingers up and down. Awful. I asked her to rub the stones on my heels instead of the tops of my feet since it was burning the sensitive skin and she did not do that either. A total joke. I would recommend asking for Someone else if you go there and get her or choosing another nail salon all together. The best part was the massage chair even though it kept shutting off every few minutes. read more

Definitely my nail salon of choice in Langley. The staff is friendly, most are quite happy to let you relax without chit-chatting (unless you want to that is) and they're very good at what they do. Massage chairs for pedicures. My favorite! Every time I've come here for a mani or pedi I've been happy with the results. Pedis are good for at least 2 weeks! I'm tough on my hands but I can usually keep a mani (from here) nice for about a week. They take care to put top coat over the ends of your nails. If you want a design on your nails, their artwork is very delicate and pretty. Great prices. Good service and a clean, bright salon. read more

So today I went to MODERN NAILS LANGLEY location, to go and get a fill for my acrylic nails and a pedicure. Got my pedicure done and it was really great. Not uncomfortable and was very professional. Then I sat down with JOHN who is the OWNER and nail technician to do my acrylic fill. AGAINST my wishes HE DECIDED that my fill would be easier and less time consuming to deal with if he just took off my existing fake nail. Again, I told him that I did not want to rip off my fake nails and he then said that it was a good idea and easier for him. (For those of you that are unfamiliar, the MOST DAMAGING and FAST way to get the acrylic nails off is to use an unused nail tip, and RIP APART the natural nail from the fake one. No soaking or anything. THIS IS UNCOMFORTABLE AND CAN BE EXTREMELY PAINFUL) JOHN RIPPED OFF MY NATURAL NAIL that was still attached to my acrylic.. HE SAW that he ripped off that nail and continued to RIP off the rest of my set!!! He then tried to tell me that I damaged my old nail for it to do that. Come on we all know he took very little due, care and attention just to make his life easier. Then told me he was not going to charge me for what he had done... thanks for that. So then he said he was sorry. What does that do for me. NOTHING. What is done is done. He then told me to come back in a couple days and he will put new nails in. Really do you think I'm going to return to you. I told him I was going to Mexico tmrw and he asked why u never told him that. What business is it if his anyways and what should that matter in the first place. So PLEASE LADIES make them do there job properly in the first place. I will not be returning to him as this was not professional at all. Now I'm off for holidays with no nails and two very tender nail beds. read more

I have been going to this Salon for a few years now since moving to Langley but I will not be back. I went here a few days ago for a manicure. When I left I accidentally hit my right thumb nail on my jacket button and wrecked my manicure. The little man who gave me the manicure started yelling at me and got all pissy with me like it was some major inconvenience for him to fix. I will not be back. read more

Went with friends for pedicures and decided to do manicures too. The ladies were great! However the man (assuming the manager) was rude and abnoxious. He kept fluctuating from client to client and wrecked the beautiful work the previous nail tech had done. Plus he did not change gloves, sanitize or wash his own hands in between touching other people. He actually told me that he was trying to make us happy but was losing customers..! A very clean place, staff are always smiling and friendly. The owner John is super nice, always remembers your name and what you were in for the last time you were there. The specials are really really cheap. Parking is readily available. Food shops all around and even a Starbucks where you can go for food and drinks after your treatment and admire those gorgeous fingernails and toenails. read more

My experience with this nail salon was horrible and although the environment is clean I don't feel their practises with personal hygiene are.....(how many other people have you used that nail file on???) The majority of the staff do not speak English so if you want a nail design that isn't EXACTLY like the one shown, forget it and instead of asking how long or short I wanted my nails the lady cut my nail to the length she thought and said "is that ok"? It was so short you could hardly see the tip of the nail over my finger!! Then I was charged for the tip they had to put on to fix it. I don't know what product they use but the lady was telling me I was done and the nails were sticky!!! They call that finished????? The finished product didn't even last a week!!!! The top layer of gel on my thumb actually peeled off........Has anyone ever heard of that???? I've been having my nails done for almost a year by a lady in Mission who is Phenominal and that has never happened to me before. I have been to Modern Nails twice now and both times had below satisfactory experience. The first time my shellac pedicure was awful, the nail shaping was round on some toes and square on the others ones. Second time around it somewhat improved and manicure looked decent. I was hoping that they would not talk rudely about customers while they are trying to get a pedicure or manicure done. The comments about customers being 'cheap' if they want a regular pedicure instead of a shellac was offensive, I was suppose to get a manicure but I cancelled the manicure. Some of the women were laughing too that I could not afford a dollar more and also made other comments. I do not appreciate being called 'cheap'; I was offended and will recommend my friends and family go elsewhere for manicure/ pedicure. There was no apology for the rude comments but just silence afterwards. I was and am still extremely angry and will not be returning. Got a set of white tip acrylic nails. The white tip was halfway down my nail and looked awful. It looked very fake and chunky, they looked hideous. he was filing with the electric nail bit and he was drilling into the skin underneath nail which was painful.1 day later my real nail was coming unglued from the fake nail... I couldn't stand to look at them so I went somewhere else to get them taken off and redone the way I wanted them to originally look.. my nails were hurting after he was finished and into the next day. he didn't spend time on trying to make my nails look good he just wanted to pump me through and get onto the next person. I was here a few years ago and it was an alright nail salon, pretty standard. But when I recently called to book an appointment for 5 people getting pedicures, he told me to call back the day before to book. I said I wanted to pre-book to make sure we are all sitting together as it's for a special day out for someone, he again told me to call back the day before to book, and hung up. It's clean because it is brand new. Now watch how the basin your feet go into is cleaned. My feet were scalded with the wax treatment. The girl did not test it with her fingers. Held the bag by the edge. Inside toes scorched. Bags are cheap and thin. Broke inside electric boot. Wax seeped out. Ouch! Not going back. Terrible service everytime I went. Rushed nails and bad designs. I would not recommend going here, especially if you want to communicate with the staff since most of them can hardly speak english. When I had brought up a messy nail design the entire staff surrounded me and made me feel extremely uncomfortable. I couldnt understand what they were saying because they were all speaking vietnamese to each other when I brought up the problem. I've been to Modern Nails twice now (one manicure and one mani/pedi) and both times I've been satisfied with the service. The first gel manicure lasted almost 3 weeks, which is much longer than other places I have gone. My second visit was just over a week ago and my gel mani/pedi still looks great. I would highly recommend Tiana - she does an excellent job. When I noticed a couple of very small issues with my french manicure, she immediately fixed them. The place is clean and the massage chairs during the pedi are very comfortable. It's a great place to go if you just want to relax and keep to yourself during your service. read more

Worst nail experience I've ever had! I asked the lady if I could get white chrome and she said yes no problem... she painted them white and then started to do the chrome dusting and it looked horrendous and she clearly knew this as she started wiping it off, then she proceeded to try another nail and this one looked just as bad so she wiped it off again. Then the man working there (guessing he's the manager) came over and tried to do it himself and showed it to me and it looked horrible. It was silver chrome(not what I asked for) and it was all chunky. I told them to forget it and just leave them plain white since clearly they weren't going to do what I asked. I was very disappointed. The shape is crappy as well, I got coffin and some of them are wider than others.. not to mention my nails are lumpy. Not impressed that I wasted money on these. I will be going elsewhere tomorrow to get them fixed!! I will never go back to this place again!! read more

Went in for a pedicure and my feet came out looking the exact same, other than the new polish color. They were super busy and rushed and did NOT do a good job what so ever!! No scrubbing/cleaning of the bottom of my feet/heels at all. Could have done a better job at home by myself. Never going back. read more

My favourite nail salon to go to! The staff is super friendly and you can tell they really want to give you the best results possible. My nails always come back looking fabulous and they do free touch0-ups too! The salon itself is gorgeous and the most important thing is that it's CLEAN. I watch them sanitize their spa chairs and tools after each customer. I never have to worry about contamination. It's hard to find a salon that is so attentive about their clienteles safety. Only downside is the wait because the salon tends to be busy. read more

Horrible! I went to modern nails with several pictures of a leopard print gel set I wanted done. The women insisted it would not be a problem. I left the pictures out for her to follow but after several failed attempts, the language barrier didnt help, she was obviously getting frustrated. After 3 hours I was switched to a different employee. Mean while the previous lady started talking about me in mandarin! I am not one to make false accusations, but when someone is pointing at you, raising their voice, then storms to the back of the store...you get the point. At this point I was close to tears just from frustration. They quickly finished up my nails, clearly realizing they were now loosing money as I had been there for 3 and a half hours. I've been going to modern nails for some time now i usally just get a pedi done but now I'm getting my nails done and the service is getting worse. I had one person keep hitting my hand with a nail file to remind me to relax..Its hard to understand them and they don't listen to what the customer wants. Its a hit and miss service...my acrylic nails have bubbles and just look terrible. I will be looking for another nail salon. read more

This place was the worst nail place I have probably been to, and I have no idea how the awards for "best nail salon" signs they have placed around their shop. First of all when me and my friend first walked in for two sets, we had no problem waiting since we were walk in but they seated us and tried working on us right away. The problem is neither of the employees (the one doing my nails was actually the manager) talked to us or made us feel welcome at all, and also rushed our entire set. The man who was doing my nails was completely rough with my hands, instead do pushing the cuticles back and clipping he went over my actual cuticles and my actual fingers with the electric filer, causing me incredible pain, especially when I had 4 bleeding cuts on seperate fingers. Then when I explained I wanted pointy nails I was asked "why?" And that was the probably the only thing he said to me the whole time. He constantly kept passing me off to other employees to the point where I felt like I was unwelcome in the store. He also told me "pointy nails cost extra since they take more time." I have been getting my nails done for years and never have I been charged for pointy nails, I honestly believe he was just trying to trick me into more money. I had been going to Modern Nails for 7 years on/off, only because I felt a number of times they were getting SLOPPY and not giving the full services I was paying for. I don't like to complain but the one time I did recently about my French manicure with shellac coming off in 2 days on several nails, I was met with such lack of professionalism, hostility and demands that I come back to their store for them to take pictures of my hands after I had left and already arrived home, after having gone to their store about this 3 times to try and resolve this and calling 5 times. I finally was able to have an appointment where the husband and wife manager were side by side, the wife doing my re-do and the husband doing another lady's manicure, while they both kept saying that I am too hard on my nails and that the reason the shellac came off is because I broke a nail and then the husband says this is the last time he will do this for me as the reason the shellac came off is now also because my nails are too thin and that my nails needed to be not so long when I told them that my nails were all cut short they then kept changing their storey as to why this is my fault. The wife (co-manager) Lyn rushed through doing my nails and did not restore my French manicure that I paid for with a 20% tip, nor did she allow me to finish drying my left hand but said I can go now. And the husband when I said thank you he grunted. Now my left hand is dull because it did not dry properly. I normally do not complain as I try to see what part I played in what went wrong and the only thing I did wrong was not stand my ground firmer; hence this comment. I WILL NEVER GO BACK THERE NOR WILL I EVER RECOMEND THEM TO ANYONE!!! Plus they like to bully you into doing what they want you to do as opposed to what you want. And they hike up the costs that are not on their price list. I wish I could give this a minus 5 star rating, they don't deserve 1 star. I ask myself WHY did I keep coming back but this is the last time I can stomach going there!!!! read more

I had been here before for a pedicure and thought the results were fine so went back but when they took off the polish I noticed a white spot on my nail under the polish. They didn't mention it so I went ahead for another pedicure. I recently took off the polish myself this time and my gosh the white had spread it was all across the nails of both big toes. I have since then discovered it is a nail fungus and likely caused by a dirty nail file. YUCKKK! I will never return to this place to have my nails done. Dirty tools. They were so good with my toddler, it was her first mani and pedi and they were very patient with her. I always go to Modern Nails, as they have always done the best job of any nail salon I have gone to in Langley. The staff are always super friendly and it's always, since I started going to them last summer, been a pleasent experience. Unfortunatly, all it takes is one bad experience to ruin it, and this is extaclty what I had on on my last visit. When I walked in I saw that they were very busy and asked if they had time to do a fill. The owner John, told me to take a seat at one of the work stations and that he would do my nails. I sat waiting for over 20 mins. As I said, they were busy so at this point, though I was getting impatient, I was understanding (though if you are not going to be able to start doing someones nails right away, maybe don't have them sit at a workstation as if you are). Finally, when John sat down, he was not only rushed, but also constantly up and down while doing my nails. What should have been no more than 45 minutes took over an hour and half, and they look terrrible! Not only is the white tip on the majority of the nails done sloppily, but 3 days later and they are already chipping! When I was leaving, he couldn't understand why I was upset and though I tried to explain, he was quite rude and unapologetic. Suffice it to say, I have mentioned this experience to everyone I know and then some. I don't believe that as the owner, if your that busy, you should be working on peoples nails when you have a million other things to take care of! All this left me with was having to go and pay again at a different salon to have my nails fixed! I will never use this salon again, and will forever caution anyone else from using them. read more
