I was referred to Modern Nail Lounge by my friend Bethany, who told me I had to check them out and specifically recommended Trina. I finally went today after realizing the nail place I tried in Agoura Hills was inconsistent. The first visit there was fine, the second was awful and completely destroyed my natural nails, so I was back on the hunt for a new salon. I originally wanted to book with Trina, but she was fully booked and her next availability was later in the afternoon, which I couldn't make work. Instead, Daisy did my nails and I'm honestly blown away. These are the most beautiful nails I've ever had. I got Gel-X in a holiday red sparkle, and I went longer than I normally do, and WOW. They are gorgeous. I cannot stop looking at them or talking with my hands because she did such an incredible job. I actually had them remove the previous set completely because my natural nails were broken down really low and in bad shape, and Daisy handled everything with care and precision. My nails feel strong, look flawless, and the shape is perfect. I also got a pedicure while I was there. I don't remember the name of the technician who did it, but she did a fantastic job as well. From start to finish, the experience was excellent. I really appreciated how accommodating they were and how quickly they were able to get me in today. I've been living in the Thousand Oaks area for almost two years and have struggled to find a nail salon to replace the one I loved back in Santa Clarita. I honestly think I've finally found it. It was also really sweet to see how loved Trina is. Clients were so excited to see her back from maternity leave, and it was very clear she's a favorite there. I definitely plan to book with her next time, but if she's not available, I will absolutely go back to Daisy without hesitation. Highly recommend Modern Nail Lounge. Definitely not a $70 pedicure (it wasn't even gel). I got a deluxe package so I could get a couple extra minutes for the foot massage. It was NOT worth it. My friend and I had some time to kill so we stopped in for a pedicure. The girl doing my friend's pedicure did a great job. Mine....not so much. - Every toe had a different shape to it -The tips were not symmetrical - My toes were all cut up and throbbing (see pic) - When it was time to leave, my gal was nowhere to be seen. I have not had good luck with technicians here. The deal breaker for me is the owner of the Salon. She is quite a rude diva who has no comprehension that she's in a service business. She has a reputation in our community now and people are leaving. Taking their business elsewhere. The place may look pretty and clean, but it comes with a price. I would give this place zero stars if that were an option. I've given this salon three chances, and each visit confirmed the same issue: consistently poor service, unprofessional behavior, and a complete lack of respect for clients. It's 2026--clients are paying $100+ per service. This level of treatment is not only unacceptable, it's completely unnecessary. I've been getting my nails done for over 20 years, so I understand what good service looks like. I chose this salon simply because it's closer to my home, and I genuinely wanted it to work. It didn't. My first visit with Lili was cold and unwelcoming--no eye contact, no smile, and I was made to feel uncomfortable for simply explaining the look I wanted as a new client. On my second visit, I tried the owner, Andrew. While polite, the service was rushed and one nail broke shortly after. More concerning was the environment--Lili avoided doing my pedicure, sitting on her phone instead of working. It felt unprofessional and dismissive. How can owners let staff act like that. I gave it one final chance with Tiffany today , who came recommended by my dear friend. . Instead of honoring the appointment, she immediately tried to pass me off to someone else.. When I said I specifically booked her, she laughed and said, "You go see Andrew... you very picky." That response alone says everything about how clients are treated here. I came twice before. I don't have anyone particular I see i wanted to try different people to find best match. This isn't a one-time issue--it's a pattern. Clients are dismissed, passed around, and made to feel like a problem rather than valued. There are far better salons that respect their clients and deliver consistent service, including VIP Nails, Benz Nails, and Top Nails. If you have any self respect and want your money to go to people who value your business. I say skip this place. I will be sharing this with all the moms in the neighborhood. read more

I went here for the first time 5ish weeks ago. Got an amazing biogel manicure - the best I've ever had, it was meticulous. It lasted 3.5 weeks and still looked pretty good (I had a super neutral color so grow out wasn't super obvious). I booked another appointment for right before I left for vacation. I asked for a biogel manicure - and it was not good. I think the problem is they gave me a fill - but I didn't want a fill! I asked for a biogel manicure. No manicure place has ever given me a biogel fill before - I want a full fresh manicure. I didn't even realize they were doing a fill bc they didn't say anything to me or ask what I wanted. I booked with the same girl but a different one did my removal. By the time the regular girl came over, she just did one layer of biogel over the previous removal and it was too late for me to ask for a full removal. I didn't like the look of the nails, they weren't as clean. And it was super obvious bc I get such a sheer color and only one coat - you could see the lines of the fill beneath it. I still thought: okay as long as it holds up for my 17 day vacation, it's fine. I am less than a week in and a nail has chipped and broken TWICE. Which has never happened before, from ANY BIOGEL MANICURE. I'm just so disappointed. I have a shitty manicure for my vacation. My natural nail is broken. I have been going here for 1 year, if you want natural looking nails that fit your specifi nails (not oriental style, long and pointed) DONT go here, they charge alot for nails and if they LIFT like mine two times I paid for fills OnTime and they lifted and. Owner Tiffany has gotten rude over the time I've been going there. She's great on gel manicures just don't expect any niceties. Sometimes their kids and/or nephew run the front desk and that's an absolute joke. Mimi does a great job but speaks no English. Ambiance is very nice. Came to get a mani & pedi, asked for french tip on my toes, lady did them really straight & thick, asked her politely to make them thinner, she got physically upset & i asked to to get someone else to do them PLEASE! and they both rolled their eyes said thank you and ignored me, the manager had upset cause she had to come and help fix my nails & on top of it was very rude grabbed my hands then flicked my hands off of her rudely telling me to wash my & just kept sighing. i paid $45 for a manicure that my 12 year old probably could've done better. It's so hard to find a good nail place, but I found a great one in Newbury Park. I tried out so many when I first moved to Ventura County, but this one by far is the best. I never usually get my nails done and I think they could tell. They definitely take advantage of that. I got a manicure, and the lady did not trim my nails, clean the dirt under them (I work on a ranch) or fix my cuticles or any of the normal things. Not only did she refuse to go any shorter than I wanted for my nails, they suggested I do bio chrome. I didn't know what that meant, but after everything was finished, I was really looking forward to getting some lotion on my hands and receiving a massage like they do. Again, I work really hard with my hands so that was part of the reason I wanted a nice manicure. After she was done painting it, she cleaned up everything and said she was done. I asked if there was any lotion or massage and she said no because bio chrome is considered a fill not a full manicure. Even though I had absolutely nothing on my nails before to consider it a fill. It was just the Product difference? So if they recommend bio gel it's because they probably don't want to give you a massage lol - after all that it was $72. The manicure was fine, but the last 2 times we've come in for a scheduled appointment, they have either made us wait for an extended amount of time or have completely forgotten about us. Just be careful when making appointments. I think they say they can do it at a time that's close to what you want but make you wait regardless. Also, they make you pay the 2% fee for using a credit card even when the amount is well over $50. Doesn't seem right, regardless of how low the % is. read more

Andrew, the owner of this salon, did a beautiful job with my dip powder nails. From the start, he was very meticulous and attentive to detail. Andrew asked me what my specific preferences were for my nails (ie. shape, thickness) and when I told him I like when my nails feel durable, he advised that we go a little thicker. My nails feel very durable. I've had other dip powder nails that feel like they could bend if I applied too much pressure. Andrew does not rush. He's very accommodating and professional. I would also like to mention that I had an appointment at 5:30 pm and he had me seated at 5:27. He and the other nail techs seem to work very well together, and they all seem truly seem to want to accommodate walk-ins and those late to their appointment. I will definitely return to this salon. I would steer as clear as you can from this place. I really wanted to like them especially since they seem like a family business but I just CAN'T. Every visit gets worse, the customer service is mediocre/ terrible. I don't leave reviews but here I am because this last visit was so bad I won't be coming here ever again!!! I came in for a gel manicure originally, once the nail technician started working on my nails (and making my cuticles blead!!) I asked if they do "Gel-x" she said "yes we do", I said " how much would it be?" she said $55. I said "ok." This is where it gets way down hill: - I requested oval shaped nails-she did square - rushed prep- she drilled on my nail very painfully instead of soaking my nails - no lotion/ hand massage at the end - She made pretty much EVERY SINGLE cuticle bleed - She was so rough on my nails - At the end when it came time to pay, the lady who seems to be the co owner tells me it's $60. When I questioned, she said " the nail tech had to cut your cuticles" WTF??? she charged me extra to bleed. After doing some research cutting the cuticles is not part of local health law. On top of that she has her 8 year old daughter cashing the register and cleaning, doing child labor and when her daughter hands me my change she says " she gave you extra money and I need that money back" Just worst experience ever with this place and this definitely makes me never want to return or refer anyone!!! I had high hopes for this salon. Just got here, on time, and they did not start on my nails for 15 minutes I told them I had to be done in an hour. Then they handed me a menu for nails and for pedicure, all I wanted was a plain mani and pedi, $50 for both. Be careful and ask for only what you want or else be prepared to pay more. I asked for simple flower on my toes and it was not what I asked for so I did not get any. Not so good at getting polish off sides. If I could give zero stars I would. My two best friends tried this place out two weeks ago and raved about it. I went with one of them and when I walked in the place is super cute/modern. The lady in the front seemed annoyed we didn't have appointments. When we sat down the lady that did my toes seemed like she was in a rush or didn't wanna be there. She painted my toes the wrong color. I had given her a pink bottle and she painted them blue. I never received a massage or the lotion that comes with the spa pedicure. She even cut my toe, which hurts really bad. Once she added the top coat she put my sandals on my feet and told me to get off the seat. They weren't even that busy. However, when my friend was done they let her sit in the chair and relax. I waited to get a bio gel manicure. The guy that did it seemed annoyed. Kept sighing every few minutes. He added so many coats of the bio gel. Never bothered to clean up my cuticles. He was upset when I asked if he could file my nails shorter. Once they were done he just slapped cuticle oil and said done. No hand massage or lotion. I paid and left. I walked to my car and inspected my nails. They're all different levels because of the way he buffed them down and all the coats he used. Under my nails theirs still dirt since he never bother to clean them. So many cuticles/hangnails and sides of my nails are connected to my skin. I went and bought a cuticle nipper at CVS, cried all the way home and sat on my couch cutting my cuticles. I feel horrible. You pay a lot of money for a service and my nails looked worse then when I walked in. I will say everyone that was there was white. Not sure if it was a race thing or not, but I felt very insignificant. read more

A pedicure is supposed to be relaxing, but they finish within half an hour! They set a timer for the massage. It's seems like they want you in and out of the chair as quickly as possible and just want to get their money. Then they make you feel bad about your tipping. I came here for a mani/pedi and had an amazing experience, but I'm not sure I'll be back unless I want a specific nail design. This shop has it all and my styler was incredibly skilled. Probably the most beautiful my nails have ever looked! However, only my toes were cleaned. For the amount paid to get your nails done, I would expect my fingernails to be cleaned as well (and for me, that's half the reason to get a mani/pedi). So my nails looked beautiful, but were outlined with hangnails and the like which deminishes the overall effect. Hence why I will probably only be back for a very formal event for the artistry and stick to elsewhere for everything else. read more
