When I first brought my car in for an oil leak, I was told it was only the oil pan gasket. So I had that replaced, but the leak continued and even got a little worse. I brought it back in, and at that point I was given a long list of additional items that needed to be replaced. I ended up paying $2,020.46 for the engine oil pan gasket, passenger-side valve cover gasket, and driver-side valve cover. Even after all that work, the car still leaked, and I was then told I also needed to replace the rear main seal ($941.52) and cam plug seal ($396.27). On top of that, there was an oil stain left on my seat. I had to bring the car back again to have it shampooed, and afterward my vehicle had an "old gym sock" smell that lingered. Unfortunately not a great experience. I would NOT recommend this place. read more

My Tesla had a bad auxiliary battery. They said they could fix it. $800 and a week later, they said they could not fix it. I had it towed to KC and Tesla fixed it under warranty for nothing. When I questioned them as to why, Will in service advised me that they are not authorized to fix anything under warranty. When I questioned him about why I had to pay $796.74 when they accomplished nothing, he replied that they had diagnosed the problem and spent time on it. PURE BS. DON'T TRUST THEM. read more

My family has purchased three vehicles from Modern Motor Cars, with our most recent being a Tesla. Initially, I had a slow leak in the back tire from a nail, which they replaced with a new tire. ( not saying anything about the fact that it was put in the wrong place or that it was in the wrong place previously) Fast-forward six months--I hit a curb and needed my wheel inspected for road rash repair. I called ahead and scheduled an appointment. When I arrived, it was immediately clear they had no idea which vehicle I was bringing in. After waiting 30 minutes, I was told my car needed a new tire and an alignment. Confused, I asked why the tires were even inspected or the vehicle was raised. The service advisor replied, "Aren't you here because your car is making a vibrating noise?" That was not the case--I was simply there to have the wheel looked at for replacement or repair. It only got worse. I was then told I wasn't even at the correct location to have the wheel repair done. Despite the confusion, they rotated my tires without my approval and admitted afterward that the rear tires should have been placed on the front during a previous visit--and that the error was on their part. Yet, they handed me a bill for nearly $800 to replace the worn tire, caused by their incorrect rotation, and claimed it wasn't their responsibility. The vehicle "wasn't properly inspected" when I purchased it less than a year and a half ago. I'm incredibly disappointed by the lack of professionalism and what they call a "luxury service" experience. The miscommunication, lack of coordination, and poor handling of the situation were unacceptable. Since sharing my experience, several other Tesla owners in my area have reached out with similar issues. While Modern Motor Cars claims to be a Tesla-authorized service provider, my experience says otherwise--they are clearly not up to standard. I want to also add that you can get the same exact service through Tesla for $477 vs they're almost $800. read more

Did everything remotely and spent 15 minutes at the actual dealership after flying in from California to pick up my Cayenne. I purchased my vehicle from Modern Motorcars and was ecstatic to learn that I now had a place to take my cars into for service. I have had nothing but great service until very recently. Beware of taking your car in for service, they will lie to you, tell you your car is ready and somehow forget to tell you there are now other problems that now need to be fixed for an additional $3500 on top of the $6500 already paid for service. Took the car to another mechanic who said the system Modern Motorcars installed was incompatible. Took the car back and was told it would still cost another $3500. Even left the owner a message and sent him an email detailing my dissatisfaction and gave him the opportunity to earn my business back and make this situation right. Guess what? It took them 1 1/2 months to get the parts from Tesla and repair my car. They were always friendly and great to work with. Their body shop did an awesome job on my car. The moment I stepped inside I was treated like a lost child who was looking to play with shiny objects I can't afford, despite being a legal adult like their other customers within the showroom. In other words, I was not treated like a potential customer. Yet I still managed to treat them with more respect than they did me by showing up over 10 minutes early to confirm a test drive booking they never got back to me on, in order to not waste their time, yet at no point had the decency to let me know that they booked me for a car that isn't test drivable and that their minimum age to allow it is 21. Fine, I understand insurance needs that minimum, but an hour of my time wasted due to their inability to be organized and simply put a disclaimer somewhere stating their needs before a test drive can happen is just unprofessional. They did not even entertain the idea that I was interested in buying the car, shutting it down to repeat on about their minimum age to test drive and needing more info to even allow one (making me wonder if it was an excuse to get me to leave, but I will not claim either way). I could have been looking to buy with "Mommy & Daddy's" money, or my own, yet at no point did they try to even talk about the car past the age minimum. They just walked away. If they cannot treat me well before having my money in their hands, I am not interested in giving it to them or going through the buying process while continuing to receive that treatment from them. Overall, Modern Motorcars isn't somewhere I'll buy from in the future, and will strongly advise friends to avoid. Go somewhere else where you'll be given more respect before they have your money. read more

What a stand up group of people. I don't normally buy used cars especially specialty cars from non manufactures but they exceeded my expectations in every possible way. Quick to answer any question via phone or email. Offered transportation, offered pick up from airport. Showed 5 minutes early. Paperwork was ready. Called me multiple times on the way home to make sure my 12 hour drive was going well. All paperwork transactions were handled super fast from title to delivery to me. Went in today to go look at a wonderful car that was being sold, we met Chris today who is ABSOLUTELY fantastic! He gave us a lot of information about the car's history and even pulled up a carfax to discuss our concerns. As we took the car for a test drive, I fell in love with the car! Chris handed us over to accounting and we were picked up by their accountant Carole. Now, this is the reason to WHY I am only giving 4 stars to this business. In the beginning, she was pretty nice to us, obviously because we were customers, but then her attitude then changed when she found out that I had "bad credit" which is pretty common among most people when they go out and try to finance a car, she called us back into her office and proceeded to ask immediately if I had a co-signer. Which I replied no. She then tells me that I cannot finance a car if I don't get a co-signer. Even if I was to put 50% down. She then goes to read off my credit history, which I was NOT okay, as my friend was sitting there hearing this sensitive information about me. I was beyond embarrassed. I had NEVER EVER had that happened to me at any other dealership. No discretion AT ALL. As my friend was trying to give me options to see if I could go to a credit union or my bank to see if I could try to get a small loan for the car, she cuts them off mid-sentence and says "they won't approve her" in a annoyed tone. Pretty much I felt like I was treated like trash the moment she found out that she couldn't make a buck today. Overall, Don and Chris AMAZING, 8/10 would buy a car from them. Carole? The manager and finance team do not explain the buying process after agreeing to a price. Instead they will take your personal information and then move to sell the vehicle to someone else. My experience with Modern Motorcars was just horrible. After identifying a vehicle at a fair price, I provided them with sensitive information -- my credit card -- to secure the transaction and to prevent anyone else from purchasing the vehicle. This was the expectation their Sales Rep, Cameron, set when he took down my credit card info. I had always been in constant contact with Cameron and expressed that I needed a day to look over the terms of their loan (from Wells Fargo) and extended service plan options (from Zurich) as I had a busy couple of days at work ahead of me. Cameron acknowledged my request and was fine with it. I will admit.. Cameron was responsive. HOWEVER, the following day that Friday morning when I was at a point to review all paperwork and finalize the transaction, Cameron took the day off. Modern Motorcars' business ethics went out the window. Here's what transpired: Friday AM, the deal was moving forward. I was sent some revised warranty extension information to review from Matt. I called Matt an hour later to review everything. No answer. Emailed him. No reply. Continued to follow up throughout the day. Crickets. At 5:30pm (CST), just before they were going to close up shop, I receive a text [not even a phone call] from Matt indicating "Rich, I am sorry, but the Volvo is no longer available. I am sorry. Our owner sought multiple times to confirm the our deal was finalized, but we were still going back and forth about the terms. I apologize". WHAT?!? First, I was never contacted by the 'Owner'. Second, you guys took down my credit card info to secure the car. Third, I was never sent any paperwork relative to a purchase contract, loan paperwork or anything of the sort to finalize the transaction. Lastly, I was never even contacted as the first one in line that placed a security deposit on the car and to have the first right of refusal. I received no communication expressing to me that they had another interested party and that if I wasn't going to pull the trigger, then they would go with this other party. I received nothing but crickets. I get on the line with Matt immediately after receiving the text to express my thoughts. Matt didn't seem to know what was going on. He was under the impression that the owner gave it an earnest attempt to get a hold of me. He made no attempt. I explained I needed to get on the line with this 'owner'. When I was on the line with the 'General Manager', Russ I believe his name was (older gentlemen), he continued to defend his company's position. No empathy, extremely defensive tone. Made the same claim that they attempted to finalize the deal with me even though I kept in constant communication with the original Sales Rep. Cameron just the evening before. Again, the only paperwork I received was a summary of extended service plans. What prevented them from sending me a purchase contract or scheduling a call to review the purchase contract if they really gave it an honest attempt to get a hold of me? The 'General Manager' then indicated they did not run my credit card afterall. What?? Why would you take down my sensitive personal information only to not run it. This was their out. Left the conversation with the 'General Manager' utterly confused and agitated. There was no sense of empathy, compassion or an inkling of the Customer is always right from his Team. The car was already sold and there was nothing he was willing to work towards to make me feel whole as a Customer. He drew his line in the sand, folded his arms and essentially told me to pound sand. NOT a way to treat a prospective Customer. NOT a way to run a business. NOT a way to execute on good business ethics and operational procedures. At the end of the day, this transaction was a fraud. They took down my credit card info without intending to do anything with it. It was a scam that has grounds for litigation. Please be warned! read more

Good looking cars, but you're better off buying a newer car with lower miles and less potential problems. This is my third time buying a car from a used dealership, with the same result and as soon as I got out of the dealership after purchasing the car of course the check engine light came on, whether they knew that and they shut it off or it literally became a problem as soon as I bought it only God knows, but if you are buying a higher mileage car go through it thoroughly and take a long test drive. Also with used cars and higher mileage be careful purchasing extended warranty because when I called the shop about the light they were already trying to say that the check engine light might be on because I didn't put the right gas or some thing trying to potential he make it seem like I caused an issue when in reality I just purchased the car but I didn't get extended warranty from previous experience they can just say I caused it somehow which doesn't cover by warranty overall at work experience super nice people. read more
