Eichen's Lighting in San Bruno is a nice little family owned and operated shop on El Camino Real. They have a fairly large collection on display. In particular you'll be pleased with their showroom display of crystal chandeliers, Tiffany-style lamps and other portables (desk & table lamps). While this may not be the place to go to if your taste leans toward an ultra modern aesthetic, it is a place where you can find something in the Transitional or Traditional vein without breaking the bank. read more

They had a large display of lights and fixtures in the store and lighting catalogs to help identify the fixture. The selection is significantly better than at the big orange big box home store. My hubs and I bought some really great lamps a couple of years ago and one proceeded to die after just over a year. It had been sitting decoratively in our living room while its twin did all the illumination in our home. My hubs had a lovely lamp that had traveled with him from city to city and country to country since he was a lad that was in need of some updating. But we had no idea where to take our lamps. The hubs had to be in the San Bruno area yesterday morning and decided to take our lamps to Eichen's because he had heard great things about them. So he dropped them off and the gentleman who helped him said they would be fixed by Saturday. I took the call late yesterday afternoon that they were both done. The hubs swung by this morning to get them and the same gentleman helped the hubs get them into the car. They work terrific. But we now have to get a new lamp shade for my hubs' lamp because they (upon our request) reworked the lamp for a modern lamp shade. Eichen's is prompt, efficient and polite. What more can you want? lots of parking right in front. I've never been so crazy to find parking in front and this place is awesome. my mother needed a new shade...so we went everywhere. I was going crazy she wasn't finding the price she liked or the kind of shade she wanted. I finally said, I know a place that i pass by all the time and we should go look. she was skeptical but we went anyway...she just doesn't think i've been around enough i guess..lol. we went in...lamps and lights EVERYWHERE! I mean everywhere and they even have a 2nd floor...well, kind of a mid floor. my mom found her shade, it was tough to pick out but she found it and she loves it. I called and spoke with Susan and she was very helpful and kind! I was just calling around to see if there was anybody in the area that did custom lamp bases. They do not, but Susan said she knows somebody and she gave me a contact, said she'd email me with more info and took my name and phone # in case she could help more! I couldn't believe how much she seemed to care when it wasn't even something they could do for me! They are repairing my vintage lamp for a very reasonable price, and I found the perfect shade for it. I was so pleased that it got me thinking about how hot my bedroom gets, and I wondered if they have a contemporary ceiling fan/light? Of course they do! -- with a lifetime warranty on the motor AND at a fair price. This place is worth the drive no matter where you are. My husband and I stopped by Eichen's last week just to look at what they have to offer since I heard they recently have a new owner. We were looking for 2 interior chandeliers, 2 pendents over our kitchen counter, an exterior light outside our main entrance and a few light bulbs. To my surprise, they have a HUGE selection! I meant HUGE! From classic Victorian to modern Restoration hardware style, Kate Spade, Tiffany style...you name it! Gilbert (the new owner) is a pleasure to work with, we did not purchase anything yet, since we need to decide what works well in our house, but they printed out a bunch of designs and measurements for us. Excellent customer service and they have a great display to choose from. My mom is 90 and is loosing her eyesight. She purchased a lamp from LampsPlus with a friend and the lamp broke within 6 months---and it was expensive! More than $500. We went to Eichen's Lightening and bought her a fabulous light that illuminates her living space. She was a designer in her youth and she loves the modern lines. My wife and I were looking for a light for our bedroom and wandered in here on a Saturday afternoon near closing time. The owner was really friendly and helpful, directing us to the right section, telling us about the advantages of different lights, and helping us pick something we liked without being at all pushy. His excitement about our project was infectious, and I left much happier and more interested in lighting than I thought possible when I walked in 30 minutes earlier. I just went to this place to see if they can fix my crystal ceiling light. From the outside it looked small but once I went inside I was surprised at their huge selections of really nice lights. Their store extend to upper floor as well, so don't be fool by the outside. We popped into Eichen's after months looking online and at various chains for new pendant and dining room lighting for a remodel. They had enough of a selection on the floor to guide us, and then busted out a few Big Books to get *exactly* what I could see in my mind. Juan was very helpful, and our lighting is being dropshipped right to our home in Colorado (for a modest fee, of course). They aren't the cheapest, but well worth the extra cost. read more

We are doing a major remodel, live in San Francisco and ave visited a few lighting stores in San Francisco, done some business with these other stores even, but Eichen's is our favorite place. Their showroom is not as extensive as some in the city but adequate and nicer than a place like B&K in the city. Most importantly, they have great customer service and great insights. Susan has helped us to find a number of lights (chandelier, sconces, bathroom lights, and so forth), and has been able to provider even better recommendations than our designer. Their prices are extremely competitive, exactly on par with the cheapest prices one can find on-line (and they provide much better service than one can get on-line, to be sure). Fantastic place. Had a light fixture that needed repairing. All six sockets were bad and at least one shorted out, due to wires being connected wrong. Anyway, Matt repaired it within 24 hours and got me on my way. Clean job, no nicks or damage to the finish of the fixture. Wires inserted clean and tied up nice and tight. Could have installed more expensive sockets (my original request) but Matt said he could use standard sockets and save myself some money (appreciate that). BF and I bought majority of lights from here...our chandelier, entryway lights, and bathroom lights. Overall we like the selection they have. It fits our style of modern and simple (they have many other styles available on display). The owners are extremely nice and very accommodating. They were kind enough to replace one of the crystal design in our chandelier because we did not like it and give us replacement light bulbs for free. They also said they price match to Amazon. The knob to turn on my mother's table lamp broke off. I did a search to see if Eichen's was still in business because I remembered it from 35 years ago when I lived in SSF. I was happy to see it's still in San Bruno! I called and was even happier to hear that they do repairs. I took it in today and the knowledgeable repair person kept trying different size knobs until he found one that fit properly. I figured I'd have to leave the lamp and have a whole new section with the switch put on, but he quickly frxed it and didn't charge me for his efforts. This is pretty much unheard of. I'd been using this store for years for lamp repairs and was initially concerned when new owners took over several months ago. However, the management and employees of Eichen's remain committed to great customer service and the store now carries updated, quality lighting products in a remodeled showroom. I wanted sconces that would add character to a room and found a pair that will both add the "look" I wanted and provide some much needed light. The store's inventory is more upscale and unique than other lighting stores here on the mid-peninsula. Prices are not inexpensive but they are competitive.
