Hilarious! 8 days later after I posted my review on August 8, 2021, they changed their website to not include the picture of Billie on top of the oak table and also ANY reviews from the public. Glad they can't change YELP. I guess she got the message. I will look the picture in my paperwork from our poorly handled case that cost us thousands and I will post it here. I'm not lying people. I also notice that the attorney they "gave" me isn't in the employee pictures anymore. A little late after they totally botched our case and did nothing to straighten out the mess that she made. I still tell everyone I come in contact with about this firm and how bad they handled our case. Still paying for their mistake a year later and most likely a few more because like I said, it cost thousands for their mistake which they don't take responsibility for. We have been in contact with the opposing counsel and his client who we took to court and they were laughing all the way to the bank after we logged off the hearing. They went in knowing they would lose but to their surprise our inept attorney lost the case for us that we clearly should have won. There is an Arizona Law that protected us but she actually managed to make us lose. Pretty sad and they had no problem collecting our money. read more

Rather than a critique, I'll provide advice. Stay prepared for meetings/phone calls so they don't linger. Request approval for all billable transactions to prevent unnecessary charges and overbilling. Address billing practices that offend you right away. It's far more difficult if the lead attorney leaves the firm prior to getting stuck with an excessive bill. Attorneys SHOULD NOT withdraw from your case until 30 days after the judge makes a ruling in case of appeal. Hopefully, this advice will be useful, share it with the people you care about. read more

If I could give Modern Law zero stars, I would. My close friend is dealing with them in her custody case and it's been a total disaster. They don't return calls, they miss important deadlines that have cost her thousands of dollars, and her lawyer was extremely inexperienced. The amount of stress and heartache they have caused her is unconscionable, and I am hoping she files a malpractice lawsuit and reports them to the bar. Don't believe all the fake positive reviews here. They're baloney. read more

5+ Where do I even begin; Modern Law and I Do Over are absolutely amazing!!! Obviously going through a divorce is awful; its scary, sad, emotionally draining.. and did I mention scary! But from my first phone call to schedule a consult to the warm greeting I got from Caitlin at the front desk when I arrived for my initial consultation with Billie. Everyone has been so wonderful! Billie took her time answering all of questions and really listened to my concerns. After discussing my situation, Billie suggested I get in touch with I Do Over (sister co. to ML), which I did. I reached out to Modern Law to navigate my divorce after meeting with a couple of other attorneys/law offices that were not a good fit. My situation was a little different- the divorce was amicable and I just needed assistance in filing the paperwork and guidance on what pieces of assets and debts needed to be discussed (like how is child support calculated? alimony? what assets are we even entitled to split? etc). It seemed like every other place I contacted wanted me to retain and turn this divorce into a huge battle which is not what we wanted. CAUTION!!!!!!!! Modern Law will make it sound like they are out for your best interest.... but beware. The owner Billy is more interested in stacking billable hours by way of debating intentionally with opposing council and meeting with her own team of lawyers to try and figure out how to charge you more. She and her firm charged me over $49K in a span of 5 months and my case was still nowhere. They talk a great game plan but clearly can't execute anything. Judge never sided on my side due to her way of representing me. I had to fire her and hire another attorney that I paid a retainer on and she has had more progress then Modern Law/ Billie and her entire firm has in to months. I'm writing this review because I don't want anyone else the get taken and screw over. Very sad when to owner of the firm is the one that was representing me. Ironically, I had read about Modern Law prior to the others and my gut screamed "this is the right firm" but I listened to recommendations from others. Big mistake. The divorce process is nasty and dirty no matter how nice you want to be and the staff at Modern Law were communicative and patient. They kept me informed and explained the process. The first firm treated me like I was an inconvenience and the second firm simply didn't do anything for me! Go with Modern Law first and you won't have to shop around and waste money like I did. I am a single dad, involved in a case where mother does not want to even try to co-parent for the sake of our daughter. I spoke with one of Billies' co-workes, and set up a phone appointment. She gave me time to explain my case. We set up an appointment for an hour consolation. Her and I spoke, and after about 30-45 minutes, Billie gave me the bottom line on cost. I informed her that I could not afford the $3000.00 retainer, and read online that she would make reasonable payment arrangements, that I could afford. After listening to me for about an hour and a half, she gave me the bottom line of costs. As soon as she heard I was interested in retaining her services based on her reviews online, but could not afford $3000.00 at the drop of a hat, she was suddenly not interested in speaking with me at all. Nt even to discuss what she could do for the initial filling fee of $500, which I was considering. Not only was she not interested in telling me what she would do for the $500.00, she almost seemed as if I had just wasted her time, and didn't even want my $500.00 She emailed me a link to give her money, while we still on the phone. I immediately responded to her email, asking what she would include for the $500.00, and she didn't even answer me. Save your money, she is too busy to waste her time with you unless you have several thousands of dollars that you are willing to give her on the initial conversation, without knowing what she is willing to do for you. I feel so strongly that this is an accurate statement, I will gladly give you my personal email, just to answer any more questions. Modern Law is a complete rip off. Everything that was discussed in the consultation by Modern Law was everything that they will not professionally provide to you as client. One personal example: They promised, as my attorney, that whatever part of the funds of the retainer I paid them was not used, or left over rather, would be refunded back to me is still currently slowly being drained to nothing with no indications of their using. I terminiated their representation in a timely and communicative manner, and received the complete unprofessional opposite by Modern Law. Oh, and just one more pointer, just when you think you know who your attorney is, think again, they are nortious for rotating attorneys w/ no knowledge or explanationas to why. You will get emailed and w/ no phone calls, and/ or documents that they have changed your attorney that will, I guess, be representing your case in which they have no idea of what the case involves or has evolved into. They will unfairly represnt you or your case in a legal unprofesionalism. If you want any of these legal services for your particular situation, please feel free to have your case dismissed or falsely represented in a manner of embarrassment. read more

But when you're lucky enough to find the right team with the knowledge and resources that meet your needs, your situation can become entirely manageable. They had just opened office and I needed help on a probate matter. Their attorney didn't seem to know much about probate and wrote a few letters for me. I later found out that my problem was something very simple i could have done myself-(which I did do with a state office) and was free. Later tried to contact this same attorney and she acted like she didn't even know who I was! I was ripped off. read more
