My case was primarily handled by another attorney (Jessica Hernandez) after intake/consultation/interview with (David Maletta). I experienced repeated delays and unreturned calls and emails. There were also many instances where the legal strategy discussed and agreed upon during meetings and documented in follow up emails were simply not followed. I raised these concerns several times with firm leadership in writing and during calls. While I was repeatedly told the issues would be addressed, I did not see changes in communication, responsiveness, or case handling. The overall experience became extremely stressful ans frustrating, especially considering the amount of money paid versus the level of attention and follow-through I expected. They then asked for more money. Ultimately, I made the decision to hire different counsel. After changing firms, my matter was resolved within a few months, for less money and in a way that aligned exactly with the strategy I believed should have been pursued from the beginning. Every legal matter is different, but based on my personal experience, I would strongly encourage potential clients to carefully evaluate fee structures, communication expectations, and who will actually be handling their case day-to-day before retaining this firm. I would never recommend this firm to anyone for any issue large or small. An attorney I would highly recommend is Chris Doran, Esq. (he/him) Doran Justice, PLLC 3550 N. From the first consultation with Stuart and his team, I felt at ease and they helped me with the mess that my previous lawyer had left in my lap. I had some special circumstances regarding my divorce, but Stuart stepped up and made everything very easy to handle. He and his team were very communicative, worked hard to get my case settled, and ultimately were great sources of peace during a rough period of my life. Despite having moved out of state after I separated, Stuart made sure everything was taken care of and that I was made aware of court dates well ahead of time, also ensuring they'd be online so I wouldn't need to fly back. I highly recommend this team, as they made an already stressful situation that much easier to handle thanks to their professionalism.

Instead, I found myself navigating critical safety concerns largely on my own. When I asked for assistance with filing an Order of Protection, I was told that "wasn't what I hired him for." That moment revealed something I did not expect to discover in a lawyer: an unwavering belief in the limits of his role, even when a child's safety was central to the case. Throughout my engagement, important evidence I provided was not presented, court preparation was minimal, and communication about procedures was unclear. I repeatedly found myself unsure of what had been filed, what had been argued, or what to expect in hearings that determined my child's day-to-day reality. What made this even more disorienting was the tone of some of the commentary I received. Rather than focusing on legal strategy or documented concerns, discussions veered into personal territory -- including remarks about hormones and "rabbit holes" -- which felt dismissive during an already stressful time. Financially, I was billed for work that did not translate into courtroom action, clarity, or preparation. The imbalance between cost and tangible representation left me asking a question no parent should have to ask while paying for counsel: "Am I actually being represented?" I'm sharing this so other parents understand what I wish I had known: a lawyer can be physically present and yet functionally absent. Family court is not theoretical. It involves children, safety, and irreversible outcomes. Clients deserve a legal advocate who sees the gravity of that -- not someone who treats concerns as detours. I cannot recommend this firm based on my experience.

I do not do family mediation myself, but I do receive regular requests, and the Aurit Center is where I send all those folks. Karen and Michael have the skills, the heart, the strategy, the compassion, and the experience for this very sensitive niche of dispute resolution. In addition to their professional prowess, they are just the sort of people you want to hang around. If they are accepting cases, you would be lucky to hire them. I am lucky to call them colleagues! Such a quality is hard-sought after in our legal representatives. And the breadth and depth of their legal knowledge and experience sets a high bar for mediators. I have only ever needed mediation once, and unfortunately I hadn't yet met this team, who in my opinion, sets the highest quality for divorce mediation. They are a kind and thoughtful team of caring individuals, who carefully guide you though the divorce process, with the goal of striking balance for all involved. I wish others could learn this kind of thoughtful conflict resolution.
