A horrible experience the you should avoid...read on! We went in to see Becky to make a minor change to the Trust that she revised and updated in 2012 at a very reasonable price. Things have changed. We assumed she would have an electronic copy of our Trust ready for our scheduled meeting; we were wrong. We spent the first 15 minutes waiting for her to find her file of our Trust. She printed 3 pages of it. We then spent 10 minutes listening why ours was now beyond revision and was useless, so we needed to throw away the one she amended and start from scratch. Her minimum price now was $3,500. I had expected a smaller charge for a small revision of a 6-year old trust and declined. She then told us the charge for the day would be $350, called her assistant to escort us out, stood up, thanked us and walked out. We were left sitting in the room by ourselves. Wham-Bam-Thank-You-Mam. Becky's speedy disappearance after we said no was worthy of David Copperfield, thus the ONE STAR. Otherwise, a ZERO would be appropriate. read more

I never thought I'd find myself needing a family lawyer but that is life and it was nice that this place was seconds away from home for me. Really though, if she was located in downtown Phoenix I would have still made the drive to meet up with Becky. I'm so glad I did set up a meeting with her. I have a pretty simple legal procedure I needed to take care of, and during my initial consultation ($100/hr) she was able to tell me everything I needed to do on my own. If my case was any more complicated I would have for sure used her and I hope to use her again in the future for some of her estate planning when the time comes. I honestly didn't expect her to be so helpful since that would be the same thing as a client coming to me for making a video or a photo shoot, and I show them how to rent a camera, find someone and do it all on their own for free instead of me making $100's of dollars for my services. It gets better, I'm working on starting my own business and briefly mention it to her, turns out she is on the board of the small business alliance in the East Valley. She recommended I attend their networking events and gave me some business card contacts. So I certainly do plan on getting involved in that too. I've never had to work with a lawyer before, but if all are as great to work with as Becky (I somehow doubt it though) then I should never have to worry. In searching for an Attorney to create our estate plan, we went to a free seminar put on by the Cholewka law firm. This was the best thing we could have done. The information was detailed enough but you didn't feel pressured or rushed into making any decisions moving forward. As a result, we chose to give them a try. Beware Prices at Cholewka Law I made an appointment with Cholewka Law in Gilbert to draw up a Will for my husband I with the intention of completing a Trust next year. The one hour consultation fee was $350 but would be waived if you proceeded with the Will THAT DAY. I pressed them more on what the average cost of the Will would be and was blown away when they replied "it is difficult to give you an exact total but for the most part our will plans are around $3300 which includes your deed and POA'S (health care and mental health care, financial). Trust plans start at an additional $3500--minor changes included during the first year and after that are charged at our hourly rate of $350." I understand there could be some estates that are more complicated than others but I re-iterated that my husband and I have 3 grown children, one house and a completed inventory of investment accounts and it should be simple. I thought the price was outrageous so I cancelled the appointment and bought Willmaker Software from Quicken for $50 and after less than 3 hours we now each have a Will that even includes trustee(s), gifts to children and charity, guardianship of our Pet as well as Power of Attorney documents all notarized for an extra $20. We still plan to complete a Trust next year and would expect to pay at least $2000 but I am disappointed with Cholewka Law as I had intentionally looked for a local family owned business to build a relationship for our future needs. What was even more ironic was the office managers Title was "Director of First Impressions" but instead of gaining us as a long term client we cancelled our appointment and instead of singing their praises to our entire neighborhood of 1200 homes who regularly ask each other for referrals on our community facebook page we shouted a big BEWARE to our neighbors and now the entire Yelp community as well. Please do your homework and make sure you are not overspending at a law office that wants you to think you cannot risk doing these documents without expensive legal advice. These documents are important but they are far from impossible to do yourself or do affordably. read more

I looked online to find an attorney who could advise me on my duties when my mom passed away. I was impressed first by the website information and then by how well everything was handled with a one-hour consultation (which could be by phone if desired).
