I had an amazing experience at Modern Ink Tattoo! The studio is HUGE, and really clean (big plus). Their booking process is elevated and seamless. My artist, Buda, was awesome! He was stoked to do my design (my recently deceased father's parrot). His equipment was the newestr in tattooing (I have many tattoos and have never seen a tattoo machine without a cord). Buda had a steady hand and a light touch. I am so impressed with this beautiful blue and gold macaw-Buda understood my vision and executed it perfectly. I have been debating on writing this because I have never wanted to leave something negative but I'd hate to see this happening to anyone else. My bf, his nephew and I called and asked if they had room for walk-in appointments and they told us yes. We came in and showed what we wanted and we all went to the same artist. He drew up the tattoos and gave us 3 size options and then just went to work. I thought it was a little weird that he didn't shave any of us before tattooing but didn't think anything of it (stupid of me). In the middle of tattooing me another artist leans over the wall and asks me if I've ever had Chlamydia which was also a little off putting. We all got charged $200 each and went on our way. A few hours after i noticed my skin started to turn purple and started getting concerned. Next day my arm was completely bruised. I've gotten multiple tattoos done and never ever bruised once and this was just insane looking. My bfs tattoo had a ton of blood in the saniderm just hours after as well that just didn't seem normal but could've just been natural? He started to get horrible scabbing 2-3 days after and we are certain it was infection with open wound. We definitely also notice some minor blowout in both of ours as well. read more

I was debating on writing this review because I'm never a person who complains but my experience was so bad that ultimately I want to be able to warn other people so they are aware before coming here. I came in as a walk in simply wanting 111 tattooed on my wrist. My mom had gone to Jianna a couple weeks prior and her tattoo was amazing and she recommended the place. I ended being with a different artist which was totally okay with me but the way the artist did everything was not okay. First of all I don't even know his name because he didn't even have the decency to introduce himself. He then also never asked specifically how I wanted my tattoo font wise just stuck up 3 sizes and said "that looks good enough" and then proceeds to just tattoo me. And yes i definitely should have spoke up for myself in these and requested what I wanted but it's hard when you feel like you can't. The tattoo took him all of less than 5 minutes to do and it isn't even well done I have multiple blowouts on it which is crazy because it should not be that hard to do numbers. Last thing that really just rounded up this visit was the fact that somehow my tattoo was $100 before tip which is crazy for THREE NUMBERS. mind you he never even brought up price till the tattoo was on my body. The overall experience just gave lack of care. And I know an artist doesn't want to do angel numbers and they probably think it's stupid but it's something I wanted and they are getting paid to do it. The money grab for me was the most insane part because he's overcharging me because I'm a 22 year old blonde girl whose tattoos aren't visible so he probably thought I was stupid. Not to mention my tattoo has bled the most out of any of my tattoos and it is very prominent that he did it way too heavy handed. I honestly would recommend just going somewhere else because the treatment is absolutely ridiculous. Walked in on Valentines day with a picture of a broken heart that I wanted on my ring finger. Im truly not happy with the below picture and very disappointed. Now going on two weeks it looks horrible. I reached out to Bo 7 days after my tattoo on Feb 24th, 2021 to ask why isnt the crack in the middle of the heart??? Bo's answer, "just give it time". Would not recommend Bo. Some lines were blurry, some too thin/not consistent with thickness of lines around them. His response was "this kinda thing happens." After the tattoo, I also had to point out a few places where I asked him to fix too thin lines, etc. If you're an experienced, high quality artist, this type of thing doesn't just happen. Attention to detail is something Bo does not have. I have three other tattoos and have not had this happen before. Seek elsewhere for true art. Today was a hard day. My wife's best friend passed away after a 3 year battle with cancer , and she decided she wanted to get a tattoo in memory of her. Called a few spots and no one had availability. Spoke with Hannah who said sure, we can fit you in today. Stopped in and had a photo of the image taken, came back a few hours later and the work began. Hannah was super friendly and patient with someone who was as very nervous. I want to caveat that the tattoo isn't at all fully healed and won't look like this in a few weeks- totally understand that. However, a few things I noticed that I want to bring up. A family member and myself went in to get matching tattoos late last week. First thing I should've made note of in the moment that I didn't was that the tattoo artists working that day said they'd each do one to make it go by faster. I wish I would've said no and spent more time there. I should've known better because I have enough tattoos to know everyone has different styles. The tattoos are the same, sure. But they look pretty different. I as a customer should've said something but I think artists should also take this into consideration knowing it's the same tattoo. So in a way looking back at it, this felt almost rushed. Second concern I had was the bruising I experienced after. The photo attached is the day after I got the tattoo. I have a tattoo in the same spot on the other arm and I didn't bruise at all. I've actually never bruised due to a tattoo before. It wasn't like the artist was pulling on my skin or grasping my arm crazy or anything. I'm more confused by this than anything. The bruising hurt more than the actual healing process of the tattoo. My last concern is with the tattoo itself. I already mentioned everyone has different styles. When it was being done I almost appreciated more that it was a little thicker lined than expected, just due to all my other tattoos being like that. However I feel it looks enough different from the matching tattoo to make me a bit uncomfortable with it. The other tattoo done by a different artist matches the photo reference perfectly. But there are aspects of the tattoo that confuse me. I've added an annotated image of what concerns me. The heart detailing seems blown out. The moon looks like it was going in one direction, then it changes direction and is where it's supposed to be. Some of the stars just look pretty sloppy. I don't really enjoy the top left end of the moon either has a star connected to it or it isn't sharp (not the best description I know). Again, I understand it isn't fully healed and won't look like this. I'm concerned the areas that look blown out prior to being fully healed will look like that healed. My biggest concern is where it looks like the moon was going but never finished on the right side of it. The shop itself was lovely. They were very friendly. Great conversation. We were happy with the price. We went as a walk in. As a customer I'd just advise to be more aware than I was. I'll probably end up trying to fix the moon with some clouds or something. Which is disappointing, as this was supposed to be a matching tattoo. read more
