I really like these modern grub meals they are Paleo, gluten-free, dairy free, no preservatives, & locally sourced; all of that good stuff. I've lost a lot of weight & it's mostly due to eating these meals daily. You can order for delivery or you can pick them up. They have wonderful monthly treats & a really cool menu that rotates weekly. One of my favorite parts about them, is it's a locally owned business and it's ran by a family. That's really cool! Also they have actual nutritionist so the meals are protein packed but also, well balanced. Modern Grub is really mindful about what they put in their food and what ultimately is put into our (us grubber's) bodies, that's a help that is much needed for myself. I try my best to eat well but let's be real: I don't cook sweet potatoes but on thanksgiving. They're a whole superfood and i love that they use them. My anemia is getting better, as well as my blood sugars. I was type 2 diabetic and it's almost completely reversed bc of my decision to just eat better with MG. The only meals i am eating are modern grub ones. Unless i have a cheat day or I'm with someone who is cooking etc. I am disabled, so cooking with my heart condition ( alone) is difficult and i was eating out a lot. These meals are cheaper than eating out. I have no reason not to get them, in my honest opinion: if i can buy fast food everyday. I can save some money (and calories, carbs, fat, weight, etc) and just buy some mg meals. Literally i pop one in the microwave and in about 3 minutes i have my food. Doordash can't beat that. Not even with an extra fee, Orders are due by Thursday at noon and they use shop pay, that's an app i trust fully for transactions. I've had my eye on this place for a while. I always see different food items posted on Facebook as well as advertisement for their rotating menu.They have a four week rotating menu with different breakfast and lunch/dinner items that change each week as well as every day items that they cook regularly. I've been meaning to stop by because everything looks delicious, but it's a little up of the way from where I live. Today I finally got the chance to check it out and I'm glad I did. When you walk in the first thing you notice is that everything is super clean and well organized. This is mainly a meal prep service, however the food can be picked up to-go like a takeout restaurant. They do have pre-prepared foods, desserts, and salads available in fridges in the lobby for you to pick up a meal or you can ask what they have available from the weekly menu. One of the employees told me the only thing to be aware of is that pre-order is preferred because some of their meals sell out quickly. There's no guarantee that the meal that you want will be available unless you pre-order it. They also do delivery in Bakersfield for a $5 charge or $10 if it's over ten miles. You can see their rotating menu on the website and also order there as well. The food was delicious! They do not use any salt and all of the ingredients are really clean. The meals are a very simple but full of flavor. This is the perfect solution for if you want to meal prep but don't have the time or feel that you are lacking in the experience to do it yourself. Really enjoyed this place. Everything is pre-packed in plastic containers and you just grab and go. Perfect if you're on the go. There's a microwave you can use if you want to heat up your food there. There's also a few small tables right outside you can sit at if you wanted to eat there. I got salmon broccoli over brown rice and it was delicious. The best part is that everything is HEALTHY. The style of food is simple and homemade with natural ingredients and without the extra butter/dressing/sugar etc that restaurant food normally has. If you're looking for something fancy this is not the place, but if you want healthy, pre prepped meals that taste good and you feel good about eating you've found your go to spot. They also sell locally made fresh pressed juices and desserts. Modern Grub is a great concept! My fiance and I have a hard time packing and prepping meals for work so we always end up eating junk. Well, to avoid that we went searching for meal prep services and decided to try Modern Grub first. There are a few things that I love about this place after trying. First, although it is semi confusing menu wise your first time, there was an amazing employee who was patient in explaining to me how everything works. Second, I like that they offer standard and rotating menus. Third, I love that they keep extras on hand so it isn't necessary to pre order absolutely everything. Fourth, the containers are very nice and easy to use. I also found the containers were all recyclable. Fifth, the variety was decent. Sixth, the meals we tried were very filling. The only criticisms I have is it is a *little* top end for my meal budget. The salads were $7.50 but they are filling, so that was alright but the entrees are a little pricier at $11 a piece. I think this is because they are protein heavy so costs are probably higher, but budget wise for me wanting to find something regular it isn't really going to work as a 4 day a week plan for me unless I survive off the salads. The other thing is these meals are on the bland side. I'm sure they are trying to navigate the fact people have special diet concerns that order from them and people wanting to keep calories as low as possible, so I get it, but still I will have to probably use sauces or something to flavor it up a bit for regular consumption for me. On the flip side, I could see this as a great option for elderly people needing meals delivered or just not knowing what to cook living alone. Great option! Overall, I would eat purchase again from here but I just don't think it will be a regular thing like I had hoped. The food is good quality, but not really to our taste... most items we've ordered have been pretty bland, and who wants to have to try and figure out how to add flavor when it's supposed to be a ready-to-go meal? Writing a review based on customer service which was excellent!! I bought my friend a gift card for her bday online and the gift card didn't reach my friend. So I called in 10 mins after close, and to my surprise Katie from MG picked up. I could tell she was exhausted from the day but that didn't stop her from trying to figure out how to get my friend the gift card. Even though I told Katie it would be fine if my friend got it the next day, she wasn't having it. Katie was determined and on a mission! This was probably the most God awful excuse for food that I've had in a very long time. I Purchased the steak breakfast tacos with scrambled eggs and pico from my local convenient store. The cost was $11.50 and for the meal it was 482 cal 42 g of protein and 12 g of carbs. The steak tasted like it was boiled. There was absolutely no appetizing flavor to it on top of the fact that it was like chewing on a leather belt. The eggs also had zero seasoning and the pico de gallo was big chunks of tomatoes with a little bit of cilantro sprinkled in. If you're into flavorless food that's overpriced you will absolutely love this. As for me I will never purchase this again or any other product that they offer. Walking in for the first time, I was not sure what to expect. Big, open, CLEAN space that looks like it could be a chef's dream for cooking. Smelled great. Of course I left with 2 meals for hubby to try. He is my guinea pig I guess! So far he has loved the breakfast (healthy protein pancakes with eggs and bacon). I like the concept of Modern Grub. The only thing I don't like is that they aren't keto friendly. Most of the food items they carry I could never eat because they simply have way too many carbs. Their food might be nutritious for athletes and bodybuilders but for someone who's truly trying to watch their blood sugars and is trying to lose weight their not the best option. If they ever considered expanding their low carb and sugar free options their sales would triple I promise you. Until then I guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens. I first chatted back and forth with them thru email with some questions and they were super nice and helpful. I placed my online order and set up for wednesday delivery. Since i haven't experienced this before i decided to get 5 dinners for myself. They are single serving meals so if you have a family that you want to feed you would need to order a meal for each person. The pricing is fine with me...and it's $5 for delivery to your home/office within 10 miles such a plus!! It's just so freaking easy!! i don't even have to think i just grab a meal out of the fridge and follow the directions for heating and within 3 min i have a yummy, filling, high quality, healthy dinner!! so last night i had the salmon, broccoli and brown rice with lemon...super delicious cooked perfectly i will admit i added a touch of sea salt (cuz i'm salty LOL)...tonight i'm eating the apricot turkey burger with goat cheese crumbles, fresh spinach and roasted butternut squash and balsamic dressing, sooo good!!! no i didn't add salt it was yummy on its own. i love that the calories, fat, carbs and protein are all counted for you. my delivery came on time in an insulated bag when promised. Been wanting to try healthy fast food options lately. Did some research and based on reviews chose to try Modern Grub. I'm so glad I did. My husband, me and my 6 year old walked in and were greet by Jenna. She spent time with us showing us what they had in for that weeks menu and we picked a couple different items. I loved how they have a couple options for kids as well! My son got the Pizza Bites and loved them! We own our own business and I rarely have time to cook so we have noticed the lbs packing on and def feel how unhealthy we are eating. I just tried it for the first time. Delicious food- especially the desserts. My husband and I both eat Paleo. Great for on the go - however, the service left something to be desired. The directions on all the food says "Heat 2-3 minutes ". That's it. The first time I followed the directions on two dinners and heated 2 1/2 minutes. The result? Melted containers of sauces on the inside of the package , and items scalding with steam . I learned in the first dinner to wait before removing the lid , but the plastic sauce container was wasted . The meal ruined. $10 down the drain. When I returned to purchase some more desserts I mentioned the poor directions. All three employees simply made excuses for their inadequate directions and said, "we ran out of room on the label". No , "Can we replace your $10 meal?" Just excuses.
