I had a little problem with my throwout bearing. I contacted Modern driveline tech support. I spoke with Tylor, he emeditly knew what the problem was. He directed me to the perfect solution! Sent a t5 to them to fix issue with 2nd &3rd gear difficult upshifting and downshifting. When my mechanic put it in the car, he called me and said it was not shifting smoothly. Appeared it still had issue. Talked to MDL and they suggested that I returned it to them. Now I live in Baton Rouge and they are in Utah, so it gets expensive to send transmission back and forth plus to remove and reinstall. They checked it out and said that it was fine. After installing the second time, still did not shift smoothly. Used the gear oil they recommended. Called MDL and they suggested that I needed to break it in. Now, this car is now 38 years old, 156,000 miles and I only drive it occasionally. Finally I found someone locally that removed the tranny, rebuilt it and reinstalled it. Now it shifts like new and I can enjoy driving it. Not having to worry about damaging my gears or ruining my complete transmission. Emailed MDL several weeks back about this and asked for some compensation for the less than competent work and cost of shipment plus the extra work by my mechanic. NEVER heard anything from them. CANNOT recommend MDL because of this. read more

Great parts. Just make sure they "remember" your order. Waited a week + for delivery and finally called to see what was up. Was told, "Oh sorry, we forgot to send them." When I asked that they overnight them since they forgot, they told me if I wanted to pay $65 they would. Not exactly what I would call great customer service. read more

The Sunbeam Tiger five speed package TKO600RR kit I bought is just perfect. I wanted an overdrive transmission that required ABSOLUTELY NO MODIFICATIONS to the vehicle. After some discussion about what I was doing with my street Tiger, Modern Driveline put together a package for me. It was so easy working with everyone there. Modern Driveline provided everything needed to do the job right down to details like the proper shifter boot and trim piece, and, of course, the OEM type shifter knob. I never realized how bad the old top-loader was! The TKO600 is absolutely magnificent in comparison. It has a very narrow gate and the gears just snap into place perfectly. My every day street Tiger (not a showcar by any means) was in the British section of the auto show at the Watkins Glen vintage races last September 2018. It was so much fun listening to people looking at the car. Many people noted something like, "I never knew the Tiger had a five speed but, look, it has the OEM shifter with five speeds on it"! For this car, we purchased Modern Driveline's entire T5Z conversion with the option to actuate the clutch using the MDL recommendation for MDL-supplied Tilton internal slave and Wilwood master cylinder. Here is our humble opinion based on our experience. The driveline conversion companies essentially assemble these kits from other manufacturers' components, with the exception of some custom supports etc. All the driveline conversion companies' pricing seems to be comparable. So what you are really buying is the expertise, support and customer service of the driveline conversion company. Even professional techs will likely need some advice during the install of a hydraulic clutch actuation unless you have done one before or unless your firewall is bare. While the Tilton and Wilwood components are of high quality, it is quite difficult to get quality assistance or tech support from Modern Driveline. If Bruce is "in conference," away or just in an off mood, you won't get any response by email or by phone. Modern Driveline included the wrong clutch alignment tool, necessitating extra hours installing the clutch. But a quick glance by the Modern Driveline person boxing the clutch at what was being shipped would have saved us hours of work and days of waiting for the correct alignment tool to arrive days later from Modern Driveline. MDL also sent us a transmission mount with crooked mounting bolts. We did not realize this until after fighting it for a day. We tried modifying it (on Modern Driveline's reco) and aligning the trans / motor mounts 3 times. Finally, Bruce at Modern said Modern Driveline was aware of a quality issue with their trans mounts, coming out of manufacture with crooked bolts. Great! They would have saved the customer a lot of grief with a 10-second check of components of which they knew a percent were bad. This means Modern Driveline are happy to let the customer fix their known quality problems. Not the end of the world. But having to do it over again, we would research and vet a driveline conversion supplier with an eye towards quality control and customer service, but not Modern Driveline. After all, if you are giving them your trust and paying $4000 to $5000 for the service, don't you deserve it? read more

Fantastic people and great to do business with. We had a McLeod clutch that had to be replaced after 150 miles by McLeod. Replacement came and was a mess. The next one came and we were still having trouble. Talking to McLeod was wasted time. I found Modern Driveline on the interweb. Their tech department explained everything I needed to know. I bought a new hydraulic throw out bearing from them and wound up buying a whole new clutch assembly. We live in Southern Oregon and drove to Idaho to get it properly adjusted and had their tech check it out. They met us at their shop at 7:30 a.m., were done by 8:30 a.m. and we left for Oregon. Very professional and great to give out information. I would recommend them any day. read more

I knew that a project like this was going to be difficult in a drivable car. Just getting the mechanical part under the dash was a nightmare. But when getting that done, it Should have been all down hill. Had to air chisel some console bracket out to get it flush. The problem here is the instructions with the bleed process, after calling we got on the same page with that. But pedal was just not right, to soft at first, then got better. It's just got to have air in it. After figuring how to work on the slave, cause there is no room in tunnel and a half of big bottle of fluid, it doesn't push the fork 1.2 in. 2nd call to mdl was like your not bleeding correctly. But I noticed that the travel not matter how adjusted is only less than 3/4 in. I made a bushing in fork pivot but to gain 3/8 in. Still not enough. I argued that as hard as it was to pull master rod out all the way, they said just leave it in and unbolt bracket pull it towards front all the way that will work. Nobody ever said to check that measurement again!! Cause you have to do that every time to bleed anyway. Bleed instructions are not right, the page for measurement picture is not right. AND that was the whole problem, the master push rod adjustment was off 1)2 in. How I did that, who knows, but not even a single word about that. Tech service should have been on that from the first, but always check again. After all I've done everything else 50 times. MLD did say they need to rewrite instructions, I was steered to the wrong part the whole time. Oh, that bushing I made is still in the fork but. You will have to figure this out yourself, good luck. I would go with a bearing type next time. read more

A buddy and I each ordered complete TKO 600 kits in February 2020. Modern Driveline offers custom gears so we ordered 0.73:1 overdrive gears, which are better suited for our application. It took until October to receive the transmissions and kits. We did not know that MDL has the custom gears made by another company, Liberty's Gears in Detroit. Before they shipped, MDL advised that fifth gear was a little noisier than stock gearing but should get quieter. After installing the first transmission, fifth gear noise is unacceptable, howling like it will destroy the whole gearbox. We sent video and audio recordings to both MDL and Liberty's. MDL didn't seem to care. These transmission should never have left MDL's shop. Liberty's acknowledged that the noise was "outrageous" and had one transmission shipped to them in Detroit, promising to make it right. Now we can't get our calls returned. The cost for custom gears was nearly half what an entire transmission costs and MDL has washed their hands of responsibility. read more

I have a 1964 Ford Falcon 260 V8 manual 3 speed called Modern Driveline spoke with Paul told him that I wanted to put a 5 speed in my car he set me up with everything that I would need to convert it over. I installed the new tremec t5 in only 4 hours it was the easiest conversion that I have ever done. I highly recommend these products to anyone who wants to improve gas mileage and performance. read more

most importantly i would like to say that they've refunded my money, less shipping for all the wrong parts. bruce said "this is my business, i do this every day" and seemed very sure of himself on the phone and said he knew everything i needed , he'd box it up and send it out. he sure sounded like he knew what he was talking about. Not knowing the first parts i bought were wrong , i kept buying more to match those and it was a disaster. the guys were friendly and attempting to be helpful but the tech support was not good. the customer service was great. no arguing about giving my money back, no hassles. i know mistakes happen, but this was a mess. i do feel safe in saying they wont rip you off. read more

Arguably the worst experience I've ever had. I bought an entire package from Modern Driveline at the Spring Carlisle show 2 years ago. Bought everything they recommended T-5 Tremic, Tilton Hydraulic Throwout bearing, Quick time Bell Housing , Superior Clutch, Drive Shaft. We were still restoring the 68 Mustang and did not have the engine yet.Now 2 years down the road and having the car on the road for a year, we immediately called up about the clutch slipping, they said call Superior which we did. That person told us to burn the kevlar clutch in by letting it slip, increase rpm's for 10 seconds while slipping and do it 10 times with cool down in between. Did nothing to help. Had problems getting in to reverse. Then we were told that maybe we needed to have clutch "dialed in", something we did not know about. So that brings me to the present we took car to a company that specializes in classic cars and full restorations. Treasured motor cars in Owings mills. They proceeded to tell me that, there was 2 pieces broken inside shifter, "Modern says they dont know how it could be broken" then I'm told that the clutch and flywheel are scared and burnt up and need replacing, I'm told the clutch was never disengaging because the parts that were sent for the throwout bearing were wrong. Now $3,600 and counting we are still waiting on a pin for the throwout bearing that was sent wrong the first and secon time. I'm told by ModernDriveline that they make thier own clutchs now and Superior is out of business. Should I be paying all this money when they sent the wrong parts originally. I asked them if they were helping with that when i spoke to Paul Coffee who said he would ask his boss Bruce Coture. To date 3/30/17 I have not gotten a call back. So dont trust or buy anything from Moderndriveline they dont back what they sell and dont sell u the right parts to begin with. Don't believe the Hype about ELITE TREMIC DEALER they arent.
