Why take kids bowling, again, when you can go shoot stuff? It's a little expensive, but it's worth it. Here's how it works; First, you get a long safety talk and training bit. I was surprised the kids paid attention and listened. It was good - I liked that we can call these things "guns" here. I took a legit gun safety class once and we had to call them "firearms" and not guns or weapons. These are guns - call them what they are! Anyhow, after that, you can pick literally any gun hanging on the wall or in the cabinet. And there is a LOT to choose from. It is completely overwhelming as being someone who is new to this. We loaded up with guns, ammo, and targets and it was off to the range. The range is not huge - there are only 6 lanes - but we had it to ourselves to start. You hang your target yourself and use the above lever to move it back down the room. There are these neat camera / video screen things so that you can SEE the target even when it's far away. Also, way down at the end of the room were these metal targets that ping when you hit them. Apparently I can hit them when not trying, but never when I try to on purpose! This place has airguns and air-soft guns. Air soft uses a different ammo - like larger plastic BBs. The others use a small metal projectile. We had fun shooting. You can spend all the time you like there. You can always buy more CO2 cartridges or targets or ammo. I will say this - it took a lot longer to get up and running here. I was expecting a 1/2 hour training but all told getting everything going took more like an hour or so. It was close to dinner time so we were starving when we left. Not really a big deal - just wanted to set expectations with you so that you set aside enough time when coming here. Kids had a blast, they were better than me, which was not surprising. I chose a dirty harry style gun and I am NOT dirty harry! They didn't know who that was and my guess is neither do you. Kids today...

So, despite moving from Southie to Somerville, I still play in my beloved Southie softball league…read more One of the league rules is that every team must have a uniform. So, I purchased 15 shirts from a professional connection, but the place I got the shirts told me it was too small of an order to do the screen printing and have numbers specific to each jersey (my guys are picky about that). So, I headed over to "The Spot" and met with Dave, the owner, who happened to be manning the shop. Don't be fooled by his age, this kid knows his stuff. He went trhough all the logistics with me in a snap, had everything in line to the penny, and even offered to help me out with some hats, which I was interested in. He told me everything would be ready in a week, and sure enough, he was faster than that. The logo was exactly what I wanted, all the numbers were correct to the proper shirt sizes, and the price was exactly what he had quoted me. As for the hat, once the rest of my team saw it, they all ponied up the extra cash for their own - and he is going to be able to spin those for us before our first game. Dave is professional, effiecient, and does great work. Anytime I need something like this done, I know right where to go. The only thing I would change is I wish I bought my shirts from him to give him more business.
