I've been going to these since they opened back in 2018. At this point, I think I've gotten my haircut by every single barber there and they're all great people. My son's first hair cut was here and they even made that special for us. Amazing with their customer base, passionate about their craft, and overall great vibes in the shop. This review is for the setting of the shop and for Bryan. I started coming to this shop about 3 years ago and I have been going to modern barber room ever since. At first I was a little intimidated coming to this shop because I am not used to coming to "Barber Shops". The shop is well maintain and clean every time I come. The shop is located in a plaza and has plenty of parking spots. Bryan has been welcoming and super professional. This guy has golden hands and definitely gives his clients the best service. David has been cutting my hair for years and I followed him when he finally opened his own shop. He's not only a skilled barber, but also a great owner. Him and his crew at Modern Barber Room takes all the necessary precautions during COVID and probably one of the only few places who still takes temperature upon arrival of their client. All of the barbers are also wearing masks. David recently cancelled my appointment due to possible exposure to COVID. If you are looking for a decent haircut, this is not the place, at least not for me today. I could tell from the beginning that Andrew was not the right barber for me, he did everything hastily. He cut my hair in less than 15 minutes, that's right, he seemed to be in big hurry. As he was cutting my hair, I could tell the hair clippers' blade was dull, it kept pulling my hair, I didn't say anything. Suddenly, I began feeling the blade shaving the back of my neck without shaving cream! Next, I feel this painful nick behind my right ear, I winced and pulled away as a normal instinct. Despite the fact that he had inflicted three nicks on my skin, he continued shaving my neck without using any lotion. After that, Andrew kept dabbing on the nick with a piece of tissue, I was bleeding. At the end the haircut all he told me was "you have a tiny cut" He never apologized. I still had the decorum to tip him. Compared to my usual barber in Silver Lake, Andrew was not particularly adept with his dull hair clipper. I had to rush to pharmacy to buy some antiseptic for the three cuts and a lotion for razor burn. Going to a new barber is always a crapshoot. I will never go back to this place. read more

I have been getting my cut here since the beginning of 2018. I come in every 2 weeks to get my hair right. My go to barber is Bryan (@swavestyles on insta). This place is LIT! I mean actually very well lit with fluorescent lighting and always clean, light colored floors. I'm never disappointed when I get a cut from Bryan. Here are some instances as to why you should get a cut here: 1. I came in for my usual cut. Bryan did his thing and I was looking fresh. It was a Friday so I had to go out and show the ladies my line up. After a few drinks with the boys I was approached by a creature of the night. Scared for my life, I moved to safety on the dance floor. After a few moments of relief I noticed the creature had followed me. I could run again or fight. I decided to stand up to the creature. I walked right up to her only to realize it was a Cougar (attractive, older female). She was digging my haircut and beard. We danced the night away and STUFF. Want to catch a Cougar? Get a cut here. 2. Week before Chella so I had to get a cut. Bryan hooked it up as usual. Let's just say the Weekend, Beyoncé, and Eminem wasn't the only LINE UP entertaining the crowds that weekend. 3. Heading to Vegas? Stop here first. I got a fresh cut before Vegas. You know I had to get a nice fade and line up before I get FADED! Anyways, I get to Vegas, sit down at my favorite Wheel of Fortune slot machine, pull the lever, and won $500. What does my haircut have to do with my luck you ask? Get yourself a perfect line up here, and your stars will align. It's common sense. 4. I had a hot date so I had to come in for an emergency cut. I went to this place because my primary barber was booked and I needed a cut pretty bad lol almost a month since I cut my hair I needed one asap. Desperate needs meet for desperate measures, I went on yelp and I saw this spot, Gave them a call on a Saturday morning which is when usually everyone wants a cut, they told me they had barbers available a total of 6 barbers working there. I was a little nervous to allow another barber whom I have no clue how my hairs going to come out , turns out he did a great job. Im very satisfied with my cut.
