    Rachel Gardens Montville

    Rachel Gardens Montville

    (16 reviews)

The only good thing about living in the Rachel Gardens complex is the location. There is quick,…read moreeasy access to major highways: Rte. 46, Route, 280, Rte. 80 Route 287, Route 10, and Rte 23. The most important problem is that the construction of the buildings is extremely cheap. The ceilings on the ground floor apartments are paper-thin. My 1 bedroom ground floor apartment is directly below my neighbor's living room. Rachel Gardens management has in their lease terms a clause requiring that tenants in 2nd floor units must cover 80% of their hard wood floors with carpeting and rugs to control noise for ground floor tenants. The last 3 tenants have ignored the rug rule and I've had to file complaints with management to make the tenants comply. Because of the noise, I'm deprived of sleep every day and nothing I do helps the problem. What am I paying $2,000/month for if I can't use my bed and get quality sleep whenever I need it, day or night? My advice to you is not to rent a unit in Rachel Gardens if you want at least a reasonable amount of peace and quiet. Another problem is cell phone service in the complex is terrible This has nothing to do with service providers, AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile. I can only get 2 bars on my phone in my ground floor apartment, I try to make calls and there is no connection, calls are dropped or the calls break up. If you live in the middle of the complex, it's really bad reception. The only solution is to 1) get a landline phone or 2) get an extender from your cell phone providor. I got an extender from Verizon for free because my reception was so horrible and now I have great reception in the apartment. But no tenant should have to put up with bad cell service and pay expensive Rachel Gardens rent. Another problem is that the road that runs through the complex is used by children as a playground. There is a nice playground in a safe place on-site, but too many children, some as young as 5, ride their bikes, playing and running into the road ignoring oncoming cars. I've never seen adult supervision of these playing children. It's a tragedy waiting to happen. A child is going to get seriously injured or killed by them biking or running into oncoming cars. Management sends notices to tenants to take responsibility for their children when outside, but these appeals are ignored. Save yourself from a miserable quality of life and don't move into Rachel Gardens. The super convenient location isn't worth it since management won't take your quality of life seriously.

You can tell them a million complaints and problems but they refuse to do anything. Wont put up cameras in the buildings despite multiple instances of thefts and visits from police. Useless is the best word to describe the management. They don't value their residents and seem to do anything to save a couple bucks and the problem solving provided by Rachel gardens is nonexistent. Stay away and get away from this shit hole if possible as far as I've seen they have zero desire to improve upon there issues and I will be getting my family out of here as soon as possible.

Living at Rutgers Village was a disappointing experience. After four years, the complex went from…read morehaving a community vibe to being purely profit-driven and corporate. Laundry costs were raised, and the machines were replaced with smaller units. Rent increased by 8% annually, they closed and filled in the pool, and there are no amenities. The apartments are old garden-style units with outdated and problematic plumbing--our tub was repeatedly filled with sewage due to issues from other units. Management imposed unreasonable policies, like mandating $300K liability renter's insurance (despite the lease not requiring it under threat of you guessed it - fines) and fining residents for lockouts or clogged drains. Noise issues were another nightmare: we had a college student upstairs who partied until 4 AM multiple times a month. It took nearly nine months of complaints before management did anything, and only after we threatened to involve the police. When we moved out, we were hit with a baseless $200 cleaning fee despite leaving the apartment in good condition. If you consider living here, document everything thoroughly because they'll find every opportunity to drain your wallet. Avoid if possible!

I have never encountered such unprofessional and unethical behavior from a property management team…read morein my life. The current management at this complex is not only unresponsive to residents' concerns but has repeatedly demonstrated behavior that is invasive, dishonest, and frankly, discriminatory. One resident's apartment was entered multiple times without permission -- a gross violation of privacy and legal boundaries. Another resident was charged an excessive, unjustified amount during lease renewal, and when questioned, management gave no explanation and simply kept the money. Even more disturbing are the repeated racist remarks and behaviors exhibited by the staff. They do not engage in respectful dialogue. When approached to discuss an issue, they speak and act as if residents are beneath them, dismissing concerns with condescension and aggression. None of the ongoing problems in the building -- from maintenance issues to safety concerns -- are handled in a solution-focused way. Requests are ignored, emails go unanswered, and any attempt at communication is met with hostility. This is not just about bad management -- this is about basic respect, dignity, and legal responsibility, none of which are being upheld here. If you're considering moving here, I urge you to reconsider. No one should have to pay rent to be mistreated in their own home.

I did a LOT of research for places to rent crates from when I was moving and landed on prontoboxes…read morebecause they had consistently good reviews and a price that was lower than the competitors with no hidden costs. My experience was very personal and great (you can tell this is a smaller company). I was reached out to the day before my crates were to be delivered asking if they could deliver them a day later due to some issues on their end; I told them I was planning to go out of town in a few days and really didn't want to lose the day packing, and they made it happen as scheduled. The crates arrived right on schedule and were brought in to my apartment. After I moved and finished unpacking, I was done a couple days early and texted to see if they could pick the boxes up early and they came out later that day and took them from inside my apartment. Great experience!

Their bins are pretty spacious compared to cardboard boxes. There's also less mess and more space when you move as you don't need to worry about breaking down and getting rid of all that cardboard. I got the studio apartment package for 3 weeks and didn't think I needed the dolly - but the dolly came in handy as I was packing and unpacking, to more easily get to the boxes I needed. The boxes themselves were easily stackable and you'd know if you overpacked them based on the design. The boxes are also super sturdy. To label them, I'd recommend using masking tape - super cheap and no need for all that extra label paper. The tape also peels right off when you're done but stays on better than the reusable labels. (I didn't use the pro to labels because they were a bit small for me). When the boxes arrived, they were mostly clean and ready to go. The boxes' drop off and pickup were both super smooth. When I was not satisfied with the garment boxes, I was only charged for the week I had it. I did have to pay for the extra pickup, but it was still cheaper than keeping the garment boxes for 3 weeks. The boxes stack into each other easily when you're done so it saves space as you unpack. Pro tip: as you unpack, stack the boxes right onto the dolly, including the box you're in the process of unpacking. Customer service is super responsive over text and it felt like they took an interest in making the process as smooth as possible for me. I had unpacked a day early and they were able to come by and pick up the boxes the same day. I was getting unlimited cardboard boxes for free from my dad's job but was glad I used pronto boxes instead for this move.

The units are like small houses! Three floors with a finished basement and a laundry room! The property is like going on a small hike, versus walking through an apartment complex.. Which is appropriate considering it is right across the street from South Mountain Reservation! Jay the manager has been great and and has handled issues well. Tim became the building super a few years ago and his impact is quite apparent. Northfield Townhouses has been leveling up more and more since Tim has arrived. He is courteous, knowledgeable, professional, honest and works clean! It is obvious that he has been doing this a long time and that this is his career and not just a job, he truly cares about not just maintaining the buildings and property, but making you feel comfortable having him in your home for repairs..as residents, we are very lucky to have him as a part of the team here! My husband Jerry and I absolutely LOVE living here, and are very pleased to see the improvements that happen year to year. Most of the other residents are friendly as well-it's unlikely to walk the property and be warmly greeted when people are outside. We highly recommend checking this place out in person if you are looking for a GREAT place to live!!, Oh I forgot to mention the beautiful pool we have on the premise, it's fun hanging out with the neighbors and children!
