The staff are friendly but sometimes there can be a bit of a language barrier, if you are new to getting your nails done and don't know the process this can be a little daunting as their are instructions you must follow, in saying that, more savvy patrons will always lending a helping hand if need be. I've never had a pedicure here, but while I get my manicure I do notice the customers enjoying a pedicure savouring every moment, that includes a leg massage by the looks of it. ProfessioNAIL is clean, consistent and has skilled nail technicians, Kim is my personal favourite! I can't imagine you'd be let down, I trusted them to do my nails the day before my wedding.

I have decided (with the trip of a lifetime on the horizon) that now is the best time to have my dreads redone (lowest maintenance hairstyle ever!). Do Yer Nut only charge $585 to dread your hair, no matter how long, thick, short or fuzzy it is. They also stock dread DIY kits and tonnes of accessories and dreadlock hair care products. I'm pretty sure it dates back to when I was a child, a hair dresser decided my also curly haired sister and I needed side burns. Yes side burns. On little girls. Screw you 80's. Anyway, long term scarring aside, I find it difficult to trust again so I was pretty cautious when I first visited Crow Hair on the recommendation of a friend. To start with the space and the staff are gorgeous. Hilarious owner (who is great at hair if you can get in to his busy schedule) and delightful girls who all seem to be stylish and talented and good at making frumps like me feel good. They are also very complimentary of my curl and never mention the tide mark of old colour invariably found in my locks, which is super polite of them. I walked out with straight hair (free, done as a challenge by the owner and probably not my best look - I looked like the love child of a real estate agent and a news anchor) but when I wet my hair I was relieved to see a really sensitive cut that kept my length but lifted weight off so my curl had a chance to, well, curl. Lots of great advice (I had no idea permanent colours contributed to breakage) and the prices are VERY reasonable compared to city salons. I'll go back within a much more sensible time frame I promise.

I went in on Wednesday and they were able to fit me in for an hour later for a cut. All the seats seem to always be full though so I think I was just lucky. The price was fantastic and way less than I was expecting. My only problem is that my haircut is so good that now I am TOO cute and it's affecting my life because I have too much self confidence now so I think maybe next time I'm going to ask for something uglier. If my usual hairdresser is not available, I have no hesitation with booking my appointment with another hairdresser there. A very resonably priced salon as well (how many places can say that in Brisbane!). Another thing I love about Tonsure is that they never over or double-book - I have the same hairdresser from start to finish and the well-trained apprentices to wash hair and observe the techniques without being in the way. It also has the added benefit of being right next to Dandelion and Driftwood!

My adorable husband was the first to get me over there by surprising me with a 90 minute full body massage. Gotta love him! Lisa, the beauty therapist who owns and operates all of Botanique's services is a warm and welcoming person, down to earth and it's hard not to feel completely comfortable around her from the start. Lisa operates Botanique from home in a studio at the back of her main house. Clearly signed and with easy access, you simply ring the doorbell on the gate and out pops Lisa! The studio is a professional get up and is certainly tranquil, you don't get any noise from other therapists or clients. It's just you, the beautiful aromas of essential oils and the lulling gentle music. Lisa is a gem at what she does, and considering I'm a jumpy ball of lead I was able to completely relax in the moment and let my pain and worries melt away. I could literally feel the tension leaving each section of my body as she went from my feet to my legs, back, shoulders, neck and arms and finally to my face and head. If it didn't feel so damn good I would certainly have fallen asleep but my body and mind ended up so relaxed it was like my mind was in a trance. As fantastic as my massage was the 90 minutes didn't absolutely fly by and although I was disappointed when time was up there wasn't one part of my body that needed more relaxing. I was in heaven. Lisa's background is in marketing so she's fabulous at keeping you up to date with her latest specials via email if you want to provide your email address. And she certainly has some of the best spa specials I've ever seen, from one hour full body massages for $40, to foot treatments, facials and other treatments at great prices I am always awed at how much cheaper Lisa is than some of the larger spa's. If only people knew that in this case cheaper is definitely better. If you are looking for your own private oasis, with no noise, no worries and no stresses, you need to see Lisa. Check out her even better deals at special times of the year such as at Christmas, Mothers Day and Valentine's Day. The views are great from the restaurant, the food is fab and the service is good. What struck me the most was the general ambiance and cheerful nature of those who worked there. Something delightful! As we don't drink wine and part of the voucher included a free bottle of wine, they were more than accommodating and covered the cost of our drinks so that we got our money's worth. This was a very kind and selfless gesture and we were a tad shocked and very grateful. I highly recommend coming here for even just a day trip. I'd love to stay over one day though! It's a little oasis not too far from the city.

Located on Clear Mountain (as the name suggests) the lodge provides spectacular views of the Moreton Bay Region. They cater for corporate retreats, function and weddings and do a spectacular job. I have stayed here for a corporate retreat and have also attended a wedding - both experiences were wonderful. Great food and service, comfortable rooms and beautiful clean mountain air. A spa and vineyard also feature at the resort however I was not lucky enough to experience either. If you want a short trip away to re-energise and rejuvenate I highly recommend the Clear Mountain Lodge.
