I was introduced to this place by a coworker. The inside area is clean and cold. Outdoor area has good seating as well. The service at the counter should be a bit friendly and enthusiastic. Not a big fan of staff who won't smile and welcome you. The pizza it self is as good as you make it. A great, convenient work lunch. I like this location because it's fairly spacious, well-lit, and clean. The veggie toppings are always fresh and never have that wilted, sitting-out-for-hours look about them. Their workflow is standard for any Mod Pizza, but they're particularly efficient here during a lunch rush as they are near a good number of large businesses and office buildings. As far as food, I almost always go for a pizza with a white sauce base, spinach, chicken, mushrooms, and roasted red bell peppers with the balsamic glaze, though I sometimes go rogue and add other things. Never serves me wrong! Really, my only gripe is that for this particular section of this specific shopping center/plaza, I hate the parking and the outlet to De Zavala. While I know this isn't something under their control, it is something to take into consideration. Mozz, sausage, pepperoni, red onion, and mushrooms. Really great pizza and at the end we topped it with mikes hot honey at no additional cost. After two drinks (unlimited refills) it came out to $37 with tip. We were full and happy. I'm a pizza fanatic and this didn't disappoint. Great crust and the sauce was nice too. We wanted something quick, easy, and delicious of course! MOD definitely checked all those boxes. We ordered online for pickup so we could relax at home. Both my wife and I did a "build your own pizza" and each of us got the No Name Cake. Ordering was super easy online and the pickup was super easy. Kudos to the team there for being very friendly as well. The pizzas were still very hot when we got home. They were not greasy at all either which is a big plus from my better half. All the ingredients tasted fresh as well. Really the only ding that we had was that they did forget the sliced tomatoes on my wife's pizza. Other than that, everything was excellent! I really wanted to like this place but every-time I order pick up or delivery, they get my order wrong. It's happened 2 times now and I've had to go all the way back to get it re-made. I recently ordered a pizza and the entire thing was wrong so I went back and instead of someone telling a manager ... they just asked me to wait until they made a new one. I sat 15 minutes until the new pizza was ready and they just handed me the pizza and didn't say anything or even ask what the issue was. It's really frustrating because their pizza is really good when it's made right. I'd say don't do delivery because it gets soggy by the time it gets to you and always check your orders! This review is long overdue. We were staying at a hotel nearby about two months ago and we wanted pizza for dinner. Saw that we can order customized pizzas. Went there at the estimated time provided. No greetings when you come in. We stood there in the "online pickup line" with no acknowledgement. Finally after one of the workers finished helping a customer, we asked for our orders. I always come to mod pizza as I enjoy the fresh ingredients and the service I usually get. However tonight was a very different story. My husband was ordering his salad and asked for chicken. The guy wearing a red shirt (he didn't want to give his name) poured bacon in the bowl and my husband said he didn't ask for that. The guy said "so what you want me to start over?" My husband let it go and ordered his mod pizza. I wanted a salad and the manager in blue (also didn't want to give his name) said they were out. I was paying for our meal and waiting to be handed our drinks, when the cashier answered the phone and walked off. The same guy in red was boxing up our pizzas. I asked for sauce on top and he blatantly rolled his eyes and said "anything else?" Never have I been treated with such disrespect before by employees. I asked to speak to the manager in blue and I voiced my complaint about the guy's attitude. The manager simply said it's been a long day man. I'm a manager myself at a retail clothing store and I would never allow my staff to treat people that way nor would I excuse the behavior. Not to mention the woman placing the pizzas in the oven was using her bare fingernails to get the dough off the metal rack and push it into the oven. I'm so upset I hadn't tried this place sooner! My two friends and I came here and got the mod sized pizzas. You can choose one of their own pizza or you can do your own and it's all the same price no matter how many toppings you add. I pretty much got the BBQ pizza without onion, added spinach, corn, and pesto. It was amazing and only $8 with some change. We also ordered the cinnamon sticks, which I don't think is a must have, but if you love their dough and love cinnamon, you'll love this as well :)) My second time coming here I got the gluten friendly crust since I'm now gluten intolerant, and it was still the same delicious pizza as before. The cauliflower crust is tasty gets crispy when it's cooked and they put just enough red sauce where it's not mushy. You choose 1, 2 or all the cheeses and the same for the meats. I have concocted a pizza with white sauce, chicken and chicken sausage, Canadian bacon, roasted pineapple and spinach which was very tasty. I have also had cauliflower crust with red sauce, Canadian bacon, spinach, pepperoni, bacon, sausaGe, mozzarella and feta, toasted garlic, black olives and olive mix that's my favorite. This is the best pizza that I've had since I've lived in Texas. From El Paso to San Antonio, there just aren't enough great pizza joints. The thing I like the best about MOD is the size of their smallest pizza. It is the absolute perfect portion for me, and I can either stick with one of their pre-designed pizzas or go nuts with the toppings for a pretty reasonable amount. Service is fast and great, I've never had a problem here. The decor is nice and not overly busy. Also, they have accommodations for those sensitive for gluten. Today was the first time I have went to a MOD Pizza. I was going in not knowing how they work. They support dine-in and takeout. You can choose three sizes, small, "mod" (their way of saying medium 11"), and mega (large). I'm pretty sure mega is 13" diameter and you can choose from a few preset recipes on the menu, or you can make your own custom pizza. Shown in one of the pictures below, it shows there is a whole topping bar for pizza and salad. They charge by how big, not how many toppings you add. We got a salad and a "mod" pizza and costed us around $20. The food tasted great. For the pizza, they have a wood fire oven. The wait time was little to none. You pay after you choose a pizza or get a salad. You get you your salad at payment. The only wait time was for the pizza. It took about 5 minutes then they call your name to pick up at the front (at least for dine in). The pizza we got was the one with meat and sausage, and we customer it with a little bit of basil. Overall, I think the price is pretty good for a wood oven pizza and it tastes great. I hope to is review is helpful for someone considering this to eat. read more

I understand the concept of build your own pizza and personal pizzas but you pay the extra for the complete "walk down the line" experience. This is why customer service is so important and what was missing from this experience. The line: the toppings looked appealing and clean. The first two staff members were alright as they were prepping pizza but there was no communication between the members. I had to keep repeating that I wanted dairy-free cheese and I wanted it after the sauce but they didn't listen and I ended up getting it on top. There are so many of these types of pizza places these days. Take your pic. The pizza came out good thank God but I'll think I'll take my business down the street where I am treated like my business matters. I was really craving pizza so me and my husband decided to get take out from here. We came here around 6:00pm on a Saturday night, and there were already a couple customers in the store. They have labels on the floor to ensure social distancing and they are currently not serving shakes, floats and beer. I felt safe that everyone in the store was wearing a mask over their nose. I like how we can design our own pizza, but some toppings they had before are not available at this time. I choose half bbq sauce and half pesto sauce with the toppings I want. You can also choose what drizzle you want on your pizza after it is ready, which is awesome! Friend took me here for the first time. Couldn't believe it, it's like Subway but for pizza! Uh, YES! I'll start by saying, they had really great service and the servers looked like they really enjoy working there. They make the pizza in front of you, including the dough, and you get to pick your ingredients. I mean, they even have roasted pineapple, broccoli, and corn! This is the second MOD location we have tried. We had a little bit of a rough visit, but the customer service was good. My kids ordered a pizza with different toppings on each half. The pie came out burned black on one side so I asked them to remake it, which they did immediately. The second pizza came out black like the first. The guy cut off the burned edges and said he would make a mini cheese pizza for the burned half. The third pizza came out better than the first two and my kid was finally willing to eat it. I think their oven temp was off. My pizza was slightly burned, but then the bottom of the crust was soft and not crisp. I ate it, but it wasn't as good as I had at the other San Antonio location. My husband made the same comment when he was eating a take out pizza an hour later. The temp in the restaurant was uncomfortably cold. The AC was on high blast even though the outside temp was 50. People were eating in coats and we were freezing as we waited for three pizzas to be cooked sequentially. We had tried MOD in Milwaukee, WI and loved it. We were so excited to find out we have 2 locations in San Antonio. This location was closer so we came to see if the food was as good. The food is as good, the service is NOT. There were 2 guys preparing the pizzas and they seemed new because they took forever to put the toppings on. They had explained that you can get different toppings on 2 halves of the bigger pizza, but then they had a hard time keeping them straight. After putting in our order and paying it took about 10 minutes to get our food. They called our name and they gave us 2 pizzas, but no breadsticks. When we inquired about the breadsticks the manager VERY RUDELY told us we did not order any. We explained that we did, because we paid for them. He looked at our receipt and then again VERY RUDELY (see the pattern here) asked why we didn't tell the 2 pizza guys that we wanted breadsticks. Again, we explained we did tell them, which is why we were charged for them. He stated again VERY RUDELY that if they had known they would have prepared them. I love the way this guy blames the customer rather than just say he will get us the breadsticks that we paid for!!! If we hadn't already paid for everything we would have left. Upon eating the 2 pizzas it was obvious that when they were cut there was no attention paid to the 2 separate halves. The pizzas were amazing! Just wish they could have been cut taking the 2 halves in mind. The cheese sticks were weird because they are not covered in melty cheese, but rather hard cheese like Parmesan. So the cheese cooked rather than being soft and melted. The black berry lemonade is amazing! It's awesome that they have Boylan sodas. The cinnamon sticks are also amazing! We had to take ours back up there because they did not cut them. You have to eat them with the strawberry and chocolate sauce together. It tastes like you are eating chocolate covered strawberries. The cinnamon dip is not that good and actually clashes. They would have gotten 5 stars, even with the slow service based on how good the food was. I visited MOD pizza a few weeks ago because one of my students was having a fundraiser night there for her student organization. I got a build your own MOD size pizza with red sauce, pepperoni, bacon and minced garlic. To top my meal off I got a chocolate shake! I ate about half of the pizza and was able to save the leftovers for another meal, which is always a plus in my book when eating out. But I did drink all the shake, unashamed. I wasn't in the restaurant for a long time because I took my meal to my evening class, but the restaurant had a nice vibe, was clean and I really like the entry wall which featured pictures of people from the community. Overall, it was a solid meal for a Wednesday night, but it wasn't a spectacular, wow, blow my mind pizza. I've been to many brick fire pizza establishments, and I don't think MOD pizza did anything significant to separate itself from the others.
