King of who?? These popsicles are so good. Had them at an event. I got the vanilla biscoff...all vegan no diary! I had to pull up the website to verify. Super creamy and who doesn't like those biscoff cookies. My hubby got the chocolate. He loved it. Then they came back around and I got the coconut pineapple!

These are literally the BEST pops I've ever had! They make King of Pops taste like The Little Prince. And they are HUGE and creamy and don't melt like crazy all over your hands. So good! Go get you one ASAP!

We stopped into Mocha Pops after getting stranded in Atlanta after a flight cancellation and were SO delighted by our visit! The two women there were delightful, kind, and funny souls who explained the different pop flavors to us & gave us some awesome Atlanta restaurant recommendations. They really helped us make lemonade from our situation! We ended up getting the Cuban Wake-Up and the Italian Grapefruit pops, both of which hit the spot so much that we were tempted to risk missing our flight to double back for more flavors! The flavors are strong w/o being too sweet, and it's the only popsicle I've encountered where I can bite it off easily w/o making my teeth hurt from the cold. (I really want to know how they achieve that wonderful texture!) I wish we had this in Boston!! We will definitely make a point to return when we pass through Atlanta again.

Grapey Grape will put a smile on your face for sure!!

We were relaxing in The Broad Street Pedestrian Plaza when we all decided that something cool and sweet was in order. A Quick Yelp search and this Gem came up. A 2min walk later and we were inside talking to Keesa, aka Mrs. Mocha, as she walked us thru the plethora of coffee, fruit and dessert offerings. We decided on the Grape, Coconut Pineapple, Strawberry Short Cake & Mango Ginger...WOW! ALL were Absolutely Fabulous in there own unique way. The Refreshing taste of the Coconut Pineapple was my Favourite esp after trying the Shortcake that was more creamy (coconut cream btw) & dense with chunks of strawberries and even lil cake at the bottom! A definite must try when in the Atlanta area! A++ Keep up the Amazing work in your community Keesa & The Mocha Bars Crew! Mad Love

So, as I'm on my way to class strolling through downtown, I stumble across this ice cream shop called "Mocha Pops", and they are DELICIOUS. I tried the "Mocha Pop" first, then doubled back for the Strawberry Cheesecake one. Aside from pops being delectable, this place is also black owned, vegan, and their sweet treats are made only with the best ingredients! (From Cuban coffee, agave, fresh fruit, to chunks of cheesecake to name a few). If you're downtown and near Forsyth Street, please go try them out! Aside from their products, the service was impeccable. I will definitely be back and spreading the word!

We parked next door at the gas station and walked to the park. There was no parking fee or entrance fee. We made it there about 9 and there were about 5 vendors and many tables to sit and enjoy your food. There was also music playing. Slutty vegan seemed to be the only vendor with a line. When I'm talking line, I'm talking L-I-N-E!!!! As we were waiting, we ended up getting a spiked lemonade from one of the vendors and it wasn't spiked much. I finally made it out to the Atlanta Food Truck Park last night despite living just around the…read morecorner. I had a great time and am really glad to see this place open in my neighborhood. Atlanta is better off for having food trucks (and this park, specifically). Despite the cloudy, on-and-off drizzly weather, the park had a good turnout of patrons between 7-9pm on a Thursday night. Thanks to those who braved the elements for our UYE (http://www.yelp.com/events/atlanta-atlanta-food-truck-park-uye). The food truck/food stand lineup was pretty good: Sweet Auburn BBQ Corn-a-Cue One Love Jerk Grill Metro City Dogs Lemonade Stand WOW! Food Truck Ibiza Bites Chay J's New Orleans Candies Rouxd Food Truck King of Pops Yum Yum Cupcake Verizon also had a stand. I've been following the park's official calendar (http://www.atlantafoodtruckpark.com/calendar/) over the past month and noticed Thursday nights are the ideal weeknight (excluding Fridays) to go for the most trucks and the best selection. I suspect there might have been more trucks last night if it wasn't for the weather. I ended up trying a little bit of everything: Arepas (Venezuelan sliders) from WOW! Food Truck Beef brisket with Asian pear slaw taco from Sweet Auburn BBQ Goat cheese-stuffed fried green tomatoes from Ibiza Bites Creole pretzels and Creole popcorn from Chay J's I'll be posting reviews for each of those trucks in the next few days. If you come for dinner, I recommend coming on the early side as the food trucks only have a limited supply of items and do sell out. This leads some trucks to close early. I saw many menus with marked off items that had sold out for the day. Yum Yum Cupcakes shut down early because they sold out of their cupcakes for the day. I was pleasantly surprised to see how much seating the park had. I counted 16 large picnic tables in the main "dining" area, most with umbrellas. Each picnic table can seat up to about 8 people each. The picnic tables are located on a flat, paved surface. The food trucks are located in a large gravel lot. This lot has 4 communal standing tables and 2 additional picnic tables. So overall, this spot has quite a bit of seating, which is convenient. Also, plenty of trash cans and recycling bins to keep the grounds looking relatively clean. The park is family and dog-friendly. It can be a little loud because you're around all these big trucks and next to busy Howell Mill Rd. You can BYOB, so save money by bringing your own drinks. If you want water, I saw some trucks selling it for $1 per bottle. There is one restroom and it's a "Johnny on the Spot" porta-potty in the parking lot with portable sink outside so you can wash your hands. There is ample free parking behind the park. Turn onto Emery St, next to the Shell Station on Howell Mill, to find it. If you need more detailed directions, check out the park's FAQ here: http://www.atlantafoodtruckpark.com/faqs/. The parking lot is old and filled with pot holes, so drive carefully. I saw someone puncture their car's tire by running over a broken-off metal sign post on the ground (she was trying to make too tight of a turn around the dining area). Note that every Wednesday and Friday night throughout the summer, the park will be playing movies for free. Also, from time to time, there is live music. On the weekends, there's a food market with rotating vendors and an artists market coming soon. Overall, I'm very happy with the Atlanta Food Truck Park and definitely plan on returning.

(#publictransportation, ahem!) Since the 1970's, The Inman Park Festival is something of an Atlanta tradition. There's a tour of homes, a 5k run, a parade, and (of course) a big street market featuring all sorts of colorful, local arts and crafts, beauty & skin care, foods and spices, home accessories, woodworking and ceramics... This year, I picked up a few items to gift to my friends. There are hosts of things to try and do, including activities for kids, and a really cool Dance Festival where you'll see stellar dance expositions from Atlanta's best dance companies. The food scene is pretty much what you'd expect. All the standard offerings from frozen lemonade to corn dogs, funnel cakes to pretzels, all the "regulars" are there. Sometimes I wonder if there will ever be a way to make the street-fair food scene innovative and not just regular. Still, this is among Atlanta's best run, and well-organized Festivals. See you there next year.

Plan to spend at least $8 for lunch. My usual go to trucks are Mix'd Burgers, Seven Seas and Gekko isn't too bad either. What I like: Mix'd Up: Rockin Hero burger with extra Tzatziki sauce. (Lamb burger) $8.00. Mix'd Up : Sante Fe burger. Which is a black bean burger for the Veg heads or if you just love black beans like I do. $7 or $8....cant remember. We arrived today just after 11, and the line for Yumbii was reasonable and there were almost no lines at the other food trucks. Last week, we arrived after 11:30 and the lines were miserably long - at least 30-40 minutes for Sweet Auburn BBQ just to place an order, and then maybe another 10-15 minutes for the food. Honestly, the food wasn't worth the wait. I guess there's this expectation that street food is supposed to be unique - something I can't find at the everyday restaurant. And isn't street food supposed to be cheap - like average $5. But I still made the decision to try Sweet Auburn BBQ b/c I was so drawn to the smell of smoking meat. And maybe psychologically I was drawn b/c it had the 2nd longest line so maybe the food is really good. I got the $8 plate which included choice of meat, side, and Texas Toast - I decided on the beef brisket (ok) and the jicama & Asian pear slaw (good). Texas Toast was more like Texas bread - thick but not toasted, and plain w/ no garlic butter :( I tried my friend's salad w/ BBQ chicken - pretty good but nothing special either. If you're looking for a more authentic street food experience, your time might be better spent waiting in line for the other food trucks. So today, I finally had my first Yumbii - and it will not be my last :) My favorite was the sesame fries esp. the chipotle ketchup. The fries are dusted w/ salt & chili flakes, and you can taste a hint of the sesame oil - it really works! Fries are $3 and the portion is enough for 2 ppl. Yumbii tacos are $2 and $3. I had 2 tacos which was plenty - they are deceivingly filling! I enjoyed the fish taco ($3) which was surprisingly 1 big piece of fish (vs. the usual 2-3 tiny pieces you get at other places). I wasn't a fan of the spicy pulled pork taco ($2) - it was spicier than expected and dripping with oil :( And like week #1, we got a King of Pops to enjoy on our walk back to work. I tried the Mojito this time which was nice & refreshing - my only complaint is that all the herbs sank to the bottom of the popsicle which probably can't be helped. I'll just have to come up with a more creative way of solving that problem :) Overall I'm still giving 5 stars b/c I'm a huge fan of street food.

This is the sixth year of the…read moreannual festival, which has recently been held in Atlantic Station (second year in Atlantic Station I believe) and Turner Field before that. The festival is organized by the Atlanta BBQ Club and is an officially sanctioned event of the Kansas City BBQ Society. General admission tickets were $6 in advance and $10 at the door. When you check-in, you're given a wristband which allows you access to the grounds. The festival is held in the special events area in Atlantic Station. This is the big, open, outdoor area behind the retail district where other festivals and Cirque du Soleil are held. You can see it from the highway. The best place to park is Atlantic Station's parking garage where the first two hours are free. I enjoyed myself at the festival, but I also knew what to expect after reading reviews about the 2013 festival. Unlike an event such as Taste of Atlanta, where tickets gain you both admission to the event *and* food samples, the Atlanta BBQ Festival's tickets do not include any food. The food must be purchased separately. There were over 60 tents set up. The BBQ tents were either designated with a blue flag (BBQ competitor) or red flag (BBQ vendor). Most of the tents were competitors. When I went (Friday evening), the competitors had no food samples. The program said competitors would offer $2 wings on Friday and $1 pulled pork samples on Saturday. Since the competitors weren't offering any samples, we were left trying the vendors' food. I don't think the vendors were actually competing in the festival. They were just there to sell food. Vendors present included Bone Lick, Hottie Hawg's, Five Star, Pit Boss, JD's, Jim 'N Nick's, Sonny's, and Williamson Bros. I'm a fan of some of these restaurants (e.g. Bone Lick and Williamson Bros.), but some of metro Atlanta's best were noticeably absent. These included Heirloom Market, Fox Bros, Community Q, Dave Poe's, and Sam's BBQ 1. In a sense, our experience was like paying to get access to a food truck park to buy food from the food trucks. There were a handful of promotional tents handing out free stuff. The best one was the Keurig tent. They were giving away free iced beverages from iced coffee to acai berry juice. These were the perfect refreshments for a hot summer day. It was very easy to get filled up here because the vendors were offering not only samples, but full-sized portions as well. As a result, I only got to try a couple different vendors: Hottie Hawg's and Jim 'N Nicks. Here's a quick rundown of what I tried: Hottie Hawg's: St. Louis ribs Kashmir Kurry wings Corn on the cob Coca-Cola collards Jim 'N Nick's: Two bone spare ribs Half ear of corn Sweet pickles Pork 'n grits The BBQ was great. I liked both the ribs from Hottie Hawg's and the ribs from Jim 'N Nicks. I'd been to Jim 'N Nicks before, but not Hottie Hawg's. After trying the BBQ from Hottie Hawg's, I want to go check out their main restaurant now. The ribs ($2 for two) from Hottie Hawg's were thick and moist. The sauce was delicious. The Kashmir Kurry wings ($1 each) were sweet and very spicy. My mouth was on fire and I actually shed a tear from the heat those wings brought. The corn on the cob had a little kick to it as well, thanks to a dusting of cayenne pepper. The Coca-Cola collards were tasty, though I'm not sure I could really taste the Coke flavor in them. The Jim 'N Nick's ribs were comparatively tougher/leaner, but still tender and flavorful. They were satisfying as was the half ear of corn. The tart and sweet pickles were a nice contrast to all the savory, meaty flavors. It was $6 for the whole set. The pork 'n grits ($4) were very good. This small tray consisted of pulled BBQ pork over buttery grits. The BBQ sauce from the pork oozed into the grits. Credit cards were accepted at some of the vendors such as Jim 'N Nicks. However, competitor tents were cash only. Aside from the BBQ and promotional tents, there was a main tent for dining. Near this tent was the music stage (live music throughout the festival), cooking stage (cooking demonstrations), and kids' area/playground. There is free water at the event, but it amounts to two containers on a table with a stack of small plastic cups. One of the containers dispensed unpleasantly warm/hot water. Restrooms were porta-potties. As a general admission festival goer, I'm not sure I would return to the Atlanta BBQ Festival. I would rather just go to one of the vendors' actual restaurants and have a nice sit-down meal inside. If you've never been to the festival and like BBQ, it's worth checking out once. Plus, it's hard to resist the mouthwatering smell of all that smoky BBQ as it wafts its way through Atlantic Station!
