Ten storytellers have 5 minutes on stage to address the topic of the evening. Tonight's topic was "Revenge" with many inspirational stories referencing ultimately "choosing peace". The highlight of the show was getting to see local comedian, Mack Dryden, perform his unique wry schtick in unparalleled storytelling style. He brought down the house with his saga of battling squirrels while living in California. The venue has a small parking lot in front of the building, a larger parking area next to the property, and large amounts of free on street parking along Lexington Road and the surrounding side streets. Doors opened and lines moved quickly through security for bag checks, ticket scanning, and locating a seat. There were rows of folding chairs in front of the stage as well as 2 to 4 seat small pub tables placed along the walls. There is also an overhead balcony viewing area with tables and chairs. We did notice an odor in the building that was a bit offputting at first and then I suppose we eventually became nose-blind. It was a hint of a musty, urine, spilled beer, dive bar mix. We also exited the building around 10:30 PM following the show and were slammed with the familiar Butchertown pig slaughterhouse odor and almost ran to our cars to make our escape. Restroom was large, clean, and fully stocked. Large bar area near the back of the room. Easily able to see the stage from any vantage point in the large space. Audio was fine. Would love to return here for future events, including The Moth.

This place was also down the block from our Airbnb so we could walk there. They had a lot of boozy coffee drinks and I really like that. I decided to try their Espresso Martini. This was our last bar stop prior to going out to dinner with friends. My drink had a house made espresso, Absolut vodka, Borghetti (coffee liqueur), a rich simple syrup, and coffee beans. My drink was rich and delicious and I absolutely loved their espresso. I do not recall what drinks my friends ordered. By the time we were leaving there was plenty of people in the place and appeared there was some sort of event gathering. We will have to come back here and with all the coffee drinks they had this may well be the place to start our day next time.

Since this is a relatively new venue, there were some kinks. Going in, we didn't have tickets so we went to the counter to purchase. There really wasn't any direction at the door so we kind of just wandered in. We found where we could purchase tickets for the show but with the lack of direction - we could have just walked in without paying. There are multiple restrooms and they were extremely clean, even later in the night. There is a raised section with some seating. Plenty of dance space. There is also a bar with both cocktails and draft beer (mostly Upland Brewing offerings). Prices weren't bad and the line moved pretty quickly. The venue holds a pretty decent amount of people and I look forward to seeing more shows there. Not going to lie, I already have tickets to see O-Town ($20 tickets - I was NOT going to pass this up!)

When we visited it was around Halloween, so they had some holiday decor. I ordered two drinks, a vodka pineapple and a martini that was on an old menu I found online. The bartender didn't know how to make it as she was newer, but she found a recipe for it. I appreciated her looking it up! Old Forester's Paristown Hall is my favorite place to catch a show in the city right now…read more Established only recently in 2019, I love how much the name (even with a brand sponsorship in it) sounds like an Established 1819 sort of place. It's a modern take on the standing-room-only "Big Rock Show" venue, with well stocked bars on either side of the stage and a cool balcony above (often reserved for VIP standing or sitting, and with its own bar and bathrooms). One of the twists to the venue that is in my understanding still greatly under appreciated is that the Louisville Orchestra collaborated in building Paristown Hall. The stage can fit the whole orchestra, the acoustics are good enough to showcase that, and the A/V system is deep enough capture most of it. How many orchestras in this country have a venue that they can regularly play that gives off "Big Rock Show" energy? Paristown Hall is also the reason that Louisville had one of the few active, working orchestras (and paid salaries to them!) in the country in the early 2020s. (Those live streams meant a lot to me as a fan of live music in those years.) I try to buy any Paristown Hall ticket that sounds even of passing interest. I especially buy a ticket for every Louisville Orchestra show at Paristown Hall before even reading the description, because any show our Orchestra thinks needs to be at Paristown Hall is a show I don't want to miss. (Absolutely my recommendation to everyone: if the Louisville Orchestra is playing at Paristown Hall it will be a treat and you should buy tickets.)

It started by showing my ID to get a wristband, then scanning my ticket and going through security. I enjoyed the concert I went to - the venue was loud, lighting was good, and there was some outdoor space (with a second place to order drinks.) Close to the stage, people were dancing, moshing, and having a great time. In the back, there was room to enjoy with a little more space. My one gripe, I KNOW that alcoholic drinks at all concerts and venues will be overpriced but the only option for water was an $8 can. Just be aware if you plan to hydrate!

Watch for the $25 show promos that happen once or twice per year. - Friendly staff! - Access to snacks and beverages upstairs and downstairs. - Upstairs accessible by stairs or elevator - Coat check available. The cons - (not their fault, no stars taken) - I struggle to find a selection of great meal options pre-show right now in this theater district part of downtown. Shout-out to the pizza guys down the street for filling my belly pre-show, you're real ones!

Dream loud for the dreams of what once was can be achieved yet again! Here we stand in someone's dream. The bartender took her dream and turned it upside and over for us to see live entertainment. The energy in this little space is captivating. The place is so small but the owner has chosen to create a world where you can drink and watch live entertainment. Did I mention drink? They have a range of options and spirits ! The ambiance is amazing here. We come just because. You can play pinball and make sure and stay for the live shows. These vary. I choose to roll with it. I am here regularly for trivia on Tuesday nights, and fairly regularly for Gore Club on Sunday nights. I have performed here as part of a variety troupe. And I attend other events like karaoke and comedy shows and what not. I spend a lot of my free time and money here and don't foresee that changing anytime soon. I enjoy the activities I participate in here, I enjoy most of the people I encounter here, the staff are great and I have a good time when I am here. Lots of parking, bathrooms are generally clean. I dig it here and intend to keep returning and giving them more of my money.
