Caveat emptor. Like others have mentioned, the woman at the desk is quite rude and has no idea what constitutes a contract in NJ. The man I dropped the mower off with was very nice and I told him that it needed a seasonal tune-up, but given its age, if it was going to be over $100 (even a single dollar more )that I needed to give approval as I might rather spend the money on a new mower. The guy told me it actually would come out to $100 (parts + labor) and likely a plastic piece for a couple bucks, but agreed to call for anything more that $100. Of course - like others have said - when I went to pick it up in the woman at the desk had a different number and refused with a bunch of mealymouthed wishy-washy speech to own up to the fact that we had an agreement in place. The other guy was there so I talked to him and he admitted that he made this agreement with me and she would still not own up to it. So people need to be very careful when dealing with this place - and specifically with this woman - and have them write down every single little detail that they are agreeing to and if they won't go somewhere else because any businesses that won't write down their agreements you know something's fishy. But still, know that in New Jersey oral contracts can be binding and enforceable so you should also look into that if they try to screw you over. (Though if it was made with that woman good luck getting her to admit it). As to the work itself -- I'm no expert so I have no way to tell (other than broad terms like "does it turn on or make horrible noises") but since they're so dishonest I can't be sure they're doing the work like they should, i.e., the quality, not actuality, of the work and parts. read more

Our experience with Mobile Lawnmower Service was extremely positive. For the following reasons: 1. They came and picked up our lawn device 2. They diagnosed, for a very reasonable price, what the problem was 3. They told us that we might be better off buying a new device, that the repair would come close to what a new (entry-level, in our case) device would be 4. They gave us time to think it over and were very patient that we were indecisive, this being a several-hundred-dollar decision 5. We decided to have them repair the device and we were happy with the final price, which included very reasonable pickup and delivery fees, and a diagnostic fee 6. They told us in detail how to avoid this problem happening in the future. A lawn (and snow) service that will pick up and deliver. How can you beat that? Recommended. My experience with Mobile Lawnmower Service restored my faith in local businesses. I was once a staunch supporter/patronizer of small businesses, forgoing corporate department stores, hardware stores and pharmacies. However, I went back on this for two reasons: the service was usually no better, and inconvenient opening hours. It was only slightly due to $avings, because I think most people are far too focused on this and that is why main streets are littered with empty storefronts. Mobile Lawnmower Service is exceptional. read more

If I could give a negative number below zero , I would!! Terrible Customer Service!! Let me explain. Mobile Lawn Mower of Berkeley Heights, NJ picked up my riding lawnmower after I could not start the tractor. A few days later, I was told the lawnmower was ready for drop off and I was charged approximately $150.00. I was told the fuel was bad and had to be dumped and the carburetor needed cleaning. The actual receipt showed they had tuned the carburetor looked at the wiring and drained the gas tank of fuel with pick up and delivery charges. After delivery, I found the riding lawnmower would not start. Only after cranking the riding lawnmower battery several times, the engine finally started with the engine revving up to very high speeds. I turned off the tractor and contacted Jose' at Mobile Lawnmower. He said that the riding lawnmower is a lemon, he could not help me and that the tractor was too old for him to work on it. Jose and Mobile Lawnmower is sure as hell quick to process my credit card for work that was not completed. Now I got a bill with poor workmanship performed. I am sorry I went to this place! They have lost a customer. read more

We have been using the services here for almost as long as we lived in the area (20 years). Never had a problem, with sales, services, or supplies (do my own maintenance on my equipment). They really know the equipment they stock and service so no need for us to go anywhere else. Are they perfect? No, but close enough for our needs. I was surprised to read reviews about poor customer service, since that was never my experience. Also, I might point out that as a woman, I have never had someone "mansplain" things to me, which I cannot say for most businesses. read more

Great service for your lawn and snow blower needs. I shopped and bought a snow blower here. They know their business and guided me to the right purchase. They are always available to answer questions. read more

This is the 2nd time in 4 yrs I've used this shop for scheduled lawn mower service. Both times I've never received anything that resembles customer service. The first time I was quoted a price over the phone and when I picked up the mower they added an extra $50 for "things we found wrong." The 2nd time I scheduled routine service (oil change, spark plug, blades sharpened, underside cleaning - BASIC SERVICE!) and to have the zone control cable replaced. $84 quoted. When I received the mower, there was a new spark plug, filter and cable, but the blades were left unsharpened and the mower wasn't cleaned. When questioned, the service tech said blade sharpening was $68 extra and "the mower had oil, so we didn't change it." Is this business aware of the power of reputation in our digital age? My only guess is that it has a solid base of commercial clients to keep it afloat. The woman manning the counter/phone is not the least bit helpful nor accurate in her estimates. This place is a joke. read more

I had a negative experience with Mobile Lawnmowers. As another reviewer described, the woman at the counter seemed to lack manners. I will go elsewhere in the future. read more

Terrible customer service for lawnmower repair. I am not sure about their technical ability since I had to bring it over three times for the same issue. It is still in the shop. read more
