I stopped into the Road Ranger on Shirland Avenue, South Beloit, IL today and was met with the most…read moreincompetent, appalling lack of customer service that I have ever experienced. When I pulled in to fill up my truck, I caught a glimpse of a sign near the pumps that said: "$0.69 cup of coffee with a fill-up!" Since all the pumps are pre-pay, I swiped my credit card and began pumping the fuel. I walked into the store to get a cup of coffee. I asked the cashier about the details of the offer. She stated that the offer was for a 16 oz or 20 oz drink with a fill-up. I then went to the self-serve coffee bar and selected a 20 oz cup and filled it with coffee. When I returned to the register, the attendant was conversing loudly (while eating her Cheetos and dip from a hot dog tray) with two other employees about 15' away. She was asking what 4-digit code was required to ring up my sale. Then she noticed my cup and said rudely "That is a 20 oz cup and the special is for a 16 oz cup." I reminded her that only moments ago, she was the one who informed me of the special offer and quoted the drink sizes. She then clarified that the 20 oz was for a fountain drink and not coffee. I expressed my frustration and she said I would have to return to the coffee bar and obtain a 16 oz cup and pour my coffee into THAT cup to qualify for the $0.69 cent offer. (Yes, I, too was bewildered at this ridiculous statement and request of me, the customer). I then did as she had requested after telling her how foolish this "procedure" was. Upon returning to the register and now having to wait in line behind 2 other customers, the same cashier then said "Which pump did you use to fill up?" I pointed to my vehicle since I was unfamiliar with the pump numbering system. She then said, "This is REALLY going to make you mad.....You have to go out there and hang up the pump so I can see how much fuel you got." Are you kidding me? Are these the type of people that are hired at Road Ranger to interact with paying customers? Meanwhile, the other two employees (one of whom I assume was a manager) stayed about 15 feet away, behind the wall and never tried to rectify the situation. I can not believe the level of complete ineptness, incompetence, rudeness and foolishness that I was met with today while attempting to buy a cup of coffee!

The second shift crew at this location is amazing. They always remember my cigs and are friendly,…read moreupbeat, and helpful. However the woman who works first shift with glasses is as rude as they come. Could care less about customers and treats you this way. Many of the other cashiers are ghetto and are just there for the paycheck. The outside is always a mess, pumps dirty and use nasty brown water in the washer fluid buckets. I've been going here for 12 years almost daily and will only go after 3pm because that is when this store is running best.

The gal that works the morning shift (around 6-730am weekdays she's always there....wears thick…read morelipstick and has curly dark hair) is ALWAYS on her cell phone, the coffee and cappacino machines are RARELY on and or working. If you have to ask her a question, in regards to the coffee, she gets irritated and says "sorry" and does NOTHING to remedy the situation. This hasn't happened just once, its every day. LIKE TODAY no coffee and i even said something and she literally ignored me. literally Please hire someone new or retrain her and ban cellphones because she is more concerned about who she is talking to on her phone rather than the customer

Well, I'm underwhelmed at this station. Gas prices might be in line with those stations nearer to…read morethe Interstate but, there are 2 other stations (Casey's and Blackhawk) closer to this location - they consistently beat the gas prices by as much as 8 - 10¢ per gallon. Can't say there is any change inside as I have ignored this place because of a rude attendant. Now that it is reopened or changed affiliation, I should probably give it another shot but, my motivation to do so will elevate when I see the gas prices are comparable to the other previously mentioned stations. This 2 star rating pertains more to their corner location, a co-existing small McD operation, ease of access and an on-site basic car wash which are pulses while higher gas prices are a huge negative.

The Kwik Star near Beloit changed their coffee cups to a thinner, more collapsable material. The lid kept popping off and scalding coffee spilled all over me. Other than this terrible experience I love Kwik Trip/Kwik Star and I love their coffee.

But I drove to Beloit because the gas at Gene's was $4.80!!! It's $5.50 or more around Roscoe/Rockford, IL. The pumps are older, as is the whole facility, old-fashioned, genuinely quaint. You can't use your credit card in the pump. And they do prefer cash. Go to Gene's. Keep this small town, family business going. And enjoy filling your tank, even though the prices are still awful. At Gene's they are less awful.
