Thankfully, my worries were unfounded, as the guys at Bridgestone Select were really great. I arrived just before their 5.30pm closing time and the guy stayed open for an extra half hour just to change my battery, which was so lovely of him. He was really friendly and changed it quickly and efficiently and charged me a fair price, explaining stuff the whole way. I liked it so much that I've booked my WOF in there next week too.

We'll get the reminder note in the mail to say one of our vehicles is due for a service and it is that kind of special attention that keeps us coming back. Their office lady is super friendly too. Recently searching for a first car for the newest driver in our family, Ward pointed us in the right direction and we ended up making an excellent purchase thanks to the insider advice. Auto repairs can be an expensive undertaking so I am glad to be a customer of this great little auto repair shop.

I have an old classic car as well as a Hilux and a new Corolla and when I moved to the area a few years ago I was recommended I go to Ward for my vehicle servicing and repair. Ward does my servicing, mechanical work and WOF's on all my cars and he is such a genuine honest mechanic. He has been in the business for donkeys' years, so he really knows his stuff, and nothing is a problem. He is hands down the most honest, thorough, and trustworthy mechanic I've ever been to, and I know my cars are in safe hands with Ward. His no BS thorough job saves me time and money in the long run, and I can trust everything he says. Having Ward in the same suburb I live in is awesome but even if he was 50Kms away I'd make the journey because I know he will respect and look after my pride and joy and treat it as if he owns it - this alone is a massive weight off my mind when I drop the keys off. The job is always done to an exacting standard, within budget and specified timings. If there ever is anything else required (and there always is on a classic car) Ward calls me before he starts the work with options as well as updated costs and timings. I cannot recommend Glen Eden Auto Services strongly enough, especially if you have a classic car or in fact any car which you want to take somewhere that is honest, will not rip you off and gives you peace of mind with a no-nonsense quality job. The art of good old fashioned customer service is not lost on Ward either, Ward and his receptionist are some of the friendliest and most accommodating people I have had the pleasure to deal with from any industry, not just automotive. 5 stars all the way and highly recommended!

Pity the aging pumps are not as fast and productive as their newer counter parts, but it is only petrol after all. Staff are mainly friendly and always willing to help out when necessary. The shop is well stocked considering it's small size, so only has the real basics. Also has a car wash which often gets busy at the weekend.

No kidding though... we drove past the Mobil in…read moreAvondale after a visit to the New Lynn night market last Thursday evening and our jaws dropped: their fuel price for the regular ol' 91 octane was sitting at $1.97 a litre. Not only has it been ages since we've seen prices drop below the elusive $2 mark, but it was nearly twenty cents cheaper than some of the gas stations around town! This particular Mobil branch actually has two forecourts (to meet their increasing demand perhaps): the main one off Great North Road and another that you can enter via West Coast Road. Even at 9pm the place was still pretty busy but the line moved quickly so we were in and out within about 15 minutes. It's probably not worth driving out of your way all the way to Avondale (especially if you live on the Shore like me) to save money on petrol but if you're driving nearby and with fuel prices this competitive, it sure doesn't hurt to stop by and fill up your tank.

The car I bought a couple of months ago needed its first WoF under my ownership last week, and…read moreafter hearing good things, I booked it in at Auto Services on Thursday morning. They're a little hard to find, down tiny Eden Street in Newmarket, next to the Carbon Garage. My first (niggling) complaint is that when my car had issues they needed to inform me of, they didn't phone me, they texted me. I didn't hear it, and so my car was sat there for a couple of hours longer than it needed to. It failed the WoF, unfortunately, due to rust and a couple of mechanical things. After getting the rust seen to, we brought it back late Friday afternoon, and it was ready to go Saturday morning. I was very impressed with the turnaround time, as I know they had to order parts to get it done. The cost was maybe a little expensive - as it was my first WoF in NZ, I have nothing to compare it to, but Newmarket tends to be more expensive than other areas in my experience. The WoF itself was $48, the repairs a couple of hundred on top of that. I'll definitely take it back there for future WoFs, because it's within walking distance of my home, and everyone working there that I dealt with was very friendly and helpful, happy to show us the rust, explain the mechanical problems, give us price quotes on what needed to be done and get it done when we needed it.

We were looking for a mechanic that women can trust not to get swindled while getting a fair price in a handy location. RNT Motors really ticked all of the boxes for us. Its not super glamorous and there English isn't great but they are respectful, honest, and get the job done which is all that really matters!

Lucky for them they…read morehave changed owners as well as staff and the last time I went there to get something fixed up on my car, I received fantastic service at a really good price. I didn't feel they took advantage of my lack of mechanical knowledge, and they did the job in record time too, and I've never had a problem with that part since, which is helpful. The staff is really nice and when I told them about my last experience, they were mortified. Happily go back there for my next repair job.
