There is renewed hope for the new owners though. They seem to have a good hold on a new business model by revamping the interior and hiring great workers. When I walked in today, I was pleasantly surprised to see the aesthetic changes, as well as the superb customer relations they are obviously working hard at fomenting in a positive way, of course! The merchandise was well distributed and stocked, the aisles and cold sections were impeccable. They have a phenomenal cafe, providing hot food, an ATM machine, a $2.99 car wash with a minimum of $20 fuel purchase, and many other offerings usually found in much larger stations. I come here on a "need" basis when in the area, but after my experience today, I know this will be a fueling station by "choice" from this day forward! Also, this gas station has a tire and repair shop, which is pretty convenient if you need that sort of service. It is a small gas station with just four pumps (8 places to gas total) and there is virtually no parking. Parking which has to be shared with the repair shop. There is also a tiny convenience store. This is a place you end up at out of necessity, not by choice.

It's cramped when the lot is full of cars, but with some coordinating, you just pull up and they will look at your car right away. The mechanics are upfront when they talk to you, but you don't feel swindled. I told them that there was a nail in my tire and air was leaking, but they said they didn't see anything. Just persist and they put my car on a jack and removed my tire. Sure enough, they removed the nail and patched my tires...even the one that was "unsalvageable". Paid $30 + tip. Good service for quick fixes!

As you read this, I'm probably still at the pump. I have never seen a pump run this slow. Someone once told me that the only way a gas pump can run slow is if the filters have not been cleaned. I don't know if this is true, and I suppose I could Google it to find out, but I have better things to Google at the moment; like how long is a good time to bake a fruitcake? So, I'm just going to assume that he might have been right and their filters are filthy. Or, it might be something else, but whatever it is, they have the power to correct it and they don't. So they get two stars. I doubt that I'll give them another chance, so they just lost a potential customer. Bad move, Mobil.

The store would be considered ultra modern and very appealing to the eye and offer the common quick snacks, beer and coffee. There are numerous gas pumps and the grounds are clean of debris. A drive through car wash is available. The current fuel price of $3.19 a gallon is competitive. The oversized American flag flying high at the front of the station was a nice respectful touch.

I also remember the loooong lines during Hurricane Wilma, late October of '05. They had a little auto repair shop back then. For whatever reason, this station has changed along with its owners a few times and it only gets better. Recently it has become a Chevron. They have ten (10) fully functional pumps, including Diesel, and a small convenience store that offers a variety of products and a breakfast/coffee station. They keep the gender neutral bathroom neat, and the pumps have windshield wash buckets filled with clean water and receipt rolls in their printers. There's nothing that irks me more at a gas station than to have to go inside for a receipt! Moreover, they provide two air stations: One on the south entrance (77th Street) and the other vacuum/air on the entrance from Pine Island. Most importantly, the prices are competitive with other gas stations within a five mile radius. In fact, I filled up a couple of days ago at $2.13, which was $.02/gal. cheaper than the rest. Juan, the regular afternoon/evening attendant, is cordial and I really like how he keeps his uniform clean-cut and professional. If it wasn't because they're lagging in updating their business name and information, along with providing a working phone number--even the number off the Chevron website (9547260627) is a non-working number, this business would be flawless.
