They offer fantastic tuition on the most wonderful horses in the most beautiful setting. They offer lessons for a wide range on disciplines and the instructors are friendly and very encouraging - my riding has improved massively and confidence has grown so much since I've been riding there and I travel regularly from London to get my riding fix. They have amazing hacking on their doorstep and I have enjoyed many fun rides and xc course hires on their incredibly reliable well schooled horses who are a joy to ride. The yard staff are helpful and accommodating. If you're thinking of booking do it! You won't be disappointed and I recommend them to everyone I know. I will be a customer for life

My husband rode horses during his boarding school days and was eager to ride again. But the rest of the family didn't have any previous experience but the staff was quite patient and gave us basic instructions on how to steer the horse and ride slowly through the countryside. We had 1:1 guide with us the entire time. The only thing I was surprised about was them tagging on another 8.5 pounds for an assessment. Wasn't sure what's there to assess since we were all beginners. The staff explained that it was to match us with the "right" horse. Anyway, other than that, overall, it was a pleasant experience and if you're into horses and want to see the countryside, this is a great way to do it.

The owner Bonnie can be strict at times but its just to get you to be the best you can be and it is also for yours and the horses safety. Its a great experience and i love to go every sunday. Its great for begginers and experienced riders both! The price is good and i find that at the end of every lesson i have a smile on my face:) People might think that the horses are 'plodders' as i have read on one previous comment but thats harsh as they are well looked after and are happy and friendly, and it all depends on how well you get them up together in the ride. I would highly recommend this stables for anyone, because it has helped me progress through the years and become a better horsewoman. Bonnie and Jordan are very friendly despite what people may say and i have had goods rides with them both. Every week i find myself learning something new and interesting. I never get tired of the lessons because i love horses so much and practise makes perfect. My favourite things to do in the lessons are: -jumping -bareback -canters -no stirrups and i like to ask bonnie to have hard rides as i like a challenge I love this stables and ive made lots of friends, horses included, if people dont like it here then thats there choice but i wouldnt go to any others stables. Pat took our booking, Sally gathered our stats (weight, height, ability, etc) and ensured our wearing of proper gear. Dawn was our guide. The four assigned horses: Mr. Diddles, Max, Springy, and Nibbles (we think...), were perfectly matched. What a glorious adventure. There were many others that ensured our safety and horse riding pleasure. The ride took us through a Cotswold village, fun for us visitors. If only we'd had more time!!! Thank you all, Durham Farms!

Ok so this isn't in Cardiff but its pretty near and something I think everyone should do…read more Despite the fact that I got thrown of my horse onto the ground, this is one of the best riding experiences I have had. Just for the record being thrown happened because something spooked my horse. All of their horses are really well trained and you get a horse suited to your ability and size. So basically the ride involves wading through the river, walking through the sand dunes (canter if your experienced) and then you get to go onto the beach right up to the sea front if your horse is in the mood. I've ridden before and loved being able to have a gallop on the beach. Instructors stay with more nervous or less experienced riders, but still offer advice if our out of practice and need a few pointers. The views are stunning and you just know these are well looked after horses and are having as much fun as you are. 2 Hours costs £35 which is a bargain.

However I had a nasty accident and landed on my neck whilst on our trampoline. I rang that morning to cancel and apologise as I had to go to the hospital. Angela was blunt, rude and I ended up emotionally upset when the phone was put down. She told me I was not welcome to ride at their stables again which I have been doing so for the past 5 years (every time for my birthday). I feel I gave them sufficient notice so that the horses wouldn't have been tacked up ready for us and its not like we just didn't turn up. I am appauled by the lack of customer service or compassion. I will not be attending here again.

For those living in Whitchurch or the surrounding areas, this is a well-located riding stables…read morewhere you can have group lessons with well-qualified, BHS approved instructors in a lovely rural setting. It's situated on a lane just off the busy A37, near Whitehall Garden Centre, so it's right on the edge of Bristol in a beautiful, tranquil area of greenbelt - the perfect location for riding. The horses are well-cared for, and aren't over-used for lessons - they don't work long hours, and it shows - they're responsive, friendly and relaxed. The staff are equally friendly, and the whole stables is well-maintained, and although the outdoor school is a bit on the small side (20x40 metres) it's still big enough for a decent course of jumps and caters well for the reasonably small group sizes they usually include in lessons. Private lessons are also available, as are hacks out on the pretty lanes around the stables. If you own a horse or pony, they also provide good private (and well-ventilated) stabling, tack room facilities and quality grazing, on part / full working livery.

Horses are well looked after and it was lovely to be allowed to go on the walk with my granddaughter and follow them around. The horses all live out and there are lots of fields that we used to ride in, I believe Stevie recently acquired more fields as well. the fact is that many people who can not afford to pay the prices of the more expensive local riding schools have the opportunity to learn to ride and to learn about horses at Stevie's. I know that my parents would not have been able to pay for lessons at other stables and so I would have missed out on what was, and still is, a massive part if my life. I have since ridden at many other stables and have found that quite often they are aloof places with little of the community feel that Stevie's has. I always loved it there and loved spending my weekends helping out at the yard just as loads if local children still do. There is such a snobbiness in the horse world: the ponies are shaggy here and the place looks a little unkempt but what the heck? They still have many of the same ponies that I used to ride being loved by a new generation of children: Midge, Showdoo, Topic. For these ponies to still be in good health and getting a lot of love and affection is wonderful to know. I can't comment on the qualifications of the instructors but will add that lessons are really going out hacking around the field with someone leading beginner riders, and there is no ménage or real school to learn traditional lessons so if you're looking for 'real' training perhaps this isn't the place for you! If you just want to learn enough to enjoy hacking in the countryside, or already know how to ride and fancy a hack instead of riding in a school then it's great for that. I improved my own riding at various other stablest along the way but got my basics at Stevie's! If I lived locally still, I would definitely still ride here.
