We came for lunch the next day and it was more manageable. We bucked up and dove in. We learned that the drill is to find a table or bar space and order drinks, then peruse the tapa offerings along the bar. You pay when you've ordered the items you want. When you want more, you return to the bar, get more and pay. Tables are precious, but they do turn over so just be patient. The folks behind the bar get busy. If you speak Spanish, you can get their attention more easily. If not, don't be shy, signal you are ready to order. The staff is there to move customers, so be quick about decisions. They do understand and speak some English though there's not much chatting going on. This was some of the best tapas we've had on the the trip and we went to Madrid and San Sebastian. We just picked things that looked interesting not knowing what they were. Everything was delicious. Several items were creamy and rich like the crispy duck, crispy spinach and shrimp, and the sea urchin. The foie gras was cooked just enough to brown but still had plenty of melty richness. We had everything plus 4 beers for about $57. It's a great place and definitely worth a visit if you're in Pamplona.

Bodegon Sarria - Tall employees have to move the ham out of the way so they can talk to you without bumping it.

Among the crowded streets of Pamplona, one of the main places to try pintxos is on Estafeta Kalea…read more Estafeta is the longest street used for the running of the bulls. It is lined with great food places and bars. On the backside of the street is Plaza de Castillo where there are even more food and bar options. This is food and drink wonderland. Some of the most artistic pintxos we saw in our 3 week adventure in the Basque territories came from Sarria. The place is ALWAYS jammed and has a huge reputation with the locals and visitors alike. One has to push their way to the bar to get service and it is fast and courteous once you make it there. You better know what you want because the guys behind the counter are just a blur of activity. We ate there for lunch and then my local family wanted to go there for a pre-dinner boost. Totally recommend this place.

I counted 40 legs of ham hanging from the ceiling complete with the little cup, under each, to catch the drippings. Considering the ham and the cool wallpaper made of old posters promoting the running of the bulls I was hopeful that this place would be great. Sadly it was not. An item or two was terrific but the next few were so-so and a couple were blech. Lots of small sandwich type items that looked good but will not have me returning for more. The sangria was delicious and the pocket door to the bathroom was awesome. But Bodegon your Michelin stars mean nothing to me and I'm afraid I can't recommend you.
