The presentation was really pretty and the food tasted as good as it looked. Plus, it was only ~3 euros for each, and beers were cheap too! Bartender was working alone the night we were there, but despite a relatively large crowd, she was able to function as bartender, waitress, and bus staff without any problems. She was very nice and open to make suggestions. This was a higher end food experience than some of the other pinxto places where we stopped (even though the bar and staff were very welcoming and casual) and I would definitely recommend checking out La Comedia!

The rules: If you want any of the cooked to order food (the 8-10 menu items on the far wall written on cutting boards), you must eat at a table. We came during the mid afternoon on a weekday, and a table wasn't too hard to come by, but there are only ~6 tables so if you're coming for dinner I'd definitely make a reservation. If you want to try any of the other food (pinxtos) which are already prepared and displayed across the bar, then you need to find a spot at the bar (around 6-8 stools), or be prepared to stand and eat. The local lunch crowd packed this place, and there were many people spilling outside onto the sidewalk to enjoy their pinxtos and drinks. The food and drink: Everything was amazing. The house red wine (rioja) was extremely cheap, but some of the best tasting wine we had on our trip. We sat down at a table to try the pulpo. This was the BEST pulpo (octopus) dish that we tried on our entire two week trip in Portugal and Spain - and I'd say we sampled at least 10 other places version of this dish. The presentation was great, but the texture, taste, and freshness were the true stars. After we finished the Pulpo, we headed over to the bar for more wine, and sampled some of the pinxtos at the bar. These weren't quite as memorable as the pulpo, but still very good (a crostini with foix and iberian ham stood out above the others). The hostess went above and beyond trying to get us a cab for our trip back. We were close to having to walk our way back but luckily a cab arrived. Since it was the end of the night, the man who I am assuming was the head chef, was shaking hands and speaking to the leaving customers. I guess he noticed that we were nervously waiting for our cab, and went out of his way to flag down the cab outside and let us know it was here. If it's your first time, I highly recommend the multi course experimental tasting. It was a perfect way to sample the amazing masterpieces the chef and his team create. The pork belly was my favorite! A must try!!! Chef Modestov was super attentive and walked around to make sure every table was having a great experience. We can't wait to come back!
