I can't even tell you how the services are because on my very first appointment, I was asked to come back 5 hours later due to lack of communication within the salon about bookings. I was very disappointed with the way it was handled. read more

I have natural hair that's a little longer than shoulder length and gets colored at least once a month. The coloring can tend to dry out my hair, and the blow drying can make it hard to manage (kinda kinky). However the techniques at products that Mo Hair uses makes my hair soft and silky. Do yourself a favor and see Karen for your shampoo (it is quite amazing how she massages the scalp), Joan for your color (she lets me use the box color that I get from the drug store because it is precisely t he color I like, and she makes sure she covers every single gray strand), Brittany for flat ironing (she make sure that your hair is smooth and straight), and Danielle for a foot massage (what an experience while you are getting the amazing scalp massage shampoo from Karen). All together the are quite a team! Sometimes I want my hair super straight and sometimes I want it much less straight with a lot of texture. I went to MoHair Express and it was the best decision i made i thought i was at the spa. my stylist was Denisha. i came in early and she spoke when i walked in the door i felt so welcome the person i came for was not there yet so she said come on you are here i said okay and i am glad i did i will be back and bring my whole family. I came to Mo, Hair to get my hair blown out and flat ironed for my birthday. I called and set up an appointment for 4:45. I got there about 10 minutes late due to traffic. When I got there I had high hopes. The woman at the desk greeted me and had me fill out and information form and a piece of paper claiming they are not responsible for any damage caused to my hair. I thought that was odd as I have never had to sign a document of that nature at any other hair salon. The ambience of the salon was nice. The receptionist offered me bottled water while I waited and the bright walls make for nice decor. After I turned in my papers I patiently waited for 2 hours to even get into the shampoo chair. At this point I was a bit annoyed. After washing my hair the hair stylist abandoned me to go chat with her co-workers. As I sat there with my hair soaking wet, once again waiting for the hairstylist I became livid. At this point it's almost 7:00 and my hair is soaking wet, my hair stylist is nowhere to be found and I have a birthday dinner to be to at 8:00. I went and told the receptionist that I needed to be somewhere in an hour and if the hair stylist couldn't start on my hair immediately I'd have to leave. Only then did the hair stylist come to do my hair. But at this point she's rushing through my hair. As she's blowing it out she's not even using a round brush! Between her negative attitude toward my natural hair, her unprofessional nature and her bad attitude towards another customer's child I was fed up with her. My hair turned out okay but I had to go back over her work when I got home. Her mediocre work certainly wasn't worth the $45 they charged me. The crazy part was she thought she was really doing something! I reached up to touch my hair and she's like, "it's amazing, right?! You can finally feel your scalp!" Like I couldn't feel my scalp when my hair is in its naturally curly state. She's obviously very ignorant. When she asked me when my next appointment will be needless to say I declined to rebook. I should've just done my hair myself or gone to the Dominicans, I would've saved a lot of time and money. My hair would've turned out a lot better too. read more

I came here looking to get my hair braided. Me not knowing much about hair or the stylist , I didn't know she wouldn't be able to grip my hair which was about two inches long. If you can't that's fine I can get something else I'm at a salon. You would think it'll be that easy but after the woman asked me to remove my scarf she grabbed my hair and looked at me funny while repeatedly saying she didn't think that the stylist would be able to grip my hair. She went to consult the owner about the situation for a couple of minutes then told me to come show the owner my hair. When I walked to the back to show her my hair, it was a group of stylist and their clients looking at me as if they were anticipating me to take my scarf off. I felt extremely uncomfortable at this point. The owner told me that she wouldn't be able to do my braids not offering any other solution. I asked her is there anything else that they can do to help me because I really needed a change in my head, she said she didn't really know but she guess she could "throw some dye in her (my) head and shape it up". I'm a female and I have no interest in a shape up. I asked did she have any other ideas she said no so I just decided to leave. It's crazy that all these people are black women and BEAUTICIANS! I in NO way felt like they wanted to help me and my situation to help me feel beauty. NO STARS! read more

All I can say is that Ms. Joan is extremely unprofessional. I went to get my hair cut and before getting my hair cut I wanted to make sure we were on the same page. I had never gone to the salon before. And when I said I want to make sure we are on the same page Ms. Joan told me that by saying that I'm insinuating that she is a dummy. What ma'am?!? I want to make sure MY hair is what I want it to be once I get up from this chair. She was also talking to several other people in the salon about the issue. Completely unprofessional. Other things that left her mouth were, "I'm 60 I can say whatever I want," and "I have five licenses so you're not going to tell me how to do hair." Actually I am going to tell you how to do MY hair. I'm paying YOU! Maybe it's time for early retirement Ms. Joan. She also declined to do my friends hair that came with me for no reason other than she came with me. I left the salon in tears because it was disrespectful and it was very hard to keep my composure and not act a fool with an elderly woman. Don't waste your time. I will say the rest of the staff is very nice. They were floored and didn't know what to say but my friend and I spoke with the staff the day before and they were very friendly. The boss is the cancer of the business though. read more

Did NOT like my experience AT ALL!!! First I called for pricing for wash and flat iron and if they accept walkins...lady on the phone was like yes they do and that it was 35.00 and that a lady named Janice was available...I was like cool...so I get there and Janice assisted me....while the wash was pleasant I was dissatisfied with the service overall...after she flat ironed my hair she asked if I wanted it trim...I asked does it need to be trim but she really never said yay or nay....soo I gave her the okay soo she trims it BUT never told me that it was 20.00 for a damn TRIM...sooo get to the register she tells me 65.00 for a wash and flatiron and trim .....i told her that I was told 35.00 for service and had i known a trim is 20.00 I would have said NOO!!! So I ended up paying the 65.00 dolllars then she had the audacity to ask me was i going to leave a tip? Like really....please....So I say this to say I never write reviews but Im soo tired of individuals that cant do hair and over charging customers for mediocre services..DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!! read more
