Unfortunately, I didn't have the best experience during my recent visit, and I wanted to share why. I had an appointment scheduled for early afternoon and arrived on time, only to be asked to wait in the seating area. I waited for 30 minutes before being greeted by my stylist, and then another 15 minutes before being taken to the wash bowl. After the wash, I was told to wait again--this time for another 30 minutes--before finally being brought over for my color treatment. Once the color was applied, I was moved to a different area to let it sit, but it ended up sitting in my hair for over an hour while my stylist, Jerica Lafayette, worked on another client. This was concerning, as permanent hair dye typically shouldn't be left in for more than 30-45 minutes. After her other client was finished, I waited an additional 10 minutes before being brought back to the wash bowl. From there, I was placed in a chair for my blowout. During the blow-drying process, the stylist began at my roots instead of the ends and tugged roughly through my hair, which was tangled and dry at the tips. The blowout felt rushed, and I ultimately left with frizzy, curly ends that didn't reflect the quality I expected. This was really disappointing, especially since I was so excited to support a Black-owned salon. I still left a tip out of courtesy, but spending nearly 5 hours there for such an underwhelming experience was incredibly disheartening. read more

Got my hair done the other day, silk press, deep conditioner and trim and I must say my hair has lasted beautifully. It looks and feels healthy. Victoria did a great job! I like the atmosphere of the shop. It's quiet, professional and friendly. I'll be back for sure. read more

I love Conceited Salon! I, typically, visit for hair maintenance (trims, deep conditioning, and color refresh). Victoria customized my color and I love it! Before this, I played "kitchen beautician and I made the mistake of trying to go lighter on a darker color (no, I didn't know how color processing worked). My roots ended up turning bright orange and the rest remained dark. I called Conceited, booked a consultation with Victoria, and I never left. Victoria took such great care with my hair taking me through the color correcting process ...the woman knows what she is doing. She made sure the process was safe on my hair and she got me RIGHT!!! She asked me what color I was trying to achieve and after everything, I wasn't sure of what I wanted. She earned my trust and I told her to do whatever she wanted. She did not disappoint and to this very day, everywhere I go I receive glowing compliments on my color. Every visit is a great visit. The salon is always clean, there are complimentary drinks, the atmosphere is always light and relaxing. It is handicapped accessible including the restroom. Coming here has become one of my most treasured creature comforts. So much so, I don't put anything on my schedule for the day that I schedule to see Victoria. Because when I am done, I want to ride that salon treatment high all the way to the very end of the day. read more

I went to Conceited for the first time back in June for a consultation for a sew in. The stylist was very real in letting me know I didn't really need one..she told me that if I continued to get deep conditioners and trims, my hair length/ growth would be what I wanted for my upcoming wedding. I was very appreciative of that, being that she wasn't just trying to take my money. My services included a silk press and a dye. My hair is natural and shoulder length. I was charged 160. I asked the stylist over and OVER how much my service would be before she washes my hair and after she kept saying she was gonna check and never gave me a price then when I finish the stylist immediately left. Nothing about my hair looks 160 worth. Then the owner REFUSED to speak to me then decided to start ignoring my calls. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. My hair does not look worth 160 and for those that don't know a silk press is NOT a simple flat iron which is what I asked BEFORE making the appointment and was ensured that's what I'll receive. read more

After emailing Meeky for two months and getting no response. I came to the shop to schedule my appt in person and the receptionist told me to book online. I told her I can't book online because she does not have her early appt available you have to do it with her manually. She went and got Meeky from the back and I told her I needed an appt at 7am she said do you really need it that early. I said yes my graduation pictures are at 9am. The day before my appt I called the salon to ensure she would be there on time they said she would. I said if she's not how do I contact her. They said dm or email her she does not give out her number. I told them I've dm her and email her before for two months straight and she does not respond. They ensured me she'd be there. I got there the morning of my appt at 6:30am I text her let her know I was there she never responded. 7am hits I Start calling and reaching out to ppl that know her. Someone told me her bf said she was still sleep. The owner offered her lash tech to do my make up she said "she's decent". Why would I want someone who is not a professional makeup artist to do my makeup for my nursing school graduation pictures. Meeky didn't reach out to me until 2pm my appt was at 7am. I have wasted $400 on a shoot that day plus having to pay someone else to do my make up. To add it to it the owner and meeky have blocked me from social media. I guess that's there way of ignoring the issue. I will attach screenshots. She is very unprofessional and has no regard for other ppls time. This is something the owner allows in her salon. Beautiful Salon. Highly decorated with cement polished floors and chandeliers and tasteful artwork. Top notch products and equipment is used such as their steamer and they offer top quality human hair of all kinds. Victoria has a variety of bundles right there on site. They are fully staffed and there was no wait. The shampoo girl was very friendly and did a thorough job on my hair. She asked if I was tender headed and did a great job. I was offered a choice of beverage as well. Victoria made sure to style my hair the way I wanted it. She did a great job of explaining to me about purchasing hair and color and maintenance. This was helpful because I've never done either. After discussing it I decided to go with my natural hair. But I appreciated the heads up on the explanation & price, because she could have easily just did the work and charged me but she didn't! She also asked me first how much I wanted trimmed before she cut my hair. I got a silk press and a healthy trim with a simple flat iron. My hair was shiny,light weight, and very pretty. Appointment Date: September 21, 2018 Appointment Time: 8:00am Stylist: Devondae Service: Wash, Trim, and Twist Out Price for service: $75 Hair type- 4c I was referred by one of my clients to Conceited Hair Salon and after doing a little research I decided to give them a try. I was slightly disappointment upon arrival of my appointment because I had to wait outside because the salon opened late. I had to contact the owner via fb to make sure I was at the right location and was informed that they were running late (which is a usual occurrence according to a regular client that was also waiting). I met my stylist, Devondae, and he immediately started on my hair. He was friendly and did a great job washing, blowing out, and trimming/shaping my hair. He did a flat twist out and I stay under the dryer for hours. He untwisted my hair and the back of my hair looked great (minus the flakes caused by the product used) but the front was frizzy, so frizzy that I came back into the salon to have him retwist it. Less than 2 hours after leaving the salon my entire head was a frizzy mess! I've been natural for YEARS and have had a million twist outs and I've never had this happen after leaving a "Natural Hair Salon". I contacted the stylist and owner immediately with pictures showing how frizzy my hair was and how the product was flaking. The stylist apologized and suggested we could try a different product. I was willing to come back in until he told me I would have to pay an additional $25 for his "time". Lol My "time" wasn't considered when I drove 30+ mins to the salon and had to wait for someone to arrive nor was my "time" considered when I sat in the hair salon 4+ hours and was not satisfied with my results. The owner, Victoria, told me to give the hair salon a call, which I did and left a message with the receptionist, but haven't received a return call yet and today is 9/28/18. I have time stamped pictures and videos of my results and I plan to post the pics with my review via social media. Those that are considering this hair salon should take a look at this before booking your appointment. I plan to search for a hair salon/stylist that actually specializes in natural hair, it seems to be a struggle in Baton Rouge according to other natural hair women I've talked to. I originally went in for a DEVACUT with pictures to give some reference. I would rather she have said this is something I can't do on your hair/hair type or I'm tired. Instead I left with more of a pixie and was charged 100. Definitely not a Devacut. And was told to call if I wanted an edit and when I did of course I received no response. Went to this salon a few times. I washed my hair after the last time I went and I am BEYOND PISSED OFF!!!!!! After I wash my hair I noticed that the ends of my hair are heat damaged! For one I've been growing out my hair for the past 2 years now and now I am forced to cut off at least 2-4 inches off. My hair final got to a length I LOVE!!! But it's ruined now. I recently went in to get a silk press, color and a treatment by a stylist by the name of Brooklyn. During the silk pressed I noticed that she was kind of rough with handling my hair but my hair is so thick and coarse I thought nothing of it. A couple weeks have passed and I've been letting my hair continue to breath out. I normally dont bounce around because I'm very meticulous about my hair . During my next appointment with my at home stylist she brought to attention that a patch of my hair was missing from the crown. After hearing the news I contacted the owner by the name of Victoria Warner maiden name Jackson about the patch that was missing and giving her a forewarning about the excessive heat and tension being put on the hair so it could be brought to the stylist attention. The owner handled the news very rudely and accused me of lying about the incident. I would not suggest anyone who has healthy hair go to this salon because they are not accountable for their actions. They will not accommodate your needs if their is an incident on their behalf. Below is the conversation between the owner and I : Hey Vicky, I wanted to notify you that this is the first time I've had my hair straighten since the stylist at your salon did my silk press. My hairdresser noticed that a piece of my hair had been burnt off from the looks of it . Probably was due to the flat iron being too hot and too much tension being put on my hair . Owner : i can't with this tonight...one thing i know is that Brooklyn doesn't use slot of heat and even excessive heat won't cause ur hair to break at that point. it looks like a piece of hair being cut from a braid to be honest. I'm not saying it can't happen but it's less likely to e case......but anyways it's probably not a good idea to accuse someone of making ur hair fall out from heat if u don't know for sure honestly if it was the case ud have broken pieces all over. read more

My daughter and I just recently moved to the Baton Rouge area and had been looking for a new hair salon. After searching on Yelp I decided to try the Conceited Salon. I am happy to say that I lucked out. This place is fantastic! The prices are fair for the services provided. My daughter got a trim/wash and wear with Victoria and she did a fabulous job. Her hair looks healthy and has a nice shine to her naturally curly hair. I had my hair done by Rayven and she did a superb as well. My hair was feeling brittle and in need of some care. I walked out with silky hair and tons of body. The salon itself is beautiful, clean and just straight up professional. These ladies really know how to treat a client.
