My big girl, Xena, the day before her passing.
Maxx M.

5 stars! Unfortunately, I had to say "goodbye" to my big girl," Xena" the Presa Canario. Since she had advanced cancer, I had the option of scheduling her passing with an at home euthanasia service. They were referred to me by my vet at Andover Animal Hospital. So I called MN Pets for the first time. The whole experience was smooth, compassionate, and painless. MN Pets came to my house. I was able to say "goodbye" to Xena in her home, on her favorite Tempur-Pedic mattress and surrounded by her toys & her stinky blankets. (She never liked the blankets after I washed them!) I was so out-of-sorts, I don't remember the names of the doctor and her tech. (To add insult to injury, my father died the day before my dog died.) But they were wonderful. I really can't say enough good things about them. They also made clay foot impressions, they took my big 160 pound girl away, and they mailed me a card with a well-written note. The timing of a pet's passing is hard and for obvious reasons, it isn't always smooth. Many times you aren't able to plan it. But if the stars line up in such a way that you can schedule MN Pets, I highly recommend them. -Maxx

R. I. P. our sweet Katie.
Denine T.

We can't thank MN Pets enough for the peaceful experience we had yesterday with Dr. Rebecca in helping out sweet dog Katie to pass gently and painlessly. It is a day we will always remember with love despite the heartbreak we were feeling. I can't say enough about how skillfully Dr. Rebecca guided us through Katie's passing--in a way that honored and remembered our wonderful pup. It has really helped our sadness to know we treated her in such a humane, loving and respectful way. If you find yourself in this situation with any treasured pet, MN Pets is worth the cost. Scheduling was very compassionate and easy (I cried during the entire call...) and they really delivered more than what I expected for our family. As hard as it was to euthanize our 13 year old dog, Katie, I am left with a feeling that we did right by her (versus an office visit) and a sense of peace. Highly, highly recommend if you find yourself in this unfortunate situation with your pet.

The sweet mementos that MN Pets leaves for the family

I've been struck lately by the number of people I encounter with pets who are in end-of-life stages. While it's always heartbreaking to lose a beloved pet I have noticed another layer of grief after 2020. These animals helped us get through one of the hardest years of our lives and because of that, the bond is even stronger. Which is all the more reason to give them every ounce of comfort and love and kindness when their time has come to cross over. I would never recommend a business such as at-home euthanasia unless I 100% stood behind it. And I DO 100% stand behind MN Pets. I was asked to be present while a dear friend said her final farewell to her sweet Oslo. I heard the initial phone call that she made to inquire about services, pricing, and scheduling. I was impressed by how kind the person's voice was and how there was no pressure whatsoever to make a decision in that moment. Day-of the euthanasia a veterinarian and a vet tech arrived at the house. They were both so compassionate and sweet and gave us plenty of time throughout the different steps to have private moments while they waited outside or nearby. They explained every step, took care of every bit of the whole process so that all we had to do was be present with our sweet guy. And at the end, they made a paw impression in clay and also made a memory stone with Oslo's name on it as a keepsake. A couple weeks later the same Vet and tech sent a hand written thoughtful and personalized card in the mail. The whole experience took something that was dreaded and awful and turned it into something beautiful and peaceful and meaningful.

Incredibly grateful for Dr Rebecca and the in-home services she and her team provide. At our most difficult time, they were kind, thoughtful, patient, respectful. To us and to sweet Buddy who left us peacefully in the comfort of his own home. From our inquiry, to the visit, to the special paw print made, the care in returning our ashes, every touch is considered and extended. This is a process no one should have to go through, but if you find yourself in the situation, MN Pets is who you want by your side.

When my 17 year old cat, Nikita, became suddenly ill, my friend recommended MN Pets. Dr. Rebecca came to my apartment a few hours later to help with the transition. Rebecca had me take my time, listened to my favorite Nikita stories, and looked at pictures. She was gentle and kind with Nikita. Nikita passed away peacefully in her heated cat bed with her stuffed "mousie". I so appreciated Rebecca's kindness and sensitivity during the process and I highly recommend MN Pets. Thank you Rebecca!

These folks deserve an extra star, at least. Sadly, we knew we had to put our beloved Stella down on Christmas Eve. Dr. McNeil was able to come to our house in under 4 hours of making the initial call. She was so kind and gentle. It was a quick and peaceful process. Stella never seemed scared or agitated. MN Pets followed up with an email offering condolences and grief resources. A week letter we received a hand written card from Dr. McNeil with very kind words and details that indicated that she was listening to us. I've had to put pets down at the clinic and I would never consider that again after our experience with MN Pets. Thank you all!

And as hard as it was to make this decision, we called home with dignity to arrange a date for them to come to our house. Our whole family gathered as our children grew up with this dog, and the vet was so sweet and took her time asking questions about him what he likes to do and other aspects about his life. She was genuinely interested in this animal and how much he meant to us and encouraged us to take our time with him until she had to do what she needed to. Of course it wasn't easy, but she made it so peaceful and loving and to do this in our own home is something we will never forget since he gave so much to us. I would recommend them to anyone who has to go through this painful situation.

I told her I was billed twice, she said it would probably work itself out as it was a mistake and there was new staff. She would note and let the office know. 3 days later I called my card company and NO info was exchanged. Thankfully I am a long-standing good customer, and, on my word, the double charge was deleted. The office mgr. called, finally. Excuses, excuses her day off, no apology. She said she would handle it. Seemed more concerned that both charges would be removed, I assured her only one. It's nice to know where their priorities lie. Be careful, their billing practices seem shoddy at best and their attitude, well, she wanted me to feel she was doing me a favor by correcting her mistake. This is a chain, never again

This time Sophie was attacked by another dog at group playtime. She received two deep punctures in her left flank and abdomen. The boarding kennel took her to Southview where they treated her - cleaned her wounds, sewed her up, gave her pain meds and antibiotics etc. The kennel called our son who is our emergency contact here and he called us early in the morning in California. Of course we were shocked and worried - after all we had left Sophie in what we expected to be safe place. We called Southview and spoke with Dr Mahanke. She spent a long time describing Sophie's injuries, treatment and prognosis which was good. Sophie was returned to the kennel where she was placed in confinement and where the staff did an excellent job of caring for her. She was returned to Southview for a check and Dr Mahanke called us and gave us a positive update we also set an appointment for Sophie after we returned. Sophie came home in good spirits but wearing an Elizabethan collar which was necessary but made feeding etc very awkward and uncomfortable We returned to Southview but Dr Mahanke was ill so we saw Dr Lee who removed her stitches and the Elizabethan collar much to Sophie's and our relief. Both of the vets and the vet tech were very friendly and they obviously cared very much about Sophie's well being. My wife and I were very pleased and would consider using Southview for routine car but it is a very long drive for us.
