After four months of getting a run around I asked to be able to get my own plumbing co. I contacted Krupp Whitney and they couldn't be anymore accommodating to my situation. They responded immediately and gave me a fair assessment of the job. There were many unknowns due to the extent of damage to the old crock sewer line from the house to the street. They were able to line part of the sewer which eliminated having to dig up my sidewalk but the concrete street and the front yard had to be excavated. They kept me well informed as things progressed. All the workers were very skilled and professional and answered any questions that I had. It became apparent that there were many problems due to the age of the line (over 100yrs.) I observed the whole process and was able to see where the problems were. The equipment, tools and machinery were state of art. Everyone in the company that I had contact with from the owner, to the secretary, to the many different workers were very nice, very professional and did their job well.

Most of my…read morereviews and searches are about food, but occasionally I have a need for another type of business and this is the first place I turn. You all led me to this small, local business and you were spot-on, so I am paying it forward by adding my review! My family had our pipes freeze in the winter storm this Christmas. Friday, it was the cold water pipe, which took seven hours of work to unfreeze. We thought we were in the clear and counted our blessings as we kept the cold water running overnight Friday -- only to discover Saturday around noon that the hot water pipe was now frozen solid. Twelve straight hours of effort with hair dryers, space heaters, boiling water pots, heating pad wraps and everything else we could think of did not work and we went to sleep Christmas Eve defeated, wondering how we were hosting the rest of my family on Christmas with no hot water, dishwasher, etc. (Our efforts did eventually pay off with the hot water coming on at 8 a.m. Christmas morning and no pipes bursting. So grateful.) During this nightmare I called a number of plumbers who list themselves as emergency 24/7 plumbers, but only Gary from Brickhaas called back. He called during the span of time that I thought everything was under control, but I asked if we could be booked for later in the week to unclog a bathroom drain I've had a problem with lately. Glad I booked them as, after the pipes thawed, the under sink drain was leaking slightly so Dominic was able to take a look at both of these things today. He called with a 20-minute heads up on his arrival, efficiently took care of the clogged sink and an aerator that was limiting water flow, installed a new kitchen sink trap assembly (which he said I could honestly take or leave; I appreciated the honesty but opted to replace for my own peace of mind), and offered solid advice about what we might do if plans to better insulate those water pipes in the future didn't work out re: rerouting the pipes from their current, poor location. He was highly knowledgeable, didn't hard sell anything and I absolutely got his card as I'll be calling them for future plumbing needs. Yelp comes through, as usual!

Trouble is, with a one piece toilet, you have to change the whole toilet to fix the leak inside the toilet. He was very professional, friendly, and recommended several options. While learning, I asked him if they're any charges and He said No! I will be discussing this with my Wife, and we'll go from there. When we make our decision, we will call Scott again for installation. Thanks Scott, I appreciate your time and candor!

Vince came the next day after calling about a problem caused by another plumber (that initiated the project) and efficiently fixed the problem. Scheduling a follow up appointment to finish the job of installing the external gas line to the pool heater was longer than we thought as we had an 18 inch trench dug for him for over 2 weeks (he suggested digging it to save $450). While my attorney found this quite hilarious, I'm horrified that some people might actually retract their reviews after receiving such a threat. Horrible business practice. Vince, if you don't want people to write bad reviews online, try being a more ethical businessman and don't threaten people. My original review that he threatened to sue me over is below: ---------------------------------------------------------- Knowledgeable plumber and it seems like he charges fair prices, BUT be warned, he may lose his temper and THREATEN YOU if you do not take his advice or go with his service. When I chose not to use his services, I told him I would GLADLY pay the service fee (which is $90) for him coming out to assess the problem. Then, he angrily responded that I was jerking his chain and complained about me calling him in church (even though I had no idea he was in church at the time - he did not give me his personal schedule). He also threatened to send the bill to collection agency if I did not pay, BEFORE he even sent the bill to me. His exact words were "I'm not threatening you, but I will send the bill to collection agency if you do not pay." Um sorry, but that's still a threat even if you prefaced it with "I'm not threatening you" lol. What kind of business owner does that? I paid you a fair price for your time. There was no need to make personal attacks and threaten to send to collection agency. Also, his website is dishonest by only accepting reviews of people who rate him positively (hence why I came to Yelp and Google reviews).

When he arrived he explained a pipe burst at Home Depot and he was working. Would've been helpful context. (Later, we found out from a more reputable plumber he wasn't working there...he was just trolling around). He put a huge hole in our wall under our sink, explained how the work was going to be extensive and require a granite specialist to evaluate because he had to remove the kitchen cabinets and it could possible destroy our kitchen counters as well. We were told it was going to cost thousands. This was on a Thursday (two days before New Year's Eve) and he told us the pipes were all connected to our upstairs bathroom. He explained we couldn't use that bathroom, or the kitchen water (sink, dishwasher, etc) until he came back next week. (Unfortunate as I had a party to cook/bake for the following day.) While "assessing" he flooded our ceiling in the basement, damaging ceiling tiles that we had literally paid contractors to replace a week before (for an unrelated incident). He also broke a valve under the sink. He also went into our basement bathroom and spit his chew into the toilet right in front of me. And didn't flush. He did this again out my front door before leaving. When he arrived the next day, he came early in the morning and immediately announced to my husband, "I gotta take a piss." He accosted my husband for $225 before he left that day "as a deposit." Something didn't feel right about it, so we called another plumber and they arrived Monday. They fixed the issue almost immediately coming back a second time only to fix the valve that Jason broke and patch the hole in the wall. They informed us that the fix was not only a lot simpler (the pipe still needed replaced but no risk to our cabinets or countertops) but at a fraction of the cost. Also, those pipes weren't connected. We could have used the bathroom that entire time. They also informed us that he's known for being untrustworthy and "a drinker." We never got that deposit back.
