Midnight Oil Soap Company - All my soaps are masterfully blended to perfection.

I popped into Midnight Oil on a recent business trip to Walla Walla, looking to kill some time. The…read moreplace is stocked top to bottom with handmade soaps, lotions, bath bombs, and more. I would call the shop "whimsical." Many of the soaps looked like a glitter-happy five-year-old had made them. I was more interested in the bath bombs, although I usually hate baths (now who's the five-year-old?), just because they smelled so good (and because it was a tiny store and I felt pressured to purchase SOMEthing). Each were about $5 apiece, except for the malformed leftovers, which were $1 each. Bath bombs just disintegrate in water anyway, so I didn't really care what my bombs looked like. I picked up a lavender leftover and a normal lemongrass/coconut. There were some less obvious scents as well, like "Mystery." The woman who ran the shop (who I assumed to be the owner since there were pictures of her and her goats all over) chatted merrily at me as I shopped. I prefer to be left alone when I browse, but this shop is basically a closet so it was impossible to escape and I was forced to make small talk. The small talk was about goats, though, so it was better than most. However, when I checked out, she abruptly asked whether I had cash. I didn't. She sighed loudly and said, "It costs a fortune," as she ran my card. Gee, I'm sorry I spent money in your store. If someone wants a minimum amount spent to run a card, she should post a sign saying as much.

I really enjoyed the little shop, great smells, I bought an awesome massage oil, and bath soaps…read more Owner was there, everything is handmade by her. Shop was adorable.

This review is long overdue! I've been getting my nails done for some 20 years in big city and…read moresmall town salons all over the west coast. When I moved back to Walla Walla a few years back, I discovered this spot and it was love at first visit! By far, the best nail experience I've ever had! The people and service is awesome! It's run by a mom, daughter and son-in-law who all work there. They are all so kind and helpful. One of my absolute pet peeves is walking into a salon that says they can fit you in, then you wait for 2-4 hours because they are also working on 6 other people. Not here. If they don't have time, they will let you know. Apart from soaking your nails, once they start working on you, you are their sole focus. With that said, they do have very loyal clients and are usually busy - so, call ahead to make an appointment for the best experience. Annie, the daughter, manages the salon and is an absolute nail artist. I wish I have taken pictures of some of the gorgeous nails I've seen her do! The pictures here do not do justice. The last time I went in, a girl was getting her set changed after one month - each one had a different design and they still looked flawless! She will make your wildest, Pinterest-perfect dreams come true! She stays up with all the trends, is always experimenting with new products and finding ways to improve their business, which I really admire! For me, long nails don't work with my lifestyle- so, I stick to short nails with gel. Amy, the mom, usually helps me and is such a sweetheart! My issue is that my natural nails usually get filed too aggressively and ruined, then the polish is too thin or thick and promptly chips or crack within days. At some salons, it's hard to keep them nice for a week! I am writing a review today as I am on week three plus, and they are still perfect (other than the obvious grow-out). Don't look any further! LT is the best!
