He was really efficient, quick, and seemed nice (although the exchange was quick since I was closing on a home). The only thing I wish that was different was getting a detailed quote (base price + per lock price). Either initially or in the receipt. The price ended up being more than the estimate, BUT that was my fault completely because I underestimated the amount of locks in the new place (with almost as many keys for each). However, he was still able to quickly change all of the locks to the same key really quickly and would recommend as a locksmith. Lastly, it would have been great to get a choice between a smart lock and a standard one; however, maybe it would be a hassle to carry around different smart locks? I can't say enough good things about Mike and MJB. Like, by the time you finish reading this review, you might wonder if we're related or something. But no really, my socks were totally knocked off -- and that's a tough thing to do! So from the beginning, Mike impressed. I used the online form on his website (http://www.mjblockservices.com) to ask for an estimate to replace the locks in our home. Not only did I receive a reply within about 30 minutes at something like 10 p.m., but Mike immediately told me that he thought we could probably do a rekeying of all our locks rather than an actual replacement, which is much cheaper. It should be obvious that I know nothing about how locks work or the locksmithing business works, but Mike was honest, did not take advantage of my lack of knowledge and steered me toward the right solution even though it meant a lower bill in the end. Because it was the right solution. If only everyone operated with such integrity. Mike was super responsive as we sent a few emails back and forth and we'd worked out a time for an appointment within an hour of my initial request for an estimate. As for the appointment itself, Mike showed up promptly at 9 a.m. Like, he pulled into my driveway as the clock turned 9. He introduced himself and his assistant. I showed them where the doors were and they set to work. They were thorough and very professional. They were respectful of our house and our belongings. And the great integrity Mike showed when we set up our appointment continued on his visit. Mike showed me the existing deadlock that was very hard to turn and said he'd do his best to get it working (works like amazingly now). He also at one point recommended that I replace one of the knobs instead of doing the rekey because it had rusted out pretty thoroughly. He brought me the knob, explained the problem and was low-pressure. He let me make the call (I chose to replace it). Once the work was done, Mike walked me through it, answered my questions and had me test all of the keys for our new locks before he left the house. I really appreciated that extra step. What was probably supposed to be an easy appointment ended up taking almost two hours, yet he didn't rush through it or skimp on the small things like making sure I was satisfied that the keys and locks worked properly. He wrote me up an invoice, made sure I agreed on the math and left both the invoice and his card. Super professional in every way. After he left you wouldn't have known he was here at all. The house was just as clean as when he arrived. And I have to say -- I was pretty stunned at the cost, in a good way. Seriously, for two hours of time for two people working, my hair salon charges me more. A+ and then some. Great folks, Professional craftsmanship and very knowledgeable. I called mike after looking reviews on google, and he answered right away. I had to install a smart lock Schlage along with a Camelot finish door knob, which I asked him on the call about, and he got me an appointment impromptu at the very last minute. Mike and Matt arrived on time and got started right away. They hadn't done many of these smart locks before, but Mike had pretty good knowledge of the locks and its operation. They took a quick pick at the installation guide and got everything settled up in about 30 minutes. They were both friendly and helped explain what the parts were and how to maintain these for longer better use. They did have to drill a small hole for the knob, which they did very elegantly. Thanks to a couple of tips from Mike and Matt, I think I can do my own drilling now to hang some paintings. I really appreciate their professionalism and adjusting me last minute in their schedule. Totally recommended. The pricing is pretty decent as well, so all in all a very good deal. read more

Moved into a new home today and asked them to Rekey the Home. Mike and Matt arrived punctually. Everything was going smooth until the last lock I had asked for their help getting my August Smart Lock installed and operational. They went above and beyond and worked on it for an hour and refused to leave until it was perfect. They drilled new holes in the door and realigned the steel part of the deadbolt to ensure it worked perfectly. My door was poorly installed by the original contractor, but they fixed it! They never made me feel uncomfortable by them staying late on a Friday night (Total was 2-2.5 hours with maybe an hour being the Smart Lock troubleshooting). I would highly recommend them to all.
