I told the fireman that I had talked to St. joseph hospital where i had just been about my level. The hospital told me that I needed to be re-evaluated asap as this level was very dangerous. The head fireman told me that I could be taken to St. Joseph's hospital since it was only 17 minutes away and within their jurisdiction. I was put into the ambulance and soon found out that I ended up being taken to La Palma hospital, which I had refused to go to. I was taken into the hospital and told by the 2 ambulance drivers from emergency ambulance service that I would not stay. They started treating me very poorly with bad comments, telling me they hope they never see me again. They also said get off the gurney and go sit in the cold in the lobby and just left me there. I called my neighbor who was able to take me to St. Joseph and do what 911 should have been able to do for me. I have since contacted the Buena Park Police and was told that I have the right to refuse to go to any hospital and should follow up with my complaints since they are valid.

This was not the major reason for this review. The issue arose when I received the ambulance statement and wanted to get assistance on the billing. Despite the health insurance coverage, I was shocked to find that the charges were exorbitant and wanted an itemized statement. I decided to reach out to the company to inquire about the charges and explore potential options for assistance. I understand that ambulance services come with associated costs, but as a responsible consumer, I expected transparent communication and a willingness to address my genuine concerns. I reached out numerous occasions for an itemized statement. Finally, I received something, but it wasn't an itemized statement. It was actually a revision memo from the EMS director about the established maximum emergency ground Ambulance rates effective January 1, 2023. Unfortunately, this company failed to deliver on a basic request. I wanted to get an itemized statement of all the charges. So, I can contact my insurance company for any disputes. I reached out to Emergency Ambulance Service, Inc once again. I was pretty irate and wanted to get HELP! I asked them that I am willing to negotiate and pay the obligation. The associate informed me that if I can't afford it. They have payment programs for that, I get that there are payment programs. But I need an itemized statement to see what's all billed. They informed me that what they sent me is an overall itemized statement. I escalated the call for a manager and was told someone would call me back. Unbeknownst to me, I received a letter from a debt collector. My account was sent to a collections agency. I was really perplexed that it was sent to a debt collector and all I wanted was assistance to pay the amount owed. Today, I called Emergency Ambulance Service, Inc. and Ann picked up. I asked her why did my account get sent to a debt collector. If I reached out so many times to get assistance. She told me to call them and hung up on me. I called back and another associate picked up. I told him my situation and he states same thing. I requested a supervisor and after being placed on hold for several minutes. The associate came back and told me that the manager informed him that I need to call the debt collector. Tara the manager wasn't even willing to get on the phone with me.I sincerely hope that this company doesn't continue to treat other people like this.In times of crisis, it is crucial for companies to show compassion and understanding.
