When the technician arrived, she pulled the refrigerator out, and attempted to take back off, which was frozen to the refrigerator. She then said that they can't get parts for that make and model refrigerator, anyway, and can't fix the frost problem, but she still charged for the call. When I messaged the shop's Facebook page asking why they didn't tell the truth about not being able to fix a defrost problem (they knew the problem, the make, and model prior to the appointment), the owner of the shop blocked me, so my husband called and asked that the owner call him, but we haven't heard back. Save yourself some frustration and find a reputable repair shop!

When I asked for a breakdown, she initially refused and sharply responded, "No! Don't you trust me?" Only after pushing did she explain the charges. I had no issue paying. I just wanted basic communication and to understand the work that was done and costs associated. The repair may be fine, but the customer service from Margaret was dismissive and hostile. Lowes has a somewhat better selection for items like tile and lighting and it has the best selection in lawn and garden during the Spring planting season. Menards is more oriented toward the needs of construction professionals. Everything that a contractor might need in the way of paint, electrical, plumbing, roofing and lumber is typically in stock. I rehab older houses and these usually involve extensive rewiring and plumbing tasks, so Menards is where I go first for construction materials. Unless you are looking for cheap Chinese made lighting and plumbing fixtures, I don't recommend any of the big three home improvement chains. If you want quality, your best option is to search the internet or visit specialty vendors for items like high end lighting, plumbing fixtures, cabinetry, and granite countertops. But that takes you out of the range of what DIYer can reasonably handle.
