Some plays bussa nova, some plays folk songs. I come here every morning in Lisbon to watch the sunrise while sipping my tea. This small spot is right in front of my hotel. In the afternoon and during sunset, the city below is painted with different scenes that enchant me all day long. To the left, there's a cafe, and on the right, there's a view of Tagus River. I was able to blast through everything in about 2-3 hours and we didn't exactly zip through either. We took time to view, read and take photos as we went. The main issue is this place isn't cheap and it's pretty pricey for something that won't take up a lot of your day. But in the end I just saw it as contributing money to the zoo and hoping it helps keep the animals taken care of. If you look at it that way, relative to what the zoo offers, I think it was worth it for me.

With it being so small I thought the price tag at $30 euros per person was a little much. It only took us about two 1/2 hours to see the entire zoo and watch the bird show. You'll pass penguins and waterfalls, you can go over a wooden bridge through a little tropical feeling forest, and onto the playful otters. Then you'll continue around passing the giant central tank. As you descend, you'll get additional looks at the tank and different viewpoints like watching the penguins dive below the water. This is the first aquarium to capture my son's delight, but I also think he's just turned the corner on appreciating animals (or at least sea life). Our toddler daughter also enjoyed it very much! We all did. We don't typically book into zoos or aquariums unless they are top in the world, and this aquarium was very highly rated, so I was very happy we came. It was a perfect attraction for our family, but I also would have been happy I came even if this was a trip without kids. With kids? A slam dunk. You can add a gondola ride onto your aquarium ticket which we did. We booked the roundtrip gondola and our kids enjoyed the experience. I wouldn't say it's a must do, but it's not terribly expensive and if you have kids, they'll like this experience too. If you're up for a packed day, you can do the science museum which is next door as well. I read it's a very interactive hands on museum but we had to get back that day. Its a pretty small aquarium. 2 different buildings. You have the main building with the…read moreentrance, the gift shop and the coffee and food court area. But the actual aquarium is in another building that requires you take a walkway to get to. Its organized well, adound the central aquarium. Its a massively large center aquarium. Multiple viewing windows. 2 floors. And many many types of fish in there. From the different sting rays and manta rays, to some sunfish, to multiple sharks. And many many other fish from little ones to really big ones. I could've spent hours and hours just watching them swim around. But with so many people trying to get the best views its best to keep it moving. Around that center aquarium they have many exhibits and tanks. From the arctic with the penguins to the tropical with the tropical fish and corals to the pacific and everything in between. There's a lot of fish and aquatic animals to look at and take pictures and videos of. Also theres informational rooms and even a room to watch a video (with seating). Lots of placards around giving some information on what your seeing. So many beautiful and exotic creatures here. You basically start off on the 2nd floor, work your way around in a circle, go down the stairs, do another circle and then take the walkway back to the main building. I didnt know once you go down stairs you cant go back upstairs. Basically a one way walk. I wish I knew that so I could've spent more time upstairs viewing the aquarium from up there. So that was a very big disappointment. Also once you go into the main aquarium you can go back to the beginning of the main building. There was some pretty cool monsters of the deep exhibit in the main building but because we went to the aquarium first we missed that part of the exhibit. With a lisboa card you get 15% off your ticket price. Booking it online you get 5% off. But we bundled the aquarium ticket with the telecabine ride. So lisboa card doesnt work with that. This is a pretty small aquarium by aquarium standards. We easily spent 2-3 hours viewing all the exhibits and animals. Could've easily spent some more time here. It was really nice to see divers in the big tank cleaning responsibly and feeding the sunfishes and other animals. It was a nice little experience to spend a couple hours of your day at. Cool exhibits. Like the different zones of it. We'll maintained. Fun experience for people of all ages!

It's right next to the Vasco Gama Center which has a lot of foot traffic resembling a metropolitan skyscraper-filed zone with plenty of city appeal. If you're looking to hug a tree, you should look elsewhere. If you're into open areas where people can gather and stroll around, this might be your spot. My feet were on fire from climbing all those hills up and down all day so I was actually thrilled to see flat terrain for once...and so were my feet. There's nice sculptures and fresh breeze to soak in while overlooking the boasting new metropolis in Lisboa.
