They weren't kidding when they call this place squirrel park!! They're ALL OVER the place!! Kinda cute, kinda scary. My 1 year old was a little hesitant walking up. I am surprised the city hasn't done anything because there are a lot of holes/tunnels you could sprain your ankle in. Not so much in the direct walking areas, but a lot around the borders of the playground or near corners of the structures. Kinda a lot of trash. Candy wrappers, nerf darts etc. Some swings were missing, and a slide was blocked and locked off. So hopefully they'll be updating the park soon. Still gave it 4 stars because we enjoyed ourselves, big park with lots of huge trees. Just wish they'd clean it up a bit. But I think it's worth checking out. read more

Been going since my kids were young and now i take grandkids when they come to visit.

Took my five and one year old here after school today. I just pulled it up on maps and didn't look at the reviews upon our arrival my five year old was so excited due to the size of the park. As we were walking up my five year old stepped into a hole in the grass. As we continued our walk up to the park we noticed more and more holes in the dirt. Then we saw all the squirrels... i genuinely was SHOCKED at the amount of squirrels. We ended up leaving after being at the park for only a few minutes because I wasn't too sure how the squirrels would react to my kids and didn't want to risk one of them getting attacked. The park itself also was t very well kept. My kiddos were very disappointed to have to leave so soon. read more

I used to take my kids here all the time. Took my grandkids here and it's just overrun with squirrels. I think the city needs to take care of it. It's a squirrel park. I'd never seen so many. They were all over the playground. I was worried my grandson would get bitten. It's still a lovely park with fun equipment but not somewhere I want to go back with young kids. read more

Great park for kids to run, climb, and play! The ground squirrels are everywhere... thankfully they seem to dig their holes at the edges of the playground rather than the middle the playground so you don't get sprained ankles from walking around. Lots of benches and trees for parents to relax. The rings and monkey bars seem rather high... and basically at adult height. But everything else was perfect for kiddos. There is a small sandpit at one side of the playground. They also have a toddler area. read more

Very spacious park with a big wooden playground and lots of large fields. If you are looking for a park with basketball courts or other activities I'd go elsewhere. Every 4th of July my church does a barbecue here early before the sun starts barbecuing everyone. There is a huge tree for shade when the heat comes around though. read more

We enjoy coming to Miwok Park, Especially for the squirrels. We bring the squirrels some treats to eat and the kids love it. It's an absolute nice park but I think it has been neglected due to graffiti all over the playground, no swings, one slide has been locked gated for quite a while now. I believe Elk Grove is a nice city to let these parks go neglected like this. City of Elk Grove maybe you can upgrade something here? read more

We are not locals here but were in town and my toddler wanted to go to park. This was 3 mins away from our appointment so we just stopped by. Definitely a huge no!!! The wooden structure is not maintained and unsafe for kids. We used a swing and it was squeaky. Slides were worn out and there was not even a single kid there. We left after 15 mins. Not coming back! City needs to repair this park soon. read more

good size park and plenty of street parking. it definitely is a "squirrel park", and is probably a great way to observe and teach your kiddos about them! one boy mention to us today that his family usually brings them nuts and i thought that was cute! this place is different from most parks because everything is mainly of wood and thats cool. reminded me of mckinley but smaller. only thing is i seen some bolts loose on some of things/attachments. read more

Review is for the playground only. Playground is large and it's a wood playground vs the plastic and steel ones you see at most parks. The playground looks rundown and abandoned. Will make a nice haunted playground because it looks like one. Lots of spiderwebs, graffiti, and tons of ground squirrels roaming around. You can see all the holes where the ground squirrels have dug around the playground. I wouldn't trust my kid playing here or possibly catching something from the ground squirrels. When there's too many ground squirrels to the point where the park can't be enjoyable, it's a problem. Doesn't help that people fed them too. read more

I took my daughter here a few weeks ago and there were so many squirrels! There were a ton of baby squirrels also! It was so cute! This could have been such a nice park (probably was at one point in time) I love that they had a separate play area that's for the littles since that's hard to find but the fact that this is literally home to so many squirrels and people put out water bowls for them and food is ridiculous. Best for... Picnicing..tons of shade. Squirrel chasing... A means for ahalf hour of cost free fun for the kids and dogs. We seen about 15 squirrels in the 20 minutes we were here. Mom and kid play dates..tables and lots of shade for gabbing about nonsense. Reading a book or three.. again tons of shade for laying on a blankie and relaxing. Tennis courts, toddler areas, soccer net and lots of grass and a bathroom. Even in 106 degrees of heat, the almost total shade here makes it bearable. Overall one of my favorite parks for my babies in EG. read more

I love this park for my kids, I also used to come here as a kid but it's needs to be cleaned up. Littering and used condoms found. Makes me not want to bring my kids back here. A lot of parents don't go up the castle part so theres no way for them to know that's up there. read more

One of my favorite parks in elk grove. reason for not giving full five star is because they don't have that many tables, only one bbq grill. The park is big and they have street parking. I like the playground structure. They have pathway to walk or jog around. The park is big, has trees with shades but not much. I wound highly recommend this parks all those stay home moms who love to take kids to parks. It's a mini disneyland. They will have fun. read more

This park is awesome. But it desperately needs to be revamped/Power washed or something! There is squirrel burrows everywhere and spiderwebs all over it. I love how shaded this park is with the big trees and it's theme is so cute and a nice change from the bright plastic of all of the other CSD parks. Wish they took better care of it! read more

Great park with lots of play area for kids and shade trees so you don't have to leave even if the sun is strong that day. Several areas of play for different age groups. I especially like the toddler play area. The play structures are older, and wooden except for reinforcements with the vinyl wood-looking beams. We just love how the place is so shaded thanks to the big trees. Most other parks in Elk Grove, esp. in newer development areas have very new playgrounds, but then few trees or only little tress providing no shade. This park is a wonderful place and we plan to drive here so our little one can play here, especially on hotter days. read more

We have been taking our kids here for years and years. This park has ALWAYS been their favorite. The play equipment is unique and encourages the children to be creative. The park is shaded lots of places to enjoy a nice hot summer day. This may be the best park in all of Elk Grove! read more

Went to this park last year and there were tons of mice running around. The freaking place was infested. I rounded up the kids and immediately called the Elk Grove park hotline. Went back today and not a mouse in sight. There are plenty of fun things for the kids to do here. Lots of shade and tables. We saw a ton of squirrels and a few rabbits today. read more

It was a good size park but there was a lot of spider webs and squirrels every where. Overall my kids enjoyed the several slide options and the tire swing. The kiddy section was also a huge hit with the perfect size slides and good amount of baby swings. read more

I love this park it is packed full of all kinds of stuff for the kids to play. My daughter used to love this park when she was little, great climbing equipment throughout and they have a tire swing & swings still. Field day for my daughters class was here one year. Which I was one of the lucky volunteers to attend and now it is one of my top choices for parks that I take my 2 nephews to play at. Park with memories!! read more

Squirrel City or Forest whichever you prefer. Ok ok in all honesty I thought the lady who mentioned there were too many squirrels was crazy and now look I'm that crazy lady... There ARE too many squirrels here! Lol Sunbathing, feasting, playing, digging, you name it they were doing it! They have underground tunnels they've made throughout the park! I was seriously more scared of some of them than they were of me as some were huge rat size and eww I hate rats. But who am I to complain? This clearly is their Park and I'm just visiting lol. On a plus I got to teach my toddler what a squirrel was! Making it a learning moment! Squirrels aside this is a really fun older Park 20+ years! I love the woodland look theme and the children's artwork. Makes a really nice change to the plastic metal parks about and this hands down has the best shade from the beautiful oak trees (where the squirrels live ahem) surrounding the park. My little guy loves, loves the swings so we were able to do so in the shade even though it was hot and sunny. We enjoyed a juice box in the bench nook and explored the nooks and crannies. (me stamping to shoo the squirrels away first of course) With it being a wood frame though there are several spider webs in and about the climbing frame so not for the moms who don't like creepy crawlies. One of the strap belts on the swing seats aimed at special needs/disability children is broken and needs replacing. Overall a really fun imaginative and wonderful woodland park which has charm and charisma that can ignite the imaginations of the little ones and big kids at heart. read more

This has become my son's favorite local park! The playground is nice and big, combining some of the old fashioned wood structures with more modern plastic slides and such. Lots of beautiful trees which is great on warmer days. I love the path around the park for walking/jogging and my son and I like racing eachother up the big hill. The soccer field and tennis courts are nice too. read more

There are many amenities at this park which include tennis courts, soccer fields, and bathrooms. It's large and has mature trees. The wooden park used to be sooooo amazing about 8-9 years ago but it's definitely in need of some TLC. It needs repairs & minimally needs to be power sprayed & cleaned up. There were many many squirrels!!!!! Definitely a health hazard in my opinion. read more
